just a heads up to all, I am looking to run this either next week or in 3 weeks time as I am not about on the weds 4th November. I have pm'd Chris to see how he wants to play it, ie two weeks of his rounds or bring mine forward to next week. I don't want to miss a round of my own short series! I am enjoying it  :)

Got some early praccy in this eve. A pb of 1.59 so far using 'fast' grip and with medium tyres and full race fuel.
Cars are fun in the stadium complex with some nice controllable oversteer  :)
Forgot until typing this that softs lasted a race last time! So may be more time to drop unless they've tweaked the tyres again since  :-\

I did a short offline race yesterday on softs with race fuel. Believe i set grip level to fast and got down to a 2.04s. That was in traffic with the "outstanding" AI.. Will have a go on the server when it is up and see if i can shave some more seconds.
(probably sunday or Monday evening, so maybe we could practice on ChrisR's server?..please?)

After six laps my rears where down to 95%, so i am not sure if these would be that good after about ten laps in.

Ok thanks. But most of the time when i am able to do some practice it is Sunday evenings or Monday evenings, so it is not available. So it would be nice to have some back-up server online if possible. On the other hand i now can experience the single player/AI aspect of AC  :P

Do wonder if a lack of a regular practise server harms us sometimes, particularly for new guys looking to dip their toes in the water  :-\ bit like postal I often look on a Monday eve only to find none present.

I know it's tough to join when others may be on same time but can't recommend enough being online to practise with other drivers present. You usually learn more in 15 minutes than you might for two hours offline, especially if some of the good drivers/set up engineers like Ed or Chris are on. Just comparing things like gear ratios or suspension can save you a lot of wasted laps testing on your tod plus you get an instant benchmark in lap times  :)

Yes, i am not sure if it is a big factor in getting people involved, but it surely is more immersive to me, being able to do pre-race practice with your fellow racers.
Talking setup tweaks and just bs with other racers was what created a great atmosphere back in my LFS days. There was always someone online during the evenings. However there where always two servers available, so that made it much easier of course. And i realise this site is running more than one title to make it even more complex.

I can run a practice server on the Monday. Just search @Jester, with standard PW.

Hi MJ. I was on-line yesterday, only later. Think i was on around 9.45 CET. Figured i had missed most people on-line, but it was just not possible to get behind the wheel earlier.

Did a stint with gearset 1, which will be faster of the start line, but i just cannot be smooth with it. Did another stint on gearset 2 and it felt better immediately. Also improved my pb, however cannot dip below 2.02 sec mark.

These are the sounds I installed for the E30 a while back, I think they improve the car sounds nicely both in and out of the car. Replay sounds are excellent.

Have to highly recommend Fonsecker sounds for the BMW Z4 GT3 too, used them in a race sunday and sounded like the real deal. 8)

 :'( :'( Don't know why I finished last one lap down, had most of the race with Frex and Mark, strange, did not do anything wrong apart from two wheels off at one point. Had a blue flag all of the race for some strange reason. Weird!

Really Enjoyed that despite having my third round on the trot with nobody to race!  I seem to be too quick for the rest of the pack but not fast enough to trouble the front four so I spend the whole race in between  :P.
At least this time I kept within visual range of the 3 cars ahead all having a good battle. :) but didn't see anyone behind me from about lap 2 onwards  :( i was a bit shocked to see nearest laptime was 3 seconds slower  :o tardy lot  ;D

Good turnout considering a couple of regulars were missing, though disappointed to still not attract any new racers from NG or Kunos. But thanks to all who attended and raced to the end, hope there were good battles.  :)

Bob, not sure what's happened for you, will watch the replay and get your correct position adjusted.

Just watched the replay, Bob finished right behind Spanner and in front of Frex (nice close racing you 3 had)
so can the powers that be change the standings and put Bob 7th?

Ahhh just gutted i missed that one. Was looking forward to race here. Lesson learned not to touch any update buttons before setting up a race session.

Not sure how to do that or even if I can, I'll have a word with Dave. Interesting that both Dave's importer and the AC Log Parser lost Bob for a lap. I'll try and check my replay tonight to see if anything funny was happening around the end of lap 5. Bob had a very long lap 5 according to the lap charts.

 ; ???  Checked replay and can't see anything untoward apart from Frex on my back bumper most of the lap. It was from lap five I had the blue flag come up so it must be a hiccup with the game. it's not important, it didn't spoil an excellent race.

I think I know what happened. You went a bit wide in lap 5 and went on the grass and with that I think you just missed a timing sector, hence a miscount for a lap and considered a lap down. It's a problem with some tracks that they have the timing sectors too close to the track and not set further in the field or against barriers.

Good to see a couple of new (old) faces joining the action last night.  :) We were missing Postal, Shark and Sutol so knocking on the door of 15 cars  :) Just surprised that a popular car and decent tracks combined with promoting it elsewhere still doesn't pull in more racers  :-\
I often see Brit racers in other AC forums races but we don't seem to pull any new guys here. I was in a 25 car grid GT3 race Sunday night and it was epic with someone to race for a whole hour, so a real shame we can't get those numbers here.

Race results amended and championship standings updated. Hopefully it'll go wrong again soon so I don't forget how to do this and have to annoy Gizmo  :-[ His LM2 stuff is all encompassing when you look deeply in to it  :notworthy:

personally i HATE the group A and the DTM, the standard E30 is my prefered car out of all the E30's.

Really good fun that, with Bob and Frex but you've got me worried now. Being that you got passed me then dropped back even behind Bob, so did you think i was too defensive? I tried to drive to a line that i thought allowed the two of us through, but having not driven it before i might have misjudged it so sorry for that.

it looked a good 3 way fight in the replay for most of the race  :)

In hindsight I should have closed the points scoring up for this series  :-\ the points from 5th onwards suck a bit. Lesson learnt for next time, is my first series after all  :P

No not at all, no problem with your driving and no apology necessary. When I passed you we traded some paint and I thought I had pushed you wide. Actually it wasn't too bad, but I wasn't happy at the time so let you back through. I hadn't meant to let Bob through as well but with the next corner coming up fast it was tricky getting back online without getting in his way, so it was safer to just drop in behind him.

Anyway none of that matters, it was great fun all the way, really enjoyed it. Thanks to you both, and congrats podium.

Thanks Jeffrey. It gives us not so alien drivers a good base into understanding car setups. Will certainly give it a whirl :thumbup1:

Well...about that  :P. I min/maxed a lot of things in this setup. Car feels very neutral/understeery with default setup. So I just went to the limits with quite a few settings, and it was fun to drive. Nice lift off oversteer en pointy steer in during braking.

Not in any way is this setup a proper setup, it just made the car fun to drive for me, and it suits my driving. I can imagine other people hating this setup, as people did in the past with my GTL/GTR2 setups :P. But never hurts to share, maybe somebody enjoys it now :)
