Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see
cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?pid=7) especially the
rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Race Room Racing Experience from Steam, and have the Euro and American Track Packs for this series (And maybe another
non pack track occasionally)
(4) Please exercise caution when pitting as some tracks have a speed limit.

(5) Please follow the SROUK guidelines for using kerbs etc. Please keep 2 wheels on the track surface (kerbs do not count as track surface)
Excessive cutting of corners will seen as cheating and the results may be altered to reflect this.

The announcement says Euro track pack required for this race but Mid Ohio is in the US track pack. Good news is that the US track pack is currently on sale this week  :thumbup1:

GOod spot Tudor.  I am starting with the Euro and American Track packs, I may do a Suzuka and Bath-hurts if people want them.
Need to get this series advertised among the communities.

Title: Re: RRE Race Room Historics - Mid-Ohio - Aug 13
Post by: phspok on August 07, 2015, 02:59:32 PM +0100
It is yes

Gutted that I can't make this one, as I am in Glasgow for the week. These cars remind me of the BMW turbo
series that Tony ran a couple of years ago, they are a bit nuts  :o but I love them
My fave is the mustang corvette it's the easiest least difficult to drive, and the sound is creepily good  :walkman:
If anyone is struggling to control these cars, then try setting all the front suspension max hard
and the rear max soft, set the coast diff high, and power diff to lowest.

I see a couple of Chevys but no Mustang in this group, unless I'm missing it from my car pack?

hello,

how is the rules for come out of track?
i did any laps and often i come in grass and got a cutwarning,
as this cars are not easy to drive i think i will come any times out of track (and other perhaps too).

i can remember race in algarve where any of us get a pitbox penalty for to much cuttings (come out of track), is this in this race same rules?

i hope not, as in this track you can not cut (at least i do not know where), but the cut detection? (places when you get a cutwarning) is not good in this track, you get often a cutwarning only to come in grass and loose time,
so it would perhaps better to make cutwarnings out (or what name is), no fun if any of use must do a pitbox penalty for nothing.

other then this....
this cars are much more difficulty then the dtm92 cars, i did test 5-6 laps the capri, bmw and 1 of the nissans, all 3 cars was not easy for me in push push out of corners, think i did 1.25.xxx with each car, but not 100%.
i like old cars in raceroom game very much.

Reinhard

For all the races in this series I have set cut track to "slow down" rather than the stop and go, which, as you say, was too harsh
particularly for these cars.

So if you go off track often, the car will automatically slow down for a couple of seconds, then you continue as normal.
I believe it is enough of a penalty for deliberate cutting, but not too much for accidental grass tracking.

You were always too soft on them Matt!

A public flogging would be better.   ;D

I'm home from OZ but not doing any racing whilst I fit new pots to my pedals.  Any winky blinky brake lights after that will be my foot!

Still not interested in spending money on a half-baked sim but watching your progress with interest.

Title: Re: RRE Race Room Historics - Mid-Ohio - Aug 13
Post by: phspok on August 11, 2015, 07:50:24 AM +0100
Clive, a good sound thrashing may be appropriate with a large grid, but when there are only a few drivers
and you may only have one of them at your own pace, enforced pitting did as Reinhard said rather spoil the
Algarve event. Maybe if we get larger grids, the penalty will change, but for the moment the slow down
works well. It kept GT from passing me at Austria quite nicely  ::)

I hear you on spending money, this is not complete, and some of the features we are used to are not there yet
but half baked is unfair. The cars drive well, the tracks are much better done than the home brewed PG tracks we mostly used
it could do with some more tracks, but there is enough to run a series, and the racing is 1st class as far as it goes.
We could do with a decent size grid to make it even better  8) For the tracks and cars we are currently using
it's not a lot of money. You might actually enjoy it, Simon seemed to likeit, though he's gone quiet recently.
We are now using the SROUK server rather than my own, so hopefully connections will be more reliable.

Just had a play with the Dekon Monza. It's just a big cuddly pussy cat. In the same way that a starving tiger is a big cuddly pussy cat.

Utterly bonkers bunch of cars :)

Post by: phspok on August 11, 2015, 11:14:03 PM +0100
The Dekon is beyond my skill level. I have tried it a couple of times and failed miserably. The other Chevy that's not a mustang
is the most drivable for me. It is said that if a car is hard to drive then it's probably fast, so maybe if an Alien can tame it
it will be super quick, but my ancestors are not from the Asgard homeworld  :alien:

Post by: goldtop on August 12, 2015, 10:04:15 AM +0100
I wanted to see how far I could get on the leaderboards with the Dekon so I gave it an hour last night. Default setup didn't really work at all for me with entry oversteer and violent snap oversteer on corner exit catching me every time. I ended up softening the springs and arbs and raising the ride height. I controlled the resulting boat with careful damping and with some diff adjustments it worked out not too bad really giving me decent control but still off the pace of the Mekon in the Dekon at the top of the leaderboard  :alien:

http://game.raceroom.com/leaderboard/?track=1674&driving_model=2&car_class=4145

Gave the vette a go with similar settings and it felt much more rapid and within a couple of laps I was quicker.

http://game.raceroom.com/leaderboard/?track=1674&driving_model=2&car_class=4075

Both Datsuns are easier to get round and quicker than the chevies as is the bimmer.

My favourite car of this pack is unsurprisingly the 935  It also seems to be the quickest with at least a 10 kph advantage over everything on the back straight although it's easy to overdo it and lose time elsewhere.

http://game.raceroom.com/leaderboard/?track=1674&car_class=2859&driving_model=2

The leaderboard timings are real hotlap territory with flattering track conditions so I expect race pace to be a fair way off these times for me anyway.

Nice times.

Is there a difference in grip level then between the leaderboard hotlaps and normal free practice? I seem to be stuck in the 25s (free practice), but always there is a mistake somewhere.. Only tried the BMW as I noticed it has a Jagermeister livery, so I'm sold on that. Though I do like the 935, especially with Martini livery. And that sound..

I thought the default dekon setup at Ohio was OK. A bit leery and didn't respond well to being chucked around but was able to hook up some consistent laps. But you've got me worried that I've backed the wrong horse here and will be hopelessly out-paced in it :(

Yes, leaderboard conditions are definitely quicker probably same as quali or maybe even better.

Still haven't decided what to drive so I'll see who turns out in what on the night  :)

Would be nice to have a one drive per car series with these like Tony does with some of his GTL series  ;)

Hello fellow classic enthusiasts!

I saw some talk earlier in the thread about making this multi class as to let the DTM92 cars run as well. Is this race going to include DTM 1992?

I'm thinking about joining you guys if there is room, but probably wont be buying the Group 5 cars :/

Thanks,
Chris

I am not planning on merging classes yet. If anything gets merged, it is more likely to be the Classic Tourers and the DTM92
as they are similar performance. The Gr5 cars, when you can control them are way faster than the DTM92 or Classic tourers.
There are IMHO not enough variations as it is without reducing the choices for races. Just my opinion.

CHaps

I am away in Glasgow, so have no access to RRE. It seems to be that the session timer starts when someone connects
then restarts if all disconnect. What I usually do is join the server  at 19:45 then go eat, so the session counts down
I can't do that this week, and I know of no method currently to move sessions on.. so, could someone join at 19:45
and remain logged in? I will monitor this thread as best I can from my on/off hotel wifi, and can restart the server
with less time set, but it would be easier if I didn't need to do that  ;D

my brain and my arms hurt after that. I've no idea how you guys can keep it so consistent without binning it.

I was on the ragged edge trying to keep with the leader for the first half of the race (which was *properly* exciting) but I was inches away from a massive off on pretty much every corner.

First time I've ever raced the Capri and I have to say that it's ace. Bonkers and exhausting, but ace :)

Another low turnout but still enjoyable stuff.

Had a nice start to sneak the lead off Reinhard but then at start of lap 2 I got it all wrong at T1  :wetfish: Spent the next 10 minutes trying to claw back time and then a lapse in concentration put me in the gravel at T2 to undo all the work ::)

Managed to nab 2nd when Jim got off track but was never going to catch Reinhard in the remaining time.

Well there were at least 3 who might have come, but didn't make it, myself included.
The results output seem buggy, it seems to miss out one driver each event. I can probably edit the file
and enter the results, I think it lost roger if he was in a Nissan, but what name did you race under roger if so?

Hi .... roger dean, nick is roguk,  was in Nissan enjoyed race, could not compete with those 3 fast guys, 30 min race about right was concentrating so much on staying on track was knackered and no way to check all the info flashing up and top of screen.

Got to find out why RR will not start spent nearly an hour trying to get into game, it just sits at screen (4 weeks summer sale) tried launching from desk top short cut and from steam, reset comp twice just luck it worked just before race. Thanks for organizing and hope to race next week.

Roger, RR can take a while to load especially when you've made any in game graphics setting changes. Even on my SSD it can take over a minute which can be annoying but I've never known it to not start eventually. Best way to check is to tab out to task manager where you'll probably see it's still loading.

I had to make a guess at the tyres for the Nissan, I can correct it for the future.
Not sure yet, but it may be that names with two words confuses it. It seems to put an _ in
but sometimes it may not. I entered "Roger_Dean" and it bought that.

it was a difficulty race for me with this cars,

after i did loose p1 in start (or after T2 in long straight?, did forgot) i little surprised about topspeed of goldtop car and not sure if i would be able to stay in touch with him, but he did make mistake in T1 in next lap and was then 8-9 sec. behind me,
but the other capri from mr. belowski was still close behind me and i was not realy able to drive away,
i saw that goldtop comes step by step closer again, and mr. belowski was still 1-2sec. behind me and after 10-15min. perhaps it looks like that i am the slowest one of us three, but then goldtop and mr. belowski did mistake and i was around 13-14 sec. in front again,

which was very good for me, as i was already push on limit and not sure if i had survive this fast speed without make a mistake with this difficulty cars,
then in end of race the front tyres was very bad and my laptimes get slower and slower and goldtop comes closer with 0.5sec. a lap and last laps around 1sec.
lucky for me the race was over after 30min. and i did survive with around 5-6 sec. lead (i think, can not remember exactly).

30min. race is realy long with this grou5 cars, it did feel like 1hour with normaly modern GT cars, always try to drive as fast as possible without overshoot? the car and make mistake is realy not easy for me.

this cars are beast cars but realy good feeling to push around the track this cars are and the great sound make feelling more good, the capri had extrem good sound.

i hope, if the hot summer time is over, more people do make this raceroom game races, in Racedepartment the raceroom races (and most other races too) have low driver number too, and i did read, that they think it is because of summer time, so i hope for more people in near future, as this racegame is realy great fun.

Matt, re: the results. It could be that drivers who join (or rejoin) during qualy are not noticed?
