Apologies its Imola again ontop of Chris' round, but it was already in the season schedule. At least you all have plenty of practise on it now albeit the M-series will be a tad different in the handling department to a Lambo!  :P  Think these will be good fun around here  :)

If its possible to have the server running this combo this eve that would be handy? Want to get some laps in and check the number of laps required.

I don't mind it being the same track MJ. I normaly have to do a lot of laps to get comfortable on a "new" track. Now i already know the quirks of this track and can get some setup laps in with the little practice time i have available.
Did a few laps offline and it feels nice and tame after the Lambo  :angel:  Was doing a 2.09s on fast surface i believe.

You might need a bit more praccy, I was doing 2:04 on fast track with full race fuel.  ;) I was wondering if the cars a lot slower round here now, maybe since the tyre updates?  :-\ as I had a setup saved at a 2:01 time but I couldn't get near it in the half hour or so I tried.

I crept into the 2:03's but can one of you alien-esque drivers let me know what laptimes you can achieve so I can set the lap numbers correctly. Im guessing you can get 2:01's at least.  :-\

15 Laps should get you a bit above 30 minutes.

Can we get some clarification about the chicane. 2 Wheels on tarmac or all the way untill the grass (not touching the grass) allowed?

They are very vague. AC is very lenient at a lot of points, and I saw some blatant cutting at Donnington a while ago (2 wheels full on the grass). So hence I ask, better to have everybody on the same mindset before the race, than complain afterwards  :angel:

4 wheels off is never allowed in Motorsport as far as I'm aware (excusing some f1 drivers  ::) ) so think we can manage to keep two wheels on the black stuff. Will accept the odd indiscretion but if someone's gaining an advantage every lap from severe cutting then not on. Imola provides the normal kerbs and grass-Crete edging to help in the tighter corners which should be plenty.  :)

Well, add 5 seconds to my laptime then  :P.


We can go all the way on the green stuff on the outside (not the grass for the smart guys here  :P).

If you're using all that green stuff then you're obviously going too fast. SLOW DOWN!  :P

usually the unwritten rule is as long as 2 tyres are inside the white track lines at all times then its acceptable..

Thanks for having the server up and running Jester. Did quite a few laps and managed to shave 1.6sec of my PB. After my stint re-did my setup again and it feels better, so maybe i can find another second. However this still does not get me anywhere near the 2.03s or faster mark, so it won't be much of a race for me i guess. Will see tomorrow eve if i feel like bringing up the rear of the field.

I wouldn't worry too much about matching my times Stefan, don't forget I've so far spent every round in no mans land between the aliens and the chasing pack plus I haven't got near my wheel in 4 days  :( There was a gaggle of cars having a good race at the last Beemer round.  :)

Am doing 2:08s on a good lap with fuel using my hochenheimring setup.

New tyre model having an impact where the hot pressures are lower than the cold ones which make no sense!

Chaps I can't see a password anywhere. The race doesn't look like its linked into LM2i properly so maybe why its not displaying. Anyone PM me the password?

Only 3 minutes left before booking ends. I tried the usual practice password but it says "invalid" so must be something else and I haven't a clue what it is. All the other race threads have passwords in them but not this one.  :(

im struggling to get in too, stupid steam didn't do the update first time and I got a checksum error and kicked. Its now doing a download at dial up speeds so not sure I will get in on time  :'(

Tonight i seemed to be suffering badly from my brake pedal spiking. Because of it I only really got a single qually lap and in the race there too many people around to have to press it fully to clear it as i'd get someone up my back. So in the first 2 laps i ended up at the back with it as it slowed me significantly >:(

Sorry I didn't support tonight's race, been under the weather a bit hope to be back next week.

jeez what a night of misfortune that turned out to be  :'(

had troubles logging in as the game didn't update properly, then when I got in I had no engine sounds so had to exit the game again  ::) Been ill last few days so had no practise since Saturday, and so missing tonights practise and half qually scuppered me.

Still....got in with about 5mins of qual remaining and bagged 4th or 5th on the grid  :)

Only to find from lap one the car felt nothing like it had in all my practise sessions under braking and had developed a snap sensation (felt like a differential change) or braking anomaly which wanted to kill me in half a dozen corners. Hence my questions about server settings or car update at end.  :-\
Mixed it with the big boys for about 2 laps at the beginning but just couldn't live with them and dropped back into my usual 'behind the aliens' ringside seat.
Never got near my pb, in fact 1.1 secs off it so don't know whats changed unless id got rusty since Saturday  ???

To rub salt in the wounds my race-long held 4th place was lost to Erik on the final corner complex on the last lap when under braking the car pitched me off the track and gave Erik an easy position gain  :'( Just a bit miffed at that  ::)

funny you should say that mark, when i was practising on the server throughout the week i was getting 2'03 on mediums all night long, on softs i was 2'01's consistantly even at 96% tyres.. and i was no where near my 2'00 PB.. the time of day was the same wasnt it? as i know that will effect the grip.

Jeeze, probably a good job I wasn't there then, as I was managing 2:06/2:07 in my practice laps! I'm obviously missing something with these cars to be so far off the pace as I don't feel like there's lots of time to find for me.

You can try my setup posten in a previous thread. For me that gave me a few seconds compared to the horrible default serup.
IiRC you have a smooth driving style, and I think these cars work better being thrown around.

I don't think it's my setup, by I have meant to try your manic setup out anyway. You're right I'm not a chuck it in sideways kind of driver though, even though that's fun, it normally results in the track needing some barrier repairs.  ;D

So some went slower than what they did before, but I was somehow 2sec faster than what I was able to do  ???
Had an excellent start and went slow through turn 1 to be on the safe side, but then at turn 4 the car decided to keep going left  >:(  So it was trying to climb from the back up to the front. At one point I had a good place to overtake Chris (Sutol), but the bloody shifter didn't go in gear, so that was another loss in time. With a lap after I did pass him, I nearly lost it to him again as the car did again a snap oversteer. I finally came to the one I was aiming at (MJ) as he was to only one I thought, I was able to catch before the end. Unfortunately I made a few mistakes and only got to MJ in the last lap and with no clear idea on his braking points it was only hoping for a drag race for the finish-line. Unfortunate for him, he had the bleeding snap at the final double lefthander, giving me fourth place.

Not sure how significant it is but in the announcements it specifies a time of day and a cloud cover. However when you set up an offline session it also asks for a temperature. I find the conditions are sublty different when i got on the server.

when you setup a server it should automatically select the temps based on the weather and the time of day.. so if the time of day are the same and the cloud cover is the same it 'should' be the same when you go on your own server. i personally leave these values as default but i don't know what mark does.

Would be nice to know what track you've chosen for coming Wednesday, MJ  ;D

I tried this car there a few weeks ago and it was great. It gets its legs stretched a bit more and had a nice flow.

With the help of my able assistants (Tony and Pete) will get a race thread put up  :) :-*
