Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see
cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?pid=7) especially the
rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Race Room Racing Experience from Steam, and have the Euro and American Track Packs for this series (And maybe another
non pack track occasionally)
(4) Please exercise caution when pitting as some tracks have a speed limit.

(5) Please follow the SROUK guidelines for using kerbs etc. Please keep 2 wheels on the track surface (kerbs do not count as track surface)
Excessive cutting of corners will seen as cheating and the results may be altered to reflect this.

This is the 1st race in the new Season 2. Everyone now starts from scratch for points.

Format is likely to be the same as we have been doing.
I might slip in a different car set for one or more events to spice it up a bit.

Note: There will not be an R3E race 29th October as it is one of the Interleague P&G events
I will post that soon, when I work out a decent car/track combo for it

I'll be joining you, assuming there's space at the back of the grid! ;D I'll probably be driving the Audi.

Is there a list anywhere of what the rest of the season will contain? Makes it easier (and cheaper) to get the rest of the tracks in one go if you're new to the sim.

Great to have you with us Tibs. Matt hasn't announced anymore tracks for Season 2 yet, maybe this weekend?  ;)

If you bought Bathurst, Spa, Suzuka and the Euro and American track packs at the same time you will get a good discount and be covered for most eventualities (I hope).

Hi Tibs, and you are very welcome anywhere on the grid.
There will be a list when I finalise it for season 2
But as far as tracks and cars that will be needed you could buy individual tracks and cars if you like
but everything for this series will be in:

Tracks:
Euro track Pack
American Track pack
Spa
Suzuka
Bathurst

Car Packs:
DTM92
Touring Classics
BMW M1 Procar
Group5

I made the mistake of running at a track that wasn't in the Euro Track pack when I thought it was last season
I will try not to do that again  ::)
I am toying with Macau, but that won't be in the next 8 weeks if it happens at all.

Ooh M1's at Suzuka would be very cool  8) bought the track  :)

Was about to buy the Dtm and Bathurst last night but then realised I'm out next Thursday  :( any change to that and will try and join in.

Would be pretty cool to run an M1 series like the real deal back in the day

I know how keen you are on historical accuracy MJ, and I would like to do an M1 historically accurate season perhaps if we can.

This time I have gone for a single season with 4 variations rather than my usual 4 series for different car sets
mostly for simplicity and ease of management to be honest.  There are still things about an on line series with this that are not as
"reliable" as we are used to, but it is gradually improving. Would there be enough tracks to fit?

So far my thoughts are Group 5 at Spa, and M1 at Suzuka for two of the events, The Gr5 cars anywhere are a touch of masochism
only place they are really annoying at Spa is the bus stop, where you do actually have to stop to pick up passengers   ;D
We ran a test race with Gr5 at Speilberg, and they were drivable, was a superb race as I remember, partly because, err after
GT dropped, I managed to hold off Fede for a win  ::) Not gonna happen again I suspect any time soon.

For me the only Gr5 car I can sort of drive is the Vette, and I have to set everything front full hard and everything rear full soft
to stand a chance of finishing a race. At least 50% coast and 10 or 20 % power diff. The DTM92 and Touring Classics are very soft
and furry in comparison, but usually produce some good close racing  :thumbup1:

Having trouble purchasing Bathurst  :cursing:

Not even sure if I can make the race as my son is playing guitar at an open night at his school and I'm not sure if we'll be back home in time  ::)

Great as using the real M1 series tracks would be, just as happy to use our own set of tracks to make a series for them.  :)
Agree totally with your choice of Gr5 at Spa and M1s at Suzuka. Guess the Grp 5 would work well at circuits like Silverstone, Monza and A1-Ring for starters but not used them yet other than a brief test drive of the BMW in it so can't tell what suits them best.
DTM.s you can run almost anywhere, though personally I'd prefer them on authentic German/Austrian circuits for flavour, but that's just me  ;)

Touring classics series looks like it could be fun too.

Tony, give it up...I'm never going back to GTL ;D

Where's Clive? Come on in and join the Youngtimer fun  :)

Fair point, but then your missing out on some good racing in a fun selection of cars  :) plus though I don't agree with this modern way of pricing sims, at least you can cherry pick cars and tracks that you like in RR so you can do some cheap racing. I've only spent about 2 pints worth so far  ;D

More info on the Grp 5 cars, they contested the World Championship for Makes from '75 to 82 and the lot we get in RR are called the 4th generation Grp 5. Known as 'Special production Touring cars'
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Group_5_(racing)
Tracks used for them listed here:-

Fun for some but they are too modern for my liking.  Really don't want anything with wings on!  There seems to have been a recalibration of what people will consider as "Historic".

Should the PnG on NoGrip falter then I'm probably more interested in GPL's '55mod.  Anyway, too busy with my toy car stuff to devote hours and hours working my way around the problems in an unfinished sim.  The same goes for AC.  I'm just monitoring the situation in case something that I consider useable appears.

Had some time this afternoon and tried these  R3E DASHBOARDS AND IN-GAME WIDGETS  and Crewchief

R3E DASHBOARDS AND IN-GAME WIDGETS the dashboards work fine not been able to get the widgets to work

Crewchief works fine and is fun and informative, not assigned any actions yet and if you want to use voice to communicate you need a mike obviously.

I tried it and found it horrible, it wandered all over the road so I left it out for now
Then....... I realised the default setup had no coast diff, added some, and it became drivable  ::)
GT says there may be other cars in that goup to come? it will find it's way in at some time for sure
The leaderboards say it is very fast, so we could do with something betweek DTM92 and Gr5  :thumbup1:
Either I can merge DTM92 and Touring classics as they are similar pace, but that would need a lot bigger field to make it work
or we could have 5 car sets in the series. I had a go at finding something that could run with the Audi as I didn't really want another single make set, but things were either too modern/too slow, or too fast.
Clive's point is sort of valid about "historic" being modernised. If there were Escorts and E Types I would be
running them as well. but this was the best I could find as an alternative. PCars is good, and has a couple of old cars
but there wasn't enough IMHO to make a series. Anyway I like this sim even in it's unfinished state. I makes me smile  :)

As much as I like 60's racing and many of the great cars from that period,  my fave by far motor racing period is the late 60's, all of 70's O0 and then lot of stuff from 80's (now known as young timers) so I'm in sim racing nirvana racing cars from those eras.

Should also say I love modern GT racing too. The Gt class in ALMS and FIA WEC has been pretty awesome for years now  8)

Much the same. For me Flight sims were the same sort of thing, I always prefered WW1 or WW2 simple aircraft
rather than the fire and forget stuff.

Just tried the Audi GTO at Slovakia ring. Lack of visual markers mean the track takes some learning, but it's a good track for the Audi.
With a bit of setup tweaking, mostly to stop it spinning everytime I slow down or brake, it is great to 4 wheel drift it round
the faster corners. I will probably give it an outing in this series some time.

 Hey Phspok

I think the DTM's are a little faster, at Sonona I tested them both, with the DTM I get around a 1:35.5 and with the BMW touring I only managed a 1:36.5 I really feel there is about.5 to a second difference between them. But thats my opinion. If we combine Maybe all will just take the little faster DTM cars, then we might as well drop the touring class. But that class is super cool to drive, I like the touring class and that DTM is split.

Anyway I know you'll make the correct decision's your a legend friend.

What's a reasonable time around here? My Test Driver has set 2:15s in both the BMW 320 and Merc 190 - I'm much slower but only put a few laps in, whereas Grandson spent over an hour getting wound up!

I think is an ok lap, Its still like 3 seconds off the fastest guys. But I think 2:13's to 14's is good laps

Ok. If people still can't get it by tommorow evening, then this will become Speilberg Ring
and Bathurst will move to the next DTM92 event.

2:14s now....

Er.. that's assuming that everyone has the Euro Pack or Spielberg ring...
if not then it will have to be a free track - Portimao.

Bathurst will be the next DTM92 event which will be the 5th November as the 29th Oct is an Interleague P&G event.
Speilburg Ring will probably be the be the next Touring Classics event on the 19th November.
Was really looking forward to Mt Panorama, but if their on line store is a mess we have to work around it as best we can.  :(

We raced here for our first trial race and it was good fun but please watch out for the slow down penalties as it's so easy to run wide in a few places.

Hope you get it sorted Roger, was a good race, 3 races through the field  :D

The results say Jim was last, and I thought I saw a DNF message befre I left.
Is this correct?

Hey Gents

First I want to say sorry for bumping someone on lap 2. Sorry I really did not mean it. As I was entering the last left hander the rear wheel got onto the no go zone, instead of it slowing me down it pitched my rear wheels out and spat me over the grass, as I rejoined the track I hit someone. Sorry again it was not intentional.

Thank you for a great race once again. The penalties are cruel, thats why I decided to lap in the low 1:49's because if you just push wrong it hurts. Berger got it bad, Sorry Champ you where quicker.

Thank you all

Ant

The cuts here are easily done, there are a few places where they could be a little more forgiving perhaps. I like this style of cut tracks though
You put 4 wheels off a few times and you get an immediate slow down, I much prefer this to the annoying stop and go that can ruin a good race
this method just means the guy behind who is being more careful gets a go at you.

The replay thinks Jim is 3rd. I will sort it tomorrow.

It was me Ant....no problem I know it wasn't intentional.

Good fun racing back and trying to get past Matt's Opel which was a bit quicker down the straights. Looked like it was suffering from understeer later on allowing me to get a good run off the final bend and eventually sneak past.

Congrats podium.
