Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None.

IMPORTANT

Roguk has managed to find a fix for the Skoda stall problem. I know it's the final race but hey-ho.

So, if your planning on running the Skoda you need to download this http://www.mediafire.com/file/s8hic89xonop84f/Skoda130RS_Stall_fix.zip

Unzip and install into your Skoda main folder and allow it to overwrite the existing file.

The server has been done so if you choose the Skoda and don't do the fix you will probably get miss match messages and loads of abuse from the other guys who have done it.

Thanks Rog, at last it is possible to rescue a dead Skoda.   ;D ;D

So Geoffers has this Championship in the bag but 2nd and 3rd places are still undecided. Hope we get a good turnout for the last "normal" race of 2016.

I'm sure I will not like the answer but. . . . Has anyone got the Abarth under 2 minutes yet? I'm still a long way off but I'm sure it's possible. I think I still have something to find through the Lesmo's and the Parabolica.

I was blasting around the Anglesey circuit in these the other night, if they make another appearance I think that would be a great track for these. (Or any of the other lower powered beasties).

Thanks both, I knew it was possible. I can get into the low 2.00's with what feel like quite scruffy laps but then I do a nice clean lap hitting all the apex's and post a 2:01. It seems getting on the power as early as possible pays dividends here, a bad exit is a lot more costly than a poor entry. Can't even get out of the 2:02's in the Skoda. :(

With Skoda also it s possible go under 2 minutes. These time Abarth and Skoda very close, rather for me Abarth here is better than Skoda.

I had 1 lap @ 159.7 in the Abarth, but cannot repeat it.  It was on lap 5 of a race fuel run.  Looked at the replay several times and can't see what made it happen.  Think it might be just one of those GTL timing flukes....  Most of my laps are right around 2.1, give or take a few hundreds each way.  Staying focused is my problem, mind seems to drift away on such a big track with this car and the steady drone of the engine.
Might not be the place to mention it but Cap is running LM55 cars Sunday on Nogrip for those who need a "oldie" fix.. I can't make it, sure wish I could.

With so little power & using the highest gearing, it is all about keeping momentum in the Abarth. Don't know which gears you guys are using for the corners, but I use 3rd for both Lesmos & 2nd into the Parabolica. Using 2nd at the Lesmos seems to scrub off too much speed & probably loses 0.5s. 3rd seems a bit ponderous there but is definitely quicker.

I would not be surprised by a 1.58 in qually in the Abarth, but anyone using the Mini should be much faster.

Sorry, slightly off topic, but if any of you guys fancy a race in the 50s cars, NG are running them tomorrow (Sunday Dec 18th) at Clermont Ferrand. You won't need to download the cars as they are the same as we run here, so just the track. For those doing the 63WSC series it will be a chance to try out a track we will be using later in the season!

Did a shake down session a few minutes ago, just to make sure that I had circuit etc ready for Monday evening. Somewhat alarmed  :o :o to find that what felt a near perfect first flying lap in the Skoda, produced a 2:14 sec lap!!  :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared:

Feeling better now that I have discovered the Monza track WITHOUT chicanes!!! :whistling: :whistling: :whistling: and first 3 laps were 2:01,3...2:04....2:00,003 and still not got that 2nd Lesmo right. So I would agree with Ziu that the Skoda should go sub 2:00, but only if I can control that oversteer tendency  :-\

Mostly last places but I really enjoyed this series. Love these small cars, especially the Skoda (impatiently waiting for the Imp, which I've never seen here in Germany in reality)
and I love "old style racing" on those 60's tracks like Zandvoort, Monza, Spa etc. where you can race without chicanes and other modern stuff.

The Skoda with about 5 hp more and a smaller gap between 3rd and 4th gear or a 5-gear box would have been really competitive.

Great fun with Tony and Steve slipstreaming around the track. Sorry again for the bumps guys.

Congratulations to Geoffers for the Championship, Matt for the win and especially Bill for a great 2nd place (always felt that the combination Bill/Mini can be a factor).

And a big thanks to Tony and all involved in organising this series - results to be posted tonight.

Merry Xmas - cu all in Suzuka for the Xmas-Special.

Had a 2nd place in the Championship before this race, but only 2 points ahead of Bob.  Thus worrying when he posted having done a 1:59 lap, as I had not yet breached the 2-minute barrier  :scared:

Tried all I could to get the Abarth faster. Removed toe-in front & rear, and overinflated the tyres, in an attempt to reduce rolling resistance. Not even sure if it's modelled, but had to try something. Later also firmed up the shocks & arb a notch, as it seemed to work better for me. Whether because of this, or simply because of the added practice gained when testing it, I was finally able to do sub-2-minute times, culminating in a 1:59.2.  Thus all set for an exiting race with Bob, so felt a bit like a deflating balloon, when he announced that he wouldn't be able to attend  :(  Next one behind him was 26 points after me, so even with a win (entirely likely, as it was Ziu), I only needed 5 points to keep my 2nd place. Bar a DNF, that should be possible, even on a bad day.

Surprised to be the fastest Abarth on the grid - with Geoffers around, I surely expected him to run with that honour. Equally surprised to find most of the Abarths I had outqualified, practically queuing up to pass me on the run to the first curve. Thus both Geoff & John got past. Btw, even though they quickly regained their positions, it was great fun jumping the Minis ahead at the start  ;D   Latched onto John and managed to get past on the entry to Parabolica. Saw John's car twitch and then he went into the gravel.  Worried of contact between us, but as I didn't feel anything, I continued.  Replay thankfully confirmed that he was a victim of snap oversteer.

Chased after Ziu, who chased after Geoffers over the early laps, while behind me, Clive's Skoda got replaced by Bill's Mini.  Then Ziu lost control exiting Lesmo, slamming into the hedge. As always difficult to predict where his car would end up, and I was lucky to narrowly avoid him.  Continued chasing Geoffers, but not making any inroads. Bill did however, and nothing I could do to prevent him catching and ultimately passing me.   Next event was Kai going off at Parabolica, so I gained a place. Next lap however, it was my turn.  Momentarily lost focus at Parabolica and couldn't make the turn. As I was digging myself out, Kai & Clive came zipping past.  Nothing to do about Kai, but Clive I could reel in again over the following lap, with a bit of slipstreaming.  Side by side towards Parabolica. Did my best 'demon braking' impersonation. Really too late, so car did a coquettish twitch with the rear. Luckily didn't hit Clive, as a nudge would most likely have sent him into the gravel.  Thus regained my 5th, which held to the end.  On the final 3 laps, my car became pure poison on the entry to Parabolica.  Rear lashed out violently on my downshifts. Maybe a result of my missing toe-in, coupled with ever so slight tyre wear ?  Barely kept it under control, and hardly dared downshift on the last lap  :scared:

Grats to the podium, especially Bill

Grats also to Geoffers on the Championship   :notworthy: :notworthy:    Very surprised to be 2nd myself, as I have had so many problems in this series.

Thanks to Tony, Merry Christmas to all.

Cheers,
Erling

Disappointing qually. After getting regular low 1.59s laps in testing I could only do 1.59.6 for 6th on the grid.

So threw caution to the wind at the start, max revs, bang the clutch out & the little Abarth fairly shot off the line. Passed the slow starting Minis, levelled with Erling, had to use a bit of shoulder to avoid the grass on the right (sorry Erling  :whistling:), passed Ziu & I was in the lead  :o. Didn't last long though, Matt & Kai in the Minis were soon through & although I was hoping to get a tow away from the rest I could not stay with them. Ziu was soon on my tail & got ahead down to the Parabolica but I repassed him on the S/F straight before he span out at Lesmo.

Gradually pulled away from Erling who was soon replaced by Bill  :o having a great run in the Mini. Bill gradually started to get closer, then suddenly I was 2nd, Kai had gone off. Bill was still closing until he ran wide at Lesmo & the gap doubled. Kai had recovered & passed Bill & soon was on my tail & passed going towards Parabolica only to catch some grass on the inside & spin out. Mysteriously on the final lap my Abarth slowed!  ::) & Bill was through into a well deserved 2nd place & a great result for the Kerbies  :jumpjoy:

Congrats to Matt on a dominant victory & big cheer for Bill in 2nd.

I think many seasons experience in the GC Mini League helped me in this series, but I've also really enjoyed the Abarth, a car which previously I did not get on with.

Big thanks to Tony for organising all the 2016 series, great job.  :notworthy:

Hope you all have a great Christmas, see you at Suzuka next week & look forward to racing against you all again in 2017.

Thanks Tony for organising this Series as you said the Finale was a great race.  I was lucky to be able to race in a Mini and as Kurt said the combination Bill/Mini can be a factor and I managed to avoid chucking my car into the kitty litter or bouncing off the Armco for a change.

Very pleased with qualifying, new PB and hoped for a fifth in the race in the event I quickly recovered from a poor start and got up to fifth and then much to my surprise I slowly reeled in Erling and managed to pass him and draw away and catch up to Geoff and although I caught up fairly easily I just couldn't pass him and then as he said I went onto the grass and lost momentum. (I turned into the corner a tad too early it my efforts to catch Geoff and hence exited the corner too wide -  result two wheels on the grass.) I felt I'd earned fourth with my hard consistent driving but a final position of second was a nice Christmas Bonus – if only I could drive as consistently as this each week I'd be a happy man.

Thanks folks for your congratulations on my Second Place. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, I'm looking for to Season 17. Hope to see some of you at Tony's  UKGTL's Christmas Special.

I've had a great time in this series. Results have been less than spectacular and I've never failed to cock up a race all on my own and this one was no exception.

Finally broke into the 1:59's during qualifying but still only good enough for 7th on the grid. As usual the start went well and I made up several places off the start and was 4th by the exit of Curve Grand. Lost a place to Kai on the run down to the Parabolica but hoped to get a tow off him down the SF straight. Unfortunately his entry speed into the Parabolica caught me out and snap oversteer taking avoiding action put me into the kitty litter and the armco. Rejoined in 12th and last and gave chase after the pack. Caught Eifelblitz on the run down to the Parabolica and we went in side by side, I hugged the inside but he was able to maintain more speed and drove around me so kept the lead onto the SF straight at the end of Lap 2. I caught and passed him by Curve Grand so was up to 11th and was right with ccstevecc by the exit of Ascari, passed him on the entry to Parabolica but outbraked myself so ran a bit wide allowing him back through on the exit, but I got a better exit overall and caught and passed him down the SF straight so 10th. Set off after Roguk, Had a scary moment when I seemed to hit something exiting the 2nd Lesmo and then Roguk dived left and I found myself closing rapidly on a recovering Ziu. Just about squeezed by on the run down to Ascari. Then was woken up by (According to my replay) a stationary Clive on the run down to the Parabolica, passed straight through him and guess I should put it down to the vagaries of internet weather. Followed Roguk and Tony into the Parabolica, Tony had a moment, Roguk took avoiding action and I didn't... Sorry Roguk, waited for him to recover so was back in 12th (and Last) again by the start of lap 6. Passed Roguk into the Parabolica on the next lap and caught ccstevecc into Ascari so back to 10th.

Into the Parabolica on Lap 8 and a coming together between Tony and Eifielblitz gifted me 2 places so up to 8th, still with Roguk in hot pursuit. Then on Lap 9 Ziu had a moment at the Parabolica and disappeared so I was up to 7th (Back where I started).. Slowly but surely eeked out a lead over Roguk over the next few laps and while it would take nothing short of divine intervention to allow me to catch those in front I was beginning to feel confident I had 7th in the bag.

Then approaching Lesmo 1 on Lap 15 I completely lost control. Still no real idea what went wrong but I ended up hitting the armco and flying through the air. By the time I landed Roguk had arrived and passed me while I got my act back together. This also put the rest of the pursuing pack in close contention behind as well.

By Curve Grand on Lap 17 I was glued to his rear and passed on the run down to Ascari. Lap 18 was spent with us never more than a few feet apart and I ran a little wide into Curve Grand on Lap 19 and he was back through. Hung onto him and got a cleaner exit out of Parabolica and was ahead by the SF line to start the final lap and that was how it stayed until the chequered flag.

Really enjoyed these. Didn't really try the Skoda other than in practice, I just couldn't understand how to set it up and never felt confident enough to actually take it out for a race.

Congrats to Matt for the win and Bill and Geoffers for the other podium spots. And Geoffers for the overall championship and Erling and Bob for the other top spots.

Thanks for all the series Tony. My 1st on-line season in GTL has been a steep learning curve in many respects and the schedule has put me in cars and on tracks I would not normally even consider.

Thanks again.

TTFN
John.

Reading this section reminded me of a weird moment during the race as I exited Ascari somewhere around mid race, which I suspect is linked to what John saw/experienced.
All of the cars ahead vanished, the sound went wonky and I had the distinct feeling that I was heading for a "lost connection" moment and a disco as I headed towards Parabolica. Miraculously, everything righted itself as I braked for the bend and I survived.

Thanks to Tony for organising this and all the other series. I know from my meagre efforts at GPL that running these things is never quite as easy as it looks.
Thanks to everyone for the fun and banter ( in my eyes that is as important as the racing...well almost!).
Wishing all of you the Christmas that you want and a peaceful New Year.
