Post by: Turkey Machine on July 11, 2015, 09:52:14 PM +0100
Season 28 Historics Trophy - Round 9 - Beal Valley

New territory for UKGPL as we hit the country roads of Shaw, Lancashire and the fictional circuit Beal Valley, created by Alan Goss. More information here: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/goss.alan/beal.htm

This circuit is comparable to Spa in terms of lap time and speed, but will reward patient and careful driving. The Watersheddings is not for the faint-hearted...

This race is for cars with engines 3L in displacement.

Iestyn is restricted to Group I cars (McLaren or Eagle-Weslake).

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

This season, races are to be run at 60 frames per second – please use this patch 60fpsV2newmod (ftp://ukgpl3.dyndns.org/Replays/Archive/Season27/60fps/).

Drivers must complete 50% of each race to score.

Replays Available here (ftp://ukgpl3.dyndns.org/Replays/Archive/Season28/Historics/)

Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=479&theme=6).

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Moderating The red zone will be fully moderated from the start to the exit of Goats turn (first tight right).  Other moderation will be on reported incidents only, however any incidents that occur in the red zone that are not reported by the drivers will be reported by the moderator.  This will allow all affected drivers the opportunity to present their case before the incident is moderated.  This should ensure there are no surprises when the moderator's report is published and hence appeals will be less likely.  If you haven't received a PM about an incident before the link below the results table is removed, you can be sure that you will not appear in the moderator's report.

Sorry Donni. Totally my fault and feel free to report. But please watch a replay. I really was trying to give you space and brake as hard as possible and not make contact. I failed. Good luck to all those still running.

A great track! About 60 miles from me or a 1 hour drive. If I could build tracks, there is a similar one around my house, which would then be a Spa house that could be hit ;D.

Managed to piece together a good setup through my run in Q. Like Schottenring, I was still learning the combo; looking at my race fast lap I could have Q'd 3rd at best. I was happy with 7th, following the pack and trying to advance as I got more confident. Ray squeezed past Axel at the hairpin, then Rob was off at the fast right (mini-freeze) and Axel went wide in surprise; I managed to pass through the middle , while Doni/Ray's bump at the hairpin and then Ray's off up the hill put me in 3rd place by lap 3, whereupon I saw 20 gallons was bang on the money for fuel.

I could see Dean ahead and wanted to close in, but with a small mistake or two, Rob recovered and passed me, while trying to hold on to his slipstream led to another mistake entering the long straight. Dean then drafted Rob and they pulled away! I span slowly at the 2nd hairpin (near Oldham) in frustration, trying to get the power down too fast, losing 10 seconds. I could only hope Rob/Dean's dice led to an incident, sadly Dean also got stuck in the fence like Ray, so I could max out my result for 3rd place behind Tris and Rob.

Looking at the championship, if Tris wins at Monaco I need 2nd place to win by a point or two 8)? My late mistake at Mosport, pushing for Hristo's WR with a safe lead, may be costly.. :-X

NP, Rocket.  Poo happens.  I find that hairpin rather slippery and slow more than I would like to ensure a clean pass.  This may have caught you off-guard.  I have a score to drop so I guess this is it.  :)

Grats to Tris(great job in the Cooper), Robert and Iestyn!

Very fun track, got lucky to survive the first crash anyhow. It looked like many wrecked there...my crash might have caught a few out, sorry for that...lost 25s there...

After that it was a good race, with a few nice passing moves, but also some mistakes. I'm not used to make many mistakes, and it is mostly the hick-ups...right now disabling prib (but now I don't have any readings on the black bars, which leaves me literally in the dark, normally there is still speed/gear selection?). The mini-freezes come in random and sometimes it becomes even stuttering.

Could/should have been a classic fight with Tris, but coming back through the field was fun...just need to fix these random mini-freezes, I'm on top of it, and then all will be good ;)

Grats Tris, and thanks all for racing :)

...I don't have any readings on the black bars, which leaves me literally in the dark, normally there is still speed/gear selection?...

Only in F10 view, with stock GPL. You're probably referring to GPL Digital Display Modifier (http://gplpp.com/, look under Utilities then under Lee and Stefan).

Thanks Dean, will be a viable option if it is really prib causing the hick-ups, or when I decide to not use prib anyhow...can't remember how dash readings were in 2001-2007, also don't remember this utility...probably just getting too used to pribluda (only started using it begin 2014)  ::) On the old system all went smooth (apart from less FPS on demanding tracks/mods) Pribluda is good when you have overcapacity, but most of the times prib is just distracting despite adding awareness...I'm a typical male guy that needs to concentrate on one thing at the time only!  ;)

Sorry to see you lose it behind me, you had a podium in the bag, and a good pace. Naturally the F312 was good on the straights, and the BT19 in the corners...

yo :) .....
good race on a very funny track (  thanks org. )....the cooper was well whith a good top speed and a nice handle....specialy in the "S" flat out ....lonely victory after the  early Rob's mistake...:/

last race at Monaco will be decisive for the crown.... shall I keep it ?.... Iestyn need just a second place to be champion "if "I win the race and it's very far to be done.....
...so it should be cool to know (  as soon as possible ) exactly whitch car we can race whith.....handicap or not handicap...... that is the question !

Hey Tris, Iestyn I think will be Group I, you'll be Group II, basically all to play for in Monte Carlo!
