Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

I know this is a long way off, but doesn't the qually period need to be longer, otherwise we will not be able to do an out lap & a flying lap. Unless of course there is a short-cut to start the flying lap!

Looks like I've copied the timings across from a two race event. Thanks for the heads up, I'll revise the times. And there is an outlap shortcut.

Shortcut details

Leave the pits and go down to the roundabout and continue passing by the rear of the pits. Take the first LHB slowly and afterwards look for spur road on your right. Take spur road slowly and it will lead you to main track just before pit lane entrance.
Sometimes you get a cut warning, most often not. I think key is going really slowly until your back on main track. Worth testing before the race.

Don't think this a problem as it is before the start finish line when the lap timing starts for new lap. ???

Are there any laptimes out there for comparison reasons - I think I'll stick with the Skoda and I'm sligthly over 10:30 at the moment. Hope to improve under 10:30 on my hometrack.  :P

Hi guys!

I know some of you already know the news. I'm a father since last April. And since then, my life has changed a lot. Those who are parents, you know what I'm talking about.  ;)
I have not put running my dear computer since his born. The little girl consumes too much time. But I'm very very happy.  :D :D :D
I hope to return soon to the races. I miss you all.

Have fun!

Hehe, it seems YOU hold the lap record in the Abarth, at 10:04  ;D  (I know Tony beat me to it, but it's still funny  :))

Did a 10:06 in the Skoda yesterday, and a 10:10 in the Abarth.

Jose, big congrats !!   Do hope you manage a little sleep still, and that you'll be back to play with the rest of us soon.

So it's not the same as the standard Abarth we're using ?

Btw, found the shortcut yesterday, so thanks for the info.  Haven't managed to use it without a cut warning, no matter how slow I go, but it doesn't matter as it's only relevant for practice & qualifying.

There's really no need Tony - the timing starts when you cross start/finish, so doesn't matter - unless of course you're planning to use it in the race itself..  ;)

OOOOOPPSSS - actually I overlooked that very important point  ;D. It's indeed extremely rare that I hold a lap record  ;D ::) :P .
In fact maybe the Abarth should be an alternative - I'll give it a try.

Tony, a suggestion regarding qualifying:

It's currently set to the usual 20 minutes.  If you extend it by 5 minutes, everyone can do 2 laps, if using the shortcut.  Alternately, it could be lowered to 15 minutes, if we only get one timed lap, again with the shortcut.

Cheers,
Erling

Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to make this one due to a previous commitment. :(

It's a shame as I know the track well from GPL. Scenery is a lot different but the layout is very familiar. Circulating in the 9:58's at the moment (Mini) but that includes a few untidy corners so I'll continue practising on the off chance I can make it as I'm sure there are a few seconds still to be found.

Sorry not able to join you guys, but I tried everything that I could think of to get into the paddock. I even forged my birth certificate!!!

Opted for the Skoda, just because it is the only car I have driven from this set.
First attempt to join server showed most of you listed as driving Chev Camaro 1967's???  Quick as a flash I figured that was not right.... so I deleted the Camaro 67 from my Teams folder...that'l fix the prob  ;) GTL cannot load a car that I don't have  ;D :smartass:

Re-joined.......this time tried a mini...It seems that a lot of you retrieved your Camaros from the bin and my mini was refused entry!!!

Went away and re-downloaded the Skoda and Pelle's mini set...installed again...restarted server and....."car not present on server"

One last time tried to join server. "I know I'll take the Abarth, coz that is preloaded as a standard car and that cannot fail to load.................................booted, race started!!!

Going to eat my way through a box of chocolates instead, it is less stressful and might actually be enjoyable!  :-\

Put in a safe banker lap in Q then went for it on Lap 2. All was going so well until Brünnchen when I lined the corner up and watched it go straight past and got a "Lap will not count" so found myself 6th on the grid for the start.

Start was so so lost 1 position to ATI who seemed to have RATO fitted as an option on the Fiat so settled in behind Matt for the run down to T1. Around the long right hander and onto the straight behind the pits. Got a good run out of the corner and both Matt and myself out dragged Erling down to the next corner with me getting my nose in front and having the inside I held the position and with a bit of scraping of metalwork was though to 5th. Got a poor run through Flugplatz and Matt re took the position on the run down to Schwedenkreuz. Then it got all very untidy for a few minutes when what little skill I have seemed to desert me and a few unforced errors let Matt open a small gap. Then it all fell in a horrible heap at Wehrseifen when I spun into the inside wall. I almost hit esc right there fearful of the chasing pack and not wanting to ruin anyone's race as it was I was avoided by everyone apart from Bob. (Sorry Bob). :( Eventually the dust settled and I rejoined in 11th and began chasing down the quartet of Roguk, Eifelblitz, Tony and Bob. Manage somehow to take 3 of them on the run up to Kesselchen and then set my sights on Bob ahead. Closed him down by Hohe Acht and was suddenly surprised to see him flash me through at Wippermann. Why Bob? Am I that dangerous. I expected to follow you all the way to the Döttinger Höhe straght when I hoped the superior speed of the Mini would carry me past. So up to 6th but a long way back from Erling although I did keep getting the odd glimpse of him ahead. Then Erling was replaced by Ati who must have had a moment somewhere.. Shortly afterwards I was chasing Erling again as Ati recovered onyl to see Erling had taken the postion back just as I screwed up the run down from Kallenhard and went right up the bank giving the poor Mini quite a bump. Set off again after Erling and Ati But losing ground to both of them all the time. Then as I entered the Döttinger Höhe straight for the final time I found Erling had stuffed it into the hedge and I inherited a very lucky 5th which I no way deserved.

TTFN
John.

John:
It wasn't you that I was afraid of it was the little Fiat.  Our collision tweaked my front suspension and it pulled to the right.  Also if I applied the brakes hard it would take off to the right or left.  Just wanted to finish and get as many team points as possible.  I flashed several drivers by but repassed some too when they went off.  It's just racing, Good Fun!!!

As you get a fail always after one lap maybe it's not Internet related.

Grats to Ziu on win

Grats to Podium

Gutted not to have finished race, because of making stupid error.

Kaifos i Used to get lots of discos with GTL and GPL, found doing a fresh install of them cured the problem.

Good race for me yesterday, not perfect but good. During race i had some problem with my PC and i need solve it in the next days. It has been a great advantage to racing with Mini that helped me. But i sure that if Attila or Geoffers had  the possibility to drive  Mini here i think few possibilities for me. I sure it was possibile go under 9:30 because in qualy i had not a great T1 i think i lost 1 second about. I builded  pole after  Adenauer Forst. My program was to get qualy lap on second lap because i was sure to find traffic, but when i passed Adenauer i took courage, the track was free so i started to push hard but i keeping always cleaned lines, not need here to be agressive. When i passed Bergwerk i understood that i was flying i saw the car timer so i got confidence the car setup it was very good. I known that a Kesselchen i could loose some speed but it was my choice to have tyres pressure very low specially in the front. After Kesselchen i drove cleaned without mistakes and i get pole time. About race not more to say, i started so so (i need work on this), I passed Geoffers on Nordkehere following the Kai action, so i tryed to put pressure Kay, he mistake on Brunchen so i could pass him. After Kai is disappeared on the start straight so i could control the situation hoping that Attila could keep podium. I had just a problem on the 3th lap with my PC, i have solve it. Thanks to Tony i understood about shortcourt and thanks to Attila and Bob, we rocovered the first place on the team championship.

Do love Nürburgring and had high hopes for the race yesterday, but what a disappointment it ended up being.

Herculean effort in qual knocked over 3 secs off my pb, but with aliens and handicap limitations, it only got me 5th on the grid.  Jumped a couple of the slow starting Minis, but they summarily outdragged me on the following straights.

Avoided John in his moment, but Bob behind me didn't, so got a gap from that. Up ahead, the lead group was pulling away.  Mid-L2, I came upon and passed a recovering Attila. He was on my case right away, and slipstreamed past at the beginning of L3.  Behind us, John was closing in his Mini.  Retook the position from Attila when he repeated John's mistake at Wehrseifen.  Didn't take long for a car to appear in my mirrors. Hoped it was John, as even in a Mini, he would probably be more manageable than Attila, but of course it was the latter.

Drove my socks off for the remainder of L3 and most of L4, trying to stay ahead of him.  Looked good late on L4, as I seemed to get a better exit from the 2nd carousel and had a gap that just might have held to the finish.  Then all went tits up.  Grazed the left side hedge when entering Döttinger Höhe straight.  It sent me across the track and into the right side hedge, doing a crazy somersault.  Car came to rest upside down.  When it finally righted, it was - of course - facing the wrong way.  Not much room to turn around between the hedges, and when I had done that, Attila & John were long past.  Thus limped home in a disappointing 6th place.  Gutted, as I had a very real chance of beating Attila, if only I hadn't touched that stupid hedge  :(

Grats to the podium & of course Attila + John.

Cheers,
Erling

one round Nuerburgring  and the web are always disconnected?? ???  Always ???
what the problem?
As you get a fail always after one lap maybe it's not Internet related.

Maybe try this out https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=12160.msg218224#msg218224

Thanks for the tip.

Results (https://googledrive.com/host/0BzUpS2smyYQ_TVBlejktYi1hSnc?ltmpl/index.html)

 8)

Always a challenge to race on my hometrack. Could not find any suitable setup for the Skoda (my deepest respect to Tony for choosing that one) so I did choose the Abarth. Could find a suitable setup and had four good laps with only minor offs, was able to match my old lap record from the Real Mod race three years ago (in my fastest lap I got a cut warning for leaving the track at the outside in the long right hand bend just before Schwalbenschwanz  ??? otherwise I possibly would have beaten the 10:00) and had a nice battle during first lap with Tony.

Thanks for organizing to all involved.

Excellent result for me, didn't expect to be the fastest Abarth, its not a car I have driven much in the past & when I have, I haven't really liked it.

Got a great start & passed the 2 Minis in front well before Sudcurve. Power told along the back of the pits & Kai went past & I kept to the right & let Ziu past too, no point in holding him up as he was much faster. Spent the rest of lap 1 keeping Ati at bay although he dropped a few seconds back towards the end of the lap & was getting some attention from Matt. Kai's disco put me into 2nd place & with Ziu well up the road & Ati & Matt battling behind I was free to concentrate on getting my line right on lap 2.

Lap 3 was a bit different, Ati having gone off Matt was starting to close in, so I pushed a little harder which resulted in a couple of small mistakes & Matt getting by along the Dottinger Hohe. I kept close at the start of the final lap & when Matt made a mistake at the end of the Hatzenbach section I thought I could take advantage. Unfortunately the gap wasn't big enough & I gave Matt a small harmless bump, but I had to jump on the brake just as Matt was accelerating & any chance of keeping up was gone. Just concentrated on keeping it tidy for the rest of the lap, & was more than happy with 3rd at the end.

Congrats to Ziu & Matt.

Ah yes, sorry for the road block Geoffers, I put it in 1st but it just slowed it down too much, and then 2nd bogged down.
