This race will be a rolling start following a formation lap and the procedure is as follows:

*It will be the pole sitter's responsibility to complete the first lap at a pace that allows the rest of the grid to follow comfortably
*There should be no overtaking or hard accelerating/braking
*Drivers should avoid getting too far behind or too close to the driver in front
*Approximately 20 seconds before crossing the start line the pole sitter should slow down to a speed of no more than 50mph (80km/h)
*Each following driver shall close up directly behind the driver in front also maintaining a speed of no more than 50mph (80km/h)
*The pole sitter should maintain that speed until they cross the start line and then accelerate away to start the race (lap2)
*Each following driver should only accelerate when the driver directly ahead does (they do not have to wait until crossing the start line)
*No overtaking is allowed before crossing the start line at the completion of the formation lap

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see
cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?pid=7) especially the
rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Race Room Racing Experience from Steam, and have the Euro and American Track Packs for this series (And maybe another
non pack track occasionally)
(4) Please exercise caution when pitting as some tracks have a speed limit.

Excessive cutting of corners will seen as cheating and the results may be altered to reflect this.

This is a fun/test event for the cars we shall be running on our first Raceroom Sunday season of 2016 which will start on 17th January.
We already know the GTR3 class and these cars will again be used in 2016 having their own 12 race series and a series of 6 multiclass
events racing alongside the Daytona Prototype. The Aquila is classed as a Sports GT and will have it's own 6 race cup series.

All cars should be able to get by with 1 stop for fuel but tyre wear could also be a factor. The pitstops can be preset in game
but be sure to practice them before the race.

I have chosen these cars because they are both easy and fun to drive but are challenging on the limit. Please give them a go and
let us know what class you will be racing so that we can have a good mix on the grid. I'll keep this post updated.

The second option. So GTR3> Aquila Cup> GTR3> GTR3/Daytona Proto. Meaning we have just one multiclass per month.

good this race looks, very interesting.

we need to make promotion? (advertising?) for this race and for new league races in 2016 that as much as possible driver we become,
this looks very good and with new features like pitstop for fuel and longer races now, i like this.

i hope there will be much drivers for this race (and for this series)

I haven't finalised anything yet mate but Spa has to be a must for anyone. Other than that, the European and American track packs are all you will need. As for cars, drivers could actually compete in all races if they own just one car from GTR3 class, which is by design  :)

I wanted to try the free LMP1 type protos but I thought they might be a bit too challenging for some....maybe next time.

To sum up then for the next series you will need to buy:

At least one car from GTR3 class
The European track pack
The American track pack
Spa Francorchamps
The Daytona Prototype (optional, if you to race this in the GTR3/Proto races)
The Aquila is of course free content

Is this on the store page? If so I just had a look and I think that is the standard header for those cars in store where you do have to purchase any additional liveries. It's the same for the Prototype Series cars which were certainly all free content. Fire up the game and choose the Aquila and you should have the option to drive any car/skin.

 :thumbup1:

Just a reminder for all to post up when they have decided what class they will be racing in. I'm itching to race the Daytona but the Aquila is such a great drive and then there's the RUF........decisions decisions  :-\

As a guide to car choice my times when testing were approx. as follows:

CDP: 2:14
GT3: 2:21
Aquila: 2:29

That's 7 or 8 seconds between classes, which in a 1.5 hour race means lots of cars being lapped. Please remember to be patient when lapping slower cars and do not expect them to jump out of the way. Those in slower classes please be aware of approaching cars but keep to your line and let the car behind make the move.

I must have been doing something wrong as the DP just felt so wrong it was ridiculous! I took a few go's to tray and work out what i need to adjust the steering lock so i wasnt so sensitive, but even then it still felt too twichy and had literally no ffb with it. Aquilla felt alot more alive and going quicker than its speedo tells you!

So first impression would be either GT3 or Aquila, but depending on field size.

I know the CDP is old physics/ffb and could really do with an update to bring it up to standard of GT3s and Aquila. I still find it a good drive though.

Just had a few laps at Laguna and noted my settings were 600/15 which felt ok. FFB isn't as strong in the CDP as GT3s or Aquila but 10 or so clicks increased steering force in the ffb settings sorts it for me. Also tyres need at least 3 laps to start gripping up.

Was thinking of the LMPs or even Radicals instead for this race/series but they just felt too hardcore whereas the CDPs have a bit more old school grunt about them.

Ok so what is the deal with the steering options then as i clearly havent got it. You have both wheel rotation and steering lock settings which is a bit confusing. Do i set the wheel rotation the same as my wheel? Do i run high lock like in GtR2?

I set 900 deg rotation in my logitech profiler (DFGT) and 600 rotation/15 deg steering angle in game for the CDP which is similar to the GT3 cars. It's personal taste and some will say that feels like driving a double decker bus but if you're finding the CDP too twitchy it might help  :-\

Also check the ffb settings out in post #66 (Georg Ortner) especially the Logitech profiler settings  :o Worked for me except I had to turn down the overall ffb in game to around 45%.

Sorry but I'm a little confused, maybe it's the language barrier. So one week it will be only GT3s, then multi Aquila/GT3, then again only GT3 and finally multi DP/GT3? I'd like to take part, but don't know which car(s) to choose...

Edit: Nevermind, just saw the thread in the "anouncements" section. I'll be in the GT3 poRschUF and try to join some Aquila races. DP is not my cup of tea :)

Hi Giannis and welcome to SROUK :)

This is a pre season multiclass test/fun race. In this race you can choose the Aquila, the DP or any GT3 car from the GTR3 class.

For our championship season which starts on 17th January we will race GTR3, then Aquila, then GTR3 again, then multiclass (GTR3/DP) and repeat this rotation for total of 24 weeks as seen here....

Hi guys,

Very interested in joining your league here!
Love GT3s, Love Multi-class, love longer races! It's like you guys have created a league for Andrex :)

Getting very fed up with Project Cars, and picked up RRE after a long absence. It's improved a huge amount, and has managed tempt me into purchasing a load of content. (Missed black friday deal by 2 days :( ).

But would love to drive the Green #1 BMW B6 Alpina with you guys!

I posted on the other forum to join into the last race of season 1, so that would be a nice tester if there is space on Sunday?
Let me know if you'd like to see me drive before then ofc, should be on-line tomorrow night (will be practicing :p ).

Thanks

I think I will be in the chev prototype

Bru, there is a big difference in pace, between the cars, like c1 and chev, 10 seconds

so this will be an interesting race

I like the Aquila too and I reckon the Cup series will prove to be quite popular if my test races are anything to go by.

I'll put you down for an Aquila then for now and let me know if you have a preferred skin. Would be nice to have a varied grid.

Did some testing with the CDP, the fuel system sucks, We have no option on what level to start the race on, so this means start is 100L, but the in the first round of stops you can choose how much to add, 1L to 100L or you can choose to auto add. Normal, safe or risky.

So when I raced the AI start at 100, the car is a dog, only into the race the fuel load got  lighter, the the car comes together. Also in practice same thing, I can only get close to my real pace after running for 30 minutes.

All that said, It would be nice to choose what fuel level you start on, and manage your own strategy.

Anyway, maybe they can fix it in updates to come

Ant  :cowboy:

Post by: goldtop on December 23, 2015, 09:53:37 AM +0000
To be fair, you would usually start an endurance race with a full tank unless you run an alternative strategy.

Fuel isn't properly implemented in game as yet, but it is good enough. You will need to do the maths to work out your strategy but bear in mind the following:

You will always start a session with a full tank
The HUD only displays a maximum of 100L
The CDP fuel tank capacity is around 110L
GTR3 class cars fuel tank capacity is around 120L
Aquila fuel tank capacity is 80L
All cars have different fuel consumption

Everyone should practice pitting and work out strategy as part of basic prep for these races. That's part of the fun  :)

Sometime in future (very likely during this coming season) Raceroom will have a more functional HUD, ability to set fuel at start and to save setups. They are also working on bigger grids to increase from the current 24 maximum which I hope we will need as these events gather interest.

My aim is to make SROUK the place to be for GT/sports car racing. Spread the word if you know other drivers that might be interested. It doesn't matter if they are slow, fast or  :alien: as long as they are clean, fair and respectful.

Don't know GC very well but always thought of them as historic racers and they already run GTL on Thursdays.

I'll pm Ross at Raceconnect about the historic events as they don't race Thursdays and have some Raceroom races planned for Tuesdays already so no clash there. He gave us a plug last time and I think we had some cross over.

hi TT,

i think not possible offline make 90min., 60min. and then 120min. i can only select, so if you will make 90min. test, make 120m. and do stop if 30min. is racetime remaining on clock.

about pitstop, think nobody have exactly information about the fuel settings in this racegame, it is learning time for everybody, i never did test pitstop with fuel ever, i can not remember how pitstops works in this racegame with pre-settings and button mapping and when hit what button, will be for many confusing situation the first pitstops in this racegame for sure.

i do not make this race, and i do focus more on thursday races in season3 here,
perhaps any races i do, probably any GT3 races, but for sure no championship regular.

Just tried running an offline 10min race but popping on the pits every lap to try it out. Still a bit confusing, you can setup the presets but you have to select the presets and confim while driving around. You then have to confirm once in the pits. Pit lane is AI controlled annoyingly. Not sure what the fuel settings of 'risky' and 'normal' mean? and didnt seem to actually fill it up. Still some investigation needed!

Fellas, I plan to start all our Sunday events in 2016 at 20:00 GMT. Are there any objections to also putting back this event as follows?

Practice: 20:00 GMT (30 mins)
Qual 2: 20:30 (15 mins)
Race: 20:45 ~ (90 Mins)

Also there is now a practice server running.

In my testing for this race/series I calculated the approx fuel capacity and usage of the following cars which might help some with their strategies:

Ruf GTR3: fuel usage 1.6 litres per minute, capacity 120/125 litres

Daytona: fuel usage 2 litres per minute, capacity 110 litres

Aquila: fuel usage 1 litre per minute, capacity 80 litres

Oh and....

HNY TO ALL AT SROUK

@GT, with regards to races starting at 8pm. Personally I would prefer the races to start around 8:30 as I have a toddler to force into bed before I can start racing

It was running the race password for ease of setting but I've now changed the server password to the one in the link at the top of this page. Race password will be the usual and will appear at the top of the page 24hrs before race.

@GT, with regards to races starting at 8pm. Personally I would prefer the races to start around 8:30 as I have a toddler to force into bed before I can start racing

A later start means a later finish and with 90 minute races every month that might be too much for some. I don't mind starting later if that's ok with others. How about:

Practice: 20:30 GMT (30 mins)
Qual 2: 21:00 (15 mins)
Race: 21:15 ~ (90 Mins)

Biggest problem with pitting seems to be forgetting to make sure these little boxes on the top right are green  ;). For instance if the fuel box is white, the pitcrew will not add any fuel. If you set them up in the pitstop preset all you should have to do is press your mapped key to request pitstop on your in lap and then confirm as you enter the pitlane.

Hi GT

The race has been pushed back too far me, I am 2 hours ahead of you. I reopen my business on Monday after the holidays so I need to be fresh. So that means a 22:30 start for me. Thats means I will only get to bed 01:00am too late Champ. The main reason why I would have done it was because of the 19:00 start your time. Then I would have got to bed a a reasonable time.

Anyway I understand not all can be pleased, thats why I would give it a skip.

Thanx Ant

Hi All,

GT, maybe we should keep the RACE START time to around 830 to 8:45pm like we normally do for the GTR2/AC/ RRE races? everyone seemed to be ok with that in recent times.

Your calendar has 24 races, only 6 of them are 1.5 hour races, so 3/4 of the races will finish earlier anyway.

looking forward to this RRE set of races, we have not had this level of enthusiasm for a modern GT race series for some time at SROUK. it will be good to do some longer races again as well. I have added the American track pack/Spa and the Daytona prototype to my game so I have everything ready for all three championships now.

just pondering over tomorrow nights race, do I stick with my GT3 maclaren which I have several hours racing experience with or do I take a risk and try one of the prototypes (I will not have much time to practice, so keeping it out of the barriers for 1.5 hours might be tricky!)

Done  :)

Please don't forget everyone, this is a manual rolling start with formation lap.

Read post #1 if you're usure of procedure.

Also for those who plan to join early, I will probably need to restart server at some point after 20:15 to get us all on schedule so just rejoin as normal.

Have fun!

phew, i think 90 minutes might be a little past my limit. I was starting to lose concentration with about 20 minutes to go and the last couple of laps were a bit of a chore. Perhaps with a bigger field it would have been more thrilling and less dull, even though the Aquila is a pleasure to drive.

In terms of tyres and fuel, I pitted at the last possible lap for fuel, more than an hour at full tilt. There was no noticeable tyre wear :(. I selected the "safe" fuel option and the car was spluttering as it crossed the finish line, so I guess the other 2 options would have left me stranded.

The start worked well (once everyone got organised) and adds a lot of tension and atmosphere.

Sorry if any of you in the GT3s or Aquilas were getting berated by Crew Chief, he *still* isn't seeing the car classes properly. I'll sort that out, along with a couple of other issues I noticed

Despite the fatigue, it was a good race :)

Enjoyed that although after Ant's departure I had no-one to actually race. Was good fun chasing down the GT3s and Aquilas which kept me focussed and the CDP was a great drive.

Not sure what happened at the start but I think some of you forgot about the formation lap/rolling start  :wetfish: Still, no worries, that's why we have test races  :)

Thanks to all that attended  :thumbup1: We need to tweak things a little and we need more drivers which I'm sure will happen but in the meantime we need to spread the good word  :)

Matt, I've set the server for Macau with our practice password as some new drivers were getting confused about that. Tony I've restarted the GTL server, but best to check them both as you know what I'm like  ;)

I really enjoyed my first ever proper endurance race. Although the multiclass definetely needs a bigger field of drivers. I entered the qualy at the very last minute, I almost lost the event due to some family issues. Enjoyed the brawl with Eckins till he quit, i hope me or my ping didnt give him any issues again, tried to be extra careful.
At the end of the race, I was thinking that mr belowski should add a special (sweary of course) message in crew chief in case himself laps an opponent :p

I didn't get to try out the CDP until 8pm, so decided to stick with the GT3. I tried a pit stop off line and thought I had it sussed......
I was enjoying the race and looking good for a strong finish, I was holding off doing a pit stop until the tank was nearly empty incase it went wrong.....and it did, I had the fuel set to 'safe' thinking it would top me up with enough fuel to finish the race, but it didn't put any in, I tried pitting the next lap incase I had pressed the wrong button or something, but got the same result then I ran out of fuel a lap later, I will have to try to find some time to figure out how it works.

I have done the results. Added Duck and Andrex and the Daytona prototype, and Aquila to the lists.
I think I will do the traditional practice password, then reset the server with the race password as we do for other sims
That way people will get used to the server resetting at the same time.
I will sort the tyres later if TOny doesn't beat me to it  ::)

Tyres done up to a point. I need Continental to be added to the tyre manufacturer list. Also the Aquila class needs creating or multigroup racing is going to be messy.

I'll have a re-think about the timing for these events although it's hard/impossible to please everyone especially with different time zones.

Regards fuel, I wouldn't bother with the safe/risky/whatever options. I calculated the fuel usage per minute for the CDP and pitted with 1 litre remaining (and my crew chief going nuts at me). I added 80 litres at the pitstop and finished the race with 2 or 3 litres spare

No, no no issues this time. It was good fun with you running in close company. Tbh i dont think i would have lasted so long on my own.

I relised i hadnt worked out the pit menu! So you have to choose the pit preset, which seemed too sensitive and had to wait for it to randomly pick the right one, but also to then select the choices for ttres and fuel with them going green and then hit the confirm button ???

I was a bit sceptial with 3 classes, the length, but it sounded like we had 3 or 4 in each class, shame about the turn out. 90mins is tough to justify though. Didnt the earlier start time work well? Maybe consider reducing the practise?

I think you've got imperial selected somewhere in your settings. For example is your ride height shown in mm or inches in your setup page?

Yeah, the start / formation lap craziness was petty much all my fault. not done a manual start for a very long time, and I had 100% forgotten about it, so just went race mode from the green lights :( Very sorry.

Once the race started, I managed to keep the lead of GT3s, and pull a slight gap to the guy behind me. but I made a mistake and ended up making contact with the barrier after a spin.
I was in a foul mood, and pretty much just rage quit (far from my normal style).
Really should have carried on for the fun of it.

Yet more issues with my GT3 championship in pCars season, makes me want to flee from pCars in it's current state :<

Sorry for the starting confusion!

Grats to class winners, and thanks for hosting the event!
