Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see
cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?pid=7) especially the
rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Race Room Racing Experience from Steam, and have the Euro and American Track Packs for this series (And maybe another
non pack track occasionally)
(4) Please exercise caution when pitting as some tracks have a speed limit.

(5) Please follow the SROUK guidelines for using kerbs etc. Please keep 2 wheels on the track surface (kerbs do not count as track surface)
Excessive cutting of corners will seen as cheating and the results may be altered to reflect this.

Not managed to turn a lap yet as been focusing on my E30 race Wednesday. But seems a smart move if they've done a 'massive' physics update  :P must try and find a spare half hour before Thursday eve.

They weren't kidding  :o

Smaller adjustment ranges in most categories including ARB's, Springs, and no individual gear cog tweaks. Less wing too. But car feels really planted although I felt that the steering was more prone to understeer and the brakes less effective but once you know these things it's a blast to drive.

Tony, I am downloading the update now, I was hectic busy today. They also changed the G27 settings, and my wheel was perfect. Hope I can make good adjustments before Thursday..

Its going to be fun Thursday.

They did not seem to do much to MP, I hope they put a little more time between qualifying and the race, so we don't lose Mr Berger like on Thursday.

There is also a server update which I have installed, can't easily see what the changes are.
The main game update is a biggie, takes up to an hour depending on your net speed.
please make sure you have done the update and reset your setups before Thursday race time  :o

Indeedy, if I can have all the entrants's names, exactly as they appear in RaceRoom, then I can add them to the names that Crew Chief can read, so the race information will be a bit more personal ("Morris is pitting now", "the next car is Morris", "you're reeling Morris in, the gap is now 0.4 seconds", "Morris smells of manky boots", stuff like that).

Even if the names don't make it in, you can still ask about other drivers with the voice recognition - "where's Berger", for example (the app will answer "p1". Always "p1" for Berger. I might even hard-code it to save the app having to rummage through the data looking for the leader. Grrrr).

All this is still unreleased - I've got the day off tomorrow (woohoo) so I'll get it all finished off and tested. I'll post a heads-up here, but the main release thread and links will be on the S3 forum's Community Workshop forum

hi anty,

this could be interesting for you,
as in past i think your car was sometimes unvisible for other drivers....

•Fixed an issue with players not seeing each other outside of P2P zone.

perhaps this fix your problem that you are sometimes unvisible (i think you was this?, or was this someone other?)

If you don't want to use the voice recognition, you just download the crewchief zip file, unzip it, run crewchiefv3.exe, select "race room" from the games list, and click "start application".

Then launch race room and that's it, it should all just work

You'll get regular updates from the app, like the ones I posted above (and a load more), without using voice recognition. The voice recognition is useful but I often drive a whole race without ever need to use it. The app is designed to work without needing it.

The app tells you things when they happen - lap times, damage, pitting, lead changes, etc

Finally did some laps! About 5 before to went to work this morning  ::) hardly the best prep for such a great combo.  :( Hope to get some laps in this eve before the event.
2:14 so far but sure more seconds to find.

I'm still not happy with the steering feel in RR, just doesn't give me the feedback I'm used to in AC. All a bit vague and floaty.

M1 Setup seems to have less options now. No adjustable diffs etc

My steering feels spot on, a bit heavy but not hard work to turn. I haven't changed anything re FFB since the upgrade.

Post by: phspok on October 22, 2015, 11:20:52 AM +0100
You can change the diff preload, which seems to change the strenght of it.
I am now not liking the steering either, where before It felt quite natural.
I will mess with it some, but the effect of changing a settng doesn't seem to
quite do what I expected. I think this aspect of the update is a mistake.

Been getting the odd 503 error too and generally menus and loadings all seem a bit sluggish these last couple of days. My guess: volume of traffic (literally) with everyone trying out the new update and clogging up the servers.

btw all cars in the Prototype Series and Silhouette Series have now been made free to drive  :)

It all seems to be working OK now.

I've 'officially' released Crew Chief v3.6.3 for RaceRoom -

This has some (but not all) of our names in it. I'd like to have had more time to test this, but it does seem to be working well (runs and hides...)

Eventually got update this afternoon loaded RRRE and now Pro car garage settings either don't alter or just have small adjustments, was hoping this update would give extra settings in garage IE fuel and tires, like some others have found steering is now poor, for me the wheel is heavy and twitchy and lacking the feel i had before update.

Thanks mr_belowski for Crew Chief V3 name is R Dean is it poss to use roguk instead please.

Hope to see you guys tonight on track will be in car 111.

I have something I can drive now, but it is in no way an improvement, the car handling or the steering mess up.
One thing I have noticed is that It now accepts input from the wheel of 90 deg or so rotation, where before
I have always just used the default G25 50 or so rotation, so i am forgetting now to turn the wheel enough :o

Hey Gents

Happy racing tonight.. I am not liking the update, because the cars don't feel free, also now If I qualify on pole I start stone last.. It this a bug.. Man whats the point of quali...? If I start last, I set the AI pretty strong and they just bump you off when I try to over take. DSP does not even hinder me because of my driving style.

I also took the GT3 for a spin that I tested for the GT3 even and its like toooooo easy to drive, whats the fun in that..

My impression is this has been dumbed down all over  :( cars are too easy to drive, setups are simplistic and inputs feel like marshmallow and wallowy.

Hey Gents

Can anyone tell me what happened in the race? When the race started I had no telemetry, nothing not even typre wear, all what I had on my screan was esc to pits. I was last and had to fight back hard, I really don't know where I finished. All I know is the last car I passed was black. I could not even see how much race time was left

Tony if I hit you I am sorry. Did not mean to. Was I visible in the race results? Ah man this game in now more bugged than ever.

You give up too easy Tony  :( me and several others had enough dramas through the race that meant you still might have had some fun.
Sorry guys but can't say I enjoyed that despite it seeming a dream combo. I just felt like I was driving an arcade game and lost interest quite early on. I only stayed in to see it through and give couple at the back someone to chase/fight. I may abstain until they improve it more.

Impressive pace up front and interested to see what your doing to make the car handle better but to me until I get a decent steering input it's not worth racing, plus numbers are low still.

The results file format has changed, it now shows each lap info for all people. it says "bad time" when I try to load it.
I will investigae/call for international rescue.

Ant made a slow start, I was carefull not to ram him, and then several people went past, then it all got a bit physical
Once we all got going it was good, I don't like the steering feel anymore, but it was drivable, and had a good race chasing Jim
who politely fell of to let me through after a while  :whistling: I then let Ant through at the hairpin, assuming he would
run away into the distance, but he didn't go that much faster. Maybe if they get a load of bad feedback they may revert the "downdate"

I will check tomorrow, I am a little annoyed. I had the pace to have a good scrap with Goldtop and Servus,

The reverse grid for the single player is a known bug.
I am sure my HUD disappearing is a bug

It was like driving in the dark, I am now really disappointed, they have taken the game backwards I feel.

The way I feel now it to leave the GT3 series till they sort out something with the online play.

Now I was visible but everything else was invisible to me

Here are the settings I used this evening which were perfect for me.....

And my race setup....

900 degrees in my Logitech profiler with the standard GTR2 type settings.

I tried the new AC update today to compare the McLaren at Spa back to back with RR and tbh they both felt very good and there was little to choose between them.

What a fantastic race and what a surprise result  ;D

Had a great race long battle with Reinhard who was pulling away from me on the first lap but then ran wide allowing me to pass and take the lead. Managed to hold on without too much pushing until I ran too deep at the chicane  ::)

Thought that was my chance gone but kept pace and managed to run a tighter line at the hairpin for a side by side race all the way round to Spoon. Didn't quite manage to keep the place that time but tried the same move the next lap and made it stick with a couple of laps to go  :sweatdrop:

Wonderful clean racing Reinhard just how it should be  8)

thanks for the settings GT, will give them a try later and see if they improve the steering input, though I have a fanatec CSR_E wheel.
I saw the steering was at 720 in mine but I tried upping it to 900 thinking that's what its supposed to be..ie 900degs rotation. That was naff so I scaled it back to 800 but still didn't like it. I had 800 with a lock of 32 in the end I think.

Cant compare setups yet as mine seem to be in imperial, need to change to metric. Though I see I ran too much wing at 1-3

i had a great battle with goldtop the complete race,

it was very difficulty to stay in touch with him and not doing a mistake, with this cars it is so easy to make a mistake (for me).
i was anytime direct behind him and was try to overtake, but with slipstream i was not able to overtake him, i was thinking....damn why i did set my rear wing to 4, i had should let it to 3 (orginal),
i was thinking goldtop use wing 3 and so i was surprised too that 1 click less wing make so much different in top speed, but now i do see that goldtop use rear wing 1 in his pictures, so this explains the big different in topspeed.

complete race was clean and we did change anytimes the lead, if i was in lead (think 2xtimes) i was try to push push and make a gap, but always if i did try to push, i did little to late brake, which this car do punish you very much, each little mistake you can not correct, so drive exaclty lines and have exaclty brake points is so important in this car now.
for me, the car do understeer if i brake to late and understeer if i push push to early out of a corner, no sure if i like the car now more as before the update.

i have similar wheel setting as goldtop, i did use 890° and 28 or 29° steering lock (before update i had 34° steering lock i think), so goldtop 720°/23° should be exaclty same wheel sensible.
the orginal 720°/20° did looks little slow reaction and so i did a little more sensible(quick).

still not much drivers in R3E, but i had much fun, i like that in R3E you can make close races with ohter driver, in AC for example this is nearly not possible to do for 30min. without a accident happen.

servus (which is not my name anty, this is same a hello, or goodbye, or hi,  only in bavarian language, haha)

Hello Mr Berger

I watch the reply and man I wanted to be there with you guys, I see you had a very good battle.

The bug I had last night is known, one of the beta testers has confirmed it for me. I was really flying blind. I hope it does not happen again to me. But overhaul it was ok chasing down people in front, I felt a little like Hamilton last night. Hahaa

Martin, I slowed down after passing you, I thought I bumped you thats why you went on.

PS. What position did I finesh in? I still don't know

I also think RRE' s Update is a step in the Wong direction, and the online part sucks BAD!

Earlier this evening I joined an online LFS race in their version of the Lotus Super 7.

It made me wonder why we don't use LFS. It's by far the best simulation IMO, and the online facilities are unparalleled.

The cars are not copies of real life cars, the tracks are fictional and the sounds, even though they are generated and very accurate, are boring.

But it works flawlessly,  you can design your own skins, you can Use weight or power handicaps as you please, you can design your own track layout ( automatically downloaded when you enter the race ) you can exchange setups online, the tire physics are awesome, the clutch is worn down if you treat it like a brute, you get instant messages like "new track record", The list goes on and on.

As much s I like the looks and the sounds of the cars in P@G and RRE, I'm fed up with all the errors and problems.

Never heard of it, I will have a play with it. There are two problems with it that hit me immediately:

1: The cars are not real, and a lot of people here don't like fantasy tracks nevermind fantasy cars that are "a bit like" real ones.
half the point of what we do here is to emulate real world racing.

2: For the Thursday night races, which have been historic of some form or another for the last few years, there is nothing in this that suits.

I am downloading it, and if enough people agree with you, I will run some test events.

I tried LFS yonks ago when I was first dabbling into simracing so can't comment on how good it is/was because it has bound to be different now. Lots of simmers rave about it and there are leagues dedicated to it so it surely has to be good.

Having said that, quality of content is a biggy for me. Raceroom has great historic cars and great GT/sports cars which drive superbly and look stunning on track and are set in packs that are ready and waiting for league racing. There are no dodgy mods to download or test or become unusable after every update and the devs continue to develop existing content and work on new goodies for us. It does currently lack some important features but we are assured that these are being worked on and in the meantime it still produces excellent racing.

I'm not opposed to trying different sims, in fact totally the opposite but Raceroom is the package that is most appealing to me at this time.

Just did a few laps in LFS demo with all 3 free cars, and though it was quite nice there was nothing in it that made me want to buy any more content.
It looks arcadey, the cars handle well. the sound is terrible, could be me being thick, but couldn't get the FFB to do anything.
Perhaps I'm just grumpy this morning, but it did nothing for me.  ???

Importer updated to cope with the new format; a lot more race data is available now, please check the results carefully. :)

hello,

good that now in r3e we get better results.

only the racefinish possition is not correct,

last 3 drivers should be oppsite, with 14laps behind leader tony should be last, and with only 5laps behind leader finished, mr.belowski should be 3rd last, not last)

and the fastest race laps the game do not understand too it looks like, as tony have fastest racelap without haveing a laptime.

but i am happy that now results works better.
