S28 - Friday Trophy - Round 8 - CanAm 71 - Michigan

The 8th race of this season will be at Michigan, a short oval circuit with 2 bumps and lots of slipstream ;D
Big CanAms are a real challenge here, nothing for softies...

Shame it is on a holiday for most of us ::)

If you Reset on the last lap a 30 second time penalty will be awarded if you cannot s+g before the finish line in the pit lane.

Drivers must complete 50% of the race distance to score.

I made a tiny update for Michigan to make it look a bit better.

Download it here:

Tommie.

I might actually have some time to race tonight  :) . Oval races are always cool so looking forward to it.

I'd be ashamed if I wrecked the leader lapping me.

I'm sorry Greg for both incidents. I was so focused on the car in front that I forgot that the leaders were coming from behind.

The second incident was just as embarrassing for me. It should not have happened. I miscalculated the difference in speed, and the amount of time that I needed to avoid your car. It was not intentional.

I'll submit two incident reports against myself.

Sorry,
Walter

Apologies for that Fran.
Yes,  I was circulating with Tommie and although I could stay with him/even edge up in places;  I did not have the additional speed/ability to get past.
Although you were a (short) lap down;  you were closing all the time.

Not looked at replay yet;  but think I ended up on the inside with Tommie to the right;  just tried to keep really tight to leave plenty of room/not slide wide;  & just ran over the kerb/span.
Up until then,  I thought I'd done pretty well to not do exactly that.

Apart from the ~20 laps behind Tommie's gearbox;  it seemed a bit empty out there.
It's also quite amazing that 175MPH also seems a little slow!

Cheers all,
Dave.

I'll submit two incident reports against myself.

There was no need to do that. I wasn't even angry until I tried to take an outside line and the car would no longer hold it and I spun into the wall. So the next time I tried an inside line when I came upon Axel and the car fishtailed on entry and straight into the wall again. One more lap with a damaged engine and I had had enough.

I wouldn't have reported it Walter. The only way I would have is if I thought it was extreme incompetence or intentional. I made a mistake too. I got impatient. The lead I had came at about .2 seconds/lap and I had no intention of letting Iestyn get a slipstream off of me. I thought you were going to give me a car's width on the bottom of the track. I was going to give you one on the outside as we exited the turn.

I may have been a little angry with you for a hour or two but after that I was only angry with myself.

Just forget about it and I will too. I will try to remember to be more patient.

Thanks for that Greg, I watched the replay, and it made me feel even worse about it. I could imagine James Hunt commentating the race, and calling me an idiot.

I made the incident reports because I thought that I might feel better if I was given a big penalty.

One thing is for sure, I will try to make it up to you by not letting it happen again.
