S28 - Friday Trophy - Round 5 - CanAm - Albi 67

The next round of the S28 Friday Mixed Trophy we remain at Albi in France.
The 1967 layout of the track has a good mixture of some fast straights and all sorts of corners.

If you Reset on the last lap a 30 second time penalty will be awarded if you cannot s+g before the finish line in the pit lane.

Drivers must complete 50% of the race distance to score.

I took two shift-r's this race. The first was at the start, so doesn't count, IMO.

Aside from that, some good racing, grats ID and podium. Cyas next time.

Congrats Iestyn, Axel, and all the other drivers! Good fun!

Incident at the start ,for me impossible to avoid and i don't know which pilot was.
Anyway sorry.

My apologies. My engine exploded just as the flag dropped. I guess I shouldn't be making fun of Iestyn for installing one of those grenades in his car at Silverstone. Strange that I experienced the same difficulties I was recently watching with the 1986 F1 races, a grenade for engine and almost running out of fuel.

That start had me rattled for several laps. It wasn't until around lap 10 I started getting comfortable with the car again. Very kind of you Dean to let me pass so easily. Sorry for bumping somebody's Lola when Dean passed on the left and I tried to pass on the right. It got rather suspenseful after the midpoint wondering if I could save enough fuel to finish. Axel and Dean had me beat if their engines hadn't blown late in the race. I never could have kept you two behind me without running out of fuel before the race ended.

It's a bit of bummer I didn't get to chase Iestyn from the start. That would have been a great test of my composure and consistency. It would have been intriguing late in the race as we ran low on fuel. I probably wouldn't have slowed any, if I had a shift-r remaining near the end of the race.

Thanks guys. I appreciate it.

Joined the race with the default setup  ::)  only realised it when I ran began to run out of gas after a dozen or so laps . a s/r and pit in later to tank up then back to the track but ran out again well before race end. Should really have DQ'd myself but needed the practise , found my car to be very twitchy , as were the graphics , also my fps were going below the 30 mark whenever I got close to another car . otherwise enjoyed the "race"

grats to the podi chaps

Turns one, two and three at Albi are a lot of fun in the Can Am cars! At the start of the race, I swerved onto the grass to avoid the non-starter. Thankfully, I am a slow starter, and so I had extra time to react. During the race, I was up to third due to Greg and Dean having a bad start. At the time when they caught me, I was struggling with car control, and I just let them past without a fight. It is funny that when I push harder, I have more wheel spin, and I go slower. Such is life  :)

Why am I on both championships : Friday Trophy Light and Heavy, too ?

If I remember, I only registered for Light.

Sorry David my fault, the split is done manually after a long race...

Glad to have survived this race as my flu is not yet over.

Get well soon Axel, nice to see you on track even though you were in survival mode. Also good to see Bernie make his return to Friday racing. Congrats Iestyn, Greg and Cookie for the podium!

Regarding the Can Am Lola T260 set-up, I was able to shave a few tenths after I slightly increased the front and rear anti roll bars. And of course, getting off the corner without too much wheel spin is probably the biggest challenge. Sorry to hear about the poor frames per second.

Interesting to her that Walter , I found the default had too much understeer for my liking so perhaps a looser diff would help corner exit speed ?

Love the big V8 engine noise though  :)

Maybe you try this setup (https://www.sendspace.com/file/lz1vro) as a base for the T260

I decided to leave the diff at the default setting. It was probably not optimal, but I decided that it was easier to drive off the slow corners that way.

My set-up had too much understeer as well. I increased the rear ARB a little extra, but I certainly did not solve the problem.

Thanks Axel for the base set-up.
