I keep on getting a "check sum" error when trying to load the Mcclaren. Loads the Nismo ok, any ideas??

We had that problem at Core as well. I think the server needs to be updated.

Has there been another update? I'll check later

All I know is that we had the same problem and after a complaint to the people where we hire the server from, it was all good after. We run v1.2.1

Looks like the GT3 Mclaren and the normal Nissan GTR had been updated after I put the new patch on the server.

I've restarted the server so if someone could check it's ok that would be great

hmm, I keep getting 'checksum failed' each time I try to get on the server. Race ran fine offline at same track. Are we using an updated version since we last raced here recently? (in the Z4)

1:31.5 offline with race fuel, meds and 'fast' track. AI give a good race nowadays  :)

Server is running V1.0 of the track from Spanner's link

There's been A LOT of changes to this track since we last used it, so you'll need to redownload it. Mitja's work is pretty awesome, and since this is another of his local tracks I get the feeling it's going to be VERY accurate.

I do wish it wasn't still being referred to by its completely inaccurate old name of Zeltweg in the title, though. It's in Spielberg, and it always has been.  :-\

Thanks Tibs, will upload the new version.

If any of you guys haven't run your chosen gt3 cars since the update, I suggest you do as your setups will probably require further tweaking. My z4 setups did

Unfortuneatly the download pages get updated to the latest version so theres no guarantee you already have the latest version

We previously used version 0.7 the latest is 1.0

For future reference link the track to the history part, so everyone will have that one. If a new one comes out, you can always set that as the new download. History of track (http://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/spielberg.6437/history)

Ok thanks Eric.

Managed a 32.3 so far. Only really had to increase both diffs as its was too lively. They did say they had remodelled the diffs in the last update.

Some horrible LODs on this track. The gantry after turn 2 only just appears after you've exited the corner.

You can now complete your qualifying lap before the session moves on! :) This has the side effect of extending all the session start times as it takes longer to get from one session to the next.

You can now use the chat window post race without the results being over the top!  :)

You still can't select 1st gear with the clutch in at the start! :-\

I will try the updated cars when I turn up tonight with my usual 2 minutes practice during the event. They can't be that different! ;) I did try the new Toyota at Zandvoort and it's great fun against the AI, which is surprising for so many reasons  as I expected it to be a slow boring car against thickos who crash into you.

The AI are good now, you can race very closely with them too.

Advert placed at Kunos site  :)

In future can we make sure forced virtual mirror is turned off and that the race over time be set to something in the 3/4 minute range.

We also now have the option of variable weather so i would like to see some of it being used.

Sorry about the virtual mirror, I hadn't spotted this in the options in the new server configuration utility. Not sure why it's on by default, seems a funny option all round to me. I'd have thought you want to force something like cockpit view only (like iRacing does)

I don't understand your race over time to be 3/4 of a minute. That may not allow people to finish their last lap.

There are very few cars I can actually see the cockpit mirrors at all due to triple screen and FOV, so Virtual Mirror is essential to me, but no need to make it forced on by default. Strange default indeed.

Race over time is the amount of time it takes before it either closes or circles back to practise.

Atm its set for 60 seconds and i was trying to talk to luca and all of a sudden it shut down.

LOL - you mean 3 to 4 minutes, I thought you meant three quarters of a minute. No wonder it didn't make sense to me  :-[

Anyway the server is set to the maximum the old configuration wizard allowed, here's the entry from the cfg file

RACE_OVER_TIME=200

So you had 3 mins and 20 secs.

I take it there's no way in the new server tool to disable automatic recycling/closing?

Enjoyed quality trying my all to beat Simons Nismo and bagged 3rd ahead of him in the dying seconds.  :) knew it was a futile gesture as I always lose a place or two on the start  ::)
Had a decent first half of race chasing sharks GTR, but it had the pace on the straights to drop me each time. Kept it close for 10 laps until I got a 2nd cut warning so I backed off a little as my tyres wore whilst he kept up the consistent pace.
Finished 4th

Race suffered from lack of numbers again  :( but is height of holiday season and I didn't place an ad over at AC until race day, and without an enticing pic.

You need to work on your reaction times, watching the replay you seemed to wait half a sec before starting after everyone else. Spanner did well to avoid you.

It's what happens when you get old. ;-)

Another symptom is racing the wrong car  :o I drive (normally) the SLS in this series and forgot...................................  :-[

I thought i would give the Nissan GTR a go for this race. I didnt get on track until gone 8pm, so only did a few laps practice with the default setup. The car felt horrible, very unstable under braking and very oversteery coming out of corners. Do other GTR racers make any specific changes to the setup? i have tried the BMW & Mclaren with default setups and they seem a lot easier to drive.

LOL, welcome to the world of the Nissan.

Basically it's an absolute beast. It has a lot of oomph, but it is quite difficult to control. As you say it's quite a handful both under braking and acceleration (nice combo :)). As I didn't have time to spend ages on the setup last night the only thing I did was lower the power differential one notch, set the wing at 8 and treat the beast with respect (gently gently footwork). I think it could benefit from a few suspension tweaks but essentially its the most difficult car of the 4 to drive imho.

Not a reaction delay as I sit there gunning the throttle waiting to steam off. I think my clutch engagement is a bit pants with my pedals and seems to have got worse in last few races. I also think my 1st gear was one notch too long as this was an adapted monza setup.

Lol at the nismo running wing 8, I was on 4 and still the gtr pulled away dramatically on every straight.  :oCan see why Core left it out of the Gt3 series now albeit I still think slightly slower guys should be allowed to run it to keep the racing close. Almost like a seeding system to keep the racing tight.

I think the Nissan is fine and people are self regulating. I drove the Nissan but it doesn't magically make me a fast guy. Fast guys are fast guys in whatever car they choose. If the fastest guys chose the Nissan they would still be winning, so I don't really see the problem with the Nissan.
