Season 28 Historics Trophy - Round 5 - Rouen

Round 5 already... across the Channel to the leafy suburbs of Rouen-les-Essarts.

From its opening in 1950, Rouen-Les-Essarts was recognized as one of Europe's finest circuits, with modern pits, a wide track, and spectator grandstands. The circuit (which ran on public roads) had a few medium straights, a cobbled hairpin turn (Nouveau Monde) at the southernmost tip, and a few blind corners through a wooded hillside. The appeal was greatly enhanced by the climb from Nouveau Monde at 56 metres to Gresil at 149 metres.

This race is for cars with 3L in displacement. No handicapping is in force as none of the first 3 drivers in the championship has more than 30 points over the next.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

This season, races are to be run at 60 frames per second – please use this patch 60fpsV2newmod (ftp://ukgpl3.dyndns.org/Replays/Archive/Season27/60fps/).

Drivers must complete 50% of each race to score.

Replays Available here (ftp://ukgpl3.dyndns.org/Replays/Archive/Season28/Historics/)

Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=479&theme=6).

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Moderating The red zone will be fully moderated from the start to the exit of Nouveau Monde hairpin on Lap 1.  Other moderation will be on reported incidents only, however any incidents that occur in the red zone that are not reported by the drivers will be reported by the moderator.  This will allow all affected drivers the opportunity to present their case before the incident is moderated.  This should ensure there are no surprises when the moderator's report is published and hence appeals will be less likely.  If you haven't received a PM about an incident before the link below the results table is removed, you can be sure that you will not appear in the moderator's report.

Too short race for me!The faster pilots, sometime and to not lose time, take risk but produce incident.

Last minute set-up changed worked this time, car was working much better than in qual, had inherited second and seemed to have pace on Cookie if I could find a way past, but then noticed T-bot had cleared the traffic after his earlier incident and was gaining quickly, try to go just a little bit faster in T2 and...

Just watched the replay and your not wrong Fran. It was not just yourself being driven or forced off the track. In addition to a once again sadly short red zone, I suspect the usual few will simply carry on regardless. But hey, good luck to those still running and grats to the podium whoever finishes on top. I'm off to build another engine

Edit: Great to see Andreas and Paul on track.

Great to see you back Paul and was really sorry when you quit before the start.
I am no expert Paul  ::) anyone will tell you as much. But, I was getting pathetic frame rates when we switched to 60 fps, and to be honest it was so bad that I either had to quit GPL or get another PC. It was just like horrible lag with rates of 20-23fps in traffic and almost single figures on the grid! that is just not driveable. . Just wonder if that is what you have and not actual "lag"?

Then for one race I turned off 90% of the Pribluda options, just kept the relevant positions and gaps displayed............et voila as the French say! Suddenly, I was in the 50+ fps in heavy traffic and with one or two cars around me just about 60fps. I guess Prib puts a heavy load on the main processor and that was the root of my probs.

This might have nothing at all to do with your issues, but I thought I would share my total lack of knowledge and experience in these matters  ;D

................. ;D.....well, I miss the start ' cause ......I was ...on the moon or somewhere else !  :o.....and my race setup was by "default "......so, time to change it and put fuel ....and clic on the green button at time "0".....arrrglll ! rookie mistake !.....happily, when I start, I 'm just behind the s/f line,....10 m ahead, and I had one lap gap at start !!!.....so I was thinking in a possible podium and put the warrior mod on !....
...very surprise to see Iestyn just in front of me after one lap !! ( what append ? )....cool, we will have a good fun battle to go back to the front....in fact it was a short fight and whith the overtakes , the gap extending, then I focus on the leader and hope to have enought time to catch him.....and it's done 2-3 laps from the finish ..... 8)......
...since my recovery, I had a contact whith a pilote.....have not seen the reaplay yet.....tell maybe more after looking it

...so thx all and org. ....cu in Spain .......should be under 3 liters ??

ps: if handicap comming, please tell us as soon as possible......thx

Yes, Montjuich is a less than 3L race due to the "tight" nature of the track.

I think you and Iestyn will be handicapped to Group 1 cars (Eagle and Lotus Climax), but it's that tight 3rd to 6th behind you that given 2 races the gap could well close.

Don't forget worst 2 races will be dropped... all to play for! ;)
