Why not in the dedicated RRE section?

Possibly because this was created before we had one?

How are cars here, any particular differences / which car is fit to buy / avoid?

Not tried them all TT, but the Audi and MacLaren are easier drives, the others seem more
"challenging" suit you then  :whistling:

http://game.raceroom.com/store/cars/gtr-3

I find the Camaro very easy to drive, until I come to a corner  ::) The rest of the cars are very driveable and have their strengths and weaknesses. The Ford GT is rumoured to be a bit quick but not when I'm driving it. Even so, be prepared for other drivers to ignore you in the paddock bar if you choose it  ;) The RUF is my favourite

I took the Audi for a spin at Zandvoort over at Race2play this evening (although it was the ADAC '14 version so different physics) and it felt like a good race car but struggled to be on pace or maybe that was me.

Khm, was interesting as I was just speaking a bit loud about how GT3s are not in one spot. Your link: ok. tried to go manualy through the path Store/Cars/Classes -> no, in 25 Classes there is no GT3 Class. So where did the link come from?

I need to buy Zandvoort track and one car, which I can try first, yes?

I don't know, there is definitely a second or so more speed in the Ford. I look at some of the laptimes and wonder how these guys achieve them. For me since the update of the physics, the gt3 cars seem to understeer alot. Saturday I got into the ruf GT2 and it was amazing, doing everything I want. I can put any of the gt2 cars where I want it. But any of the gt3 cars, I find them difficult to turn in.

The point is, I think its my wheel, or just the setup changes S3 has made to these cars. But getting back into the GT2 just reaffirmed that I was not going mad with the understeering issues I am facing.

Can anyone confirm if they have experienced the same sort of symptoms? Or is it just me and my crazy wheel.

I am on the verge of buying a CSW vs 2 base and new pedals and rim. Because sometimes I think my g27 sucks on steering imputs

I see some things we need here are included in the ADAC GT Masters 2013 pack: http://game.raceroom.com/store/pack/adac-gt-masters-2013  (http://game.raceroom.com/store/pack/adac-gt-masters-2013)
Hmm, 2014 has more content, but not all that is in 2013 is in 2014.  :-\
Is there another pack to contain most of what we will race here?

Those cars are GT3's but the ADAC series runs slightly different rules, so the car physics are different to reflect that. And, no the GT3's haven't been released as a car pack yet.. we hope its coming.

But you do have a car for races everywhere, do you not? I mean, different physics, but the same car? (I hope so  >:( )

Not sure what you mean TT  ???

To clarify:

We are racing the GTR3 cars and you will need to buy at least 1 of these to take part in this race and next year's GT3 series. There are 10 to choose from....

http://game.raceroom.com/store/cars/gtr-3

You can not buy these GTR3 cars as a pack yet. If you want to buy all the GTR3 cars you must buy them separately.

DO NOT BUY the ADAC '13 or ADAC '14 cars or car packs to race here because they are a totally different class.

Ok. I'll just stick to track and 1 car for this race.
As for understeering - I must agree. I find GT1 Saleen a lot more forgiving to drive than these GT3 cars. Well, need more laps, I guess.

I'm not sure what you are experiencing there Ant. Yes, the GTR3 cars are understeery with default setup but I'm guessing that's the way they are meant to be IRL and that setup is key to getting the best out of them.

The last physics update brought them much closer to the real cars according to RL drivers who were involved in the testing/development. There's a video from a live stream somewhere where 2014 ADAC champion Kelvin Van Der Linde talks about this as he's driving the new build. It's pretty clear that he is happy with the results and that the cars react in a way that is very close to RL.

Same thing goes for some of the limited setup options which were introduced in the last update which now reflect the RL setup options teams would have available to them.

As for the G27 the centre deadzone is a well known limitation on these wheels so maybe this is what you are feeling. My lowly DFGT actually comes out much better in this regard according to data gathered over at the AC forum.

Hey Goldtop

Thanx for the reply.

The real problem I have is that I don't have the confidence in coner exit, its like I don't have the front end. I have tried many different setup options, but the car seems more understeering that when I am on board with other drivers.

For example, the long right hander at Zandvoort just before the end of the first sector. Its like I have to wait forever before I can get on the power in a GT3 car, but in the GT2 I am on the power pretty quickly and have the confidence that the car won't understeer at the end of the corner.

I was in lobby with George ortan. He was pumping, he supposedly use's a G27. His exit from corners are way more aggressive and he has the confidence to pin it out of the corner. I just can seem to get the same confidence without understeering on exit. Please I know his super quick, but I am just trying to figure this out.

I don't really experience such a dead zone issue as others might, but its like my wheel rotation is hampered on certain cars only, GT3 being one of them. I have tried numerous setup preferences and there is very little difference that I find. I used to have a second difference between a GT2 car and a GT3, now its like 5 seconds.

Its just doesn't make sense to me at the moment

Ant

I'm all set now, best lap is somewhere at 1:41:xxx with a Ford GT GT3: http://game.raceroom.com/store/cars/gtr-3/ford/ford-gt-gt3 (http://game.raceroom.com/store/cars/gtr-3/ford/ford-gt-gt3). Gods I hope it's the right car  :D

Where can I see my exact best laptimes on individual tracks?

Do we consider changing track cutting management after the E2H Laguna race? Wouldn't want the game / server settings to ruin close racing here.  :)

Cut penalties stay on for all the Sunday night races. It is the same for everyone and if you go off track it usually means you have made a mistake or have been pushing the limits too far. I'll test every track and if I think any are grossly unfair, I'll review the decision on a race by race basis. We are all good drivers here and we should all be able to stick to track limits.

The alternative is finger pointing/bad feeling. Furthermore I can't see a queue of non racing volunteers lining up to wade through the replays.

Fair enough, do you want drive through or slow down, you may not have experienced the new slow down which is quite different.

Post by: Truetom on December 18, 2015, 10:37:17 AM +0000
Do we have a possibilty to set different penalties for actualy cutting a corner (gaining time) and when you brake too late, leave the track on the outside of the corner which slows you down anyway?
Or is it already set like this? Only tried single races, sorry.  :-\

Title: Re: RRE Season 1 Race Room GT3 - Zandvoort - Dec 20
Post by: phspok on December 18, 2015, 12:58:00 PM +0000
You can set the penalty as slow down, stop and go, or drive through, but not what gets penalised
Tim says the sensitivity of the cut tracks depends on the penalty setting, it is less harsh if you set it
to drive though for example. I need to do some testing to see which suits best. I was a big fan of the
original slow down penalty, but I a big hater of the new one.

Oh cwap, I do hope not. I wasn't aware there were any changes to penalties or track limits in last update (except for the bugs at Monza which were put right in a hotfix). I'll have to do some more testing  ::)

Edit: thought I'd ask the question at the S3S forum.

Giannis Your ping, from what i could see was really high. so much so, you car would only flicker on briefly, most of the time you werent there! I'm also not sure that was the best place to be attempting a pass being quite a quick corner.

By the time i tried to fumble on the crappy chat i was 30sec behind so gave up

Message to all, please make sure your or people on your connection are not downloading stuff at the same time as racing.

I must have had terrible lag, I understood that when I got a little close to Rowe, poor guy got quickly out of the way so i don't hit him. Sorry to Eckins, he got a little sideways in the second-to-last corner and i couldn't avoid him. Next time i hope i have no connection issues....

Edit: I always am the only computer online when I'm racing and I can assure you I wasn't downloading anything. During qualy i turned off my Wifi to try to solve this problem but nothing changed. Again, sorry spanner for ruining your race.

Edit2: Joined a public GT3 server for testing, same problem. Noticed when I am close to someone, when it changes to p2p ping is 0. Weird, but i'll try to solve it.

Lag seems to be very random and affects drivers some weeks and not others but unfortunately it's quite common. Re-joining can help but sometimes that doesn't help.

Anyway some excellent racing this evening and hope the new fellas enjoyed it and will return. Next Sunday is GTR2 night but the week after we have this.....

https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=13511#event4808

And then for 2016 this....

https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=13521.0

We also have historic Raceroom events every Thursday courtesy of phspok as well as a healthy community of AC and GTL.

OK that's quite enough spamming from me for now  ;)

Results posted.

I enjoyed that  ;D
1st GT3 race I've done when I had someone to race at the same pace.

As Giannelis said, I jumped out of his way in T2 to let him by safely, he was a bit quicker, so was no prob for me.
I guess TT is Tomas? so used to racing you as "TrueTom" couldn't find you in the drivers list, so you are "unkown"
I will make you as TrueTom for future events ( as that is the only lobby name you have here)
The rest of the registered drivers I managed to find and update the list ok
Not sure why but it didn't recognise you Postal either. sorted now.
Please could any new drivers who would like to race with us again, please fill in your country in your profile so you get
a nice little flag of your country next to your name in the results. Ta.

There are no R3E Historic races for the next two weeks, but we will start the new E3H Historics series Thursday 7th jan 2016
with DTM92, Gr5, Touring Classics, and BMW M1 Procar events. Please come along if you are free Thursdays for more great
R3E racing, with many of the same people. Good series GT, thanks for putting it together  :thumbup1:

Thanks for the race guys

Looks like those Fords and McLarens are mighty quick!!!
So was aiming for top RUF.
Happy to take 4th, after a rather messy drive. Cant remember the RUF behind me, but probably scared you a few times!!!

Some great respectful driving out there guys!
Thanks again!

Eck, sorry, after cintact I tried to let you position back and seems you didn't want it.  :P And a slippery fox passed us both.

Nice racing, only I miss all the data I'm used to have from GTR2. Didn't have any idea what was happening with the engine, tyres, brakes...

Stay as you are Tomas  :D
It's not a problem if people want to change their driving names, but the results input fails if it sees new names it has not seen before
so I have to update the little database with cross references to who is driving as who. No prob, just makes (my) life
easier if people stick to a name.   The names are for each racegame we run here, so the race import for GTR2
uses a different list. i am building up the R3E list as we get more new people.
Actually I am a little embarrased I didn't spot you in the results...  :whistling: but you are now in as a R3E driver "TrueTom" for
any future R3E events.

The in race info is still poor, but there is some. Top right of your screen is a little info block with engine health which I have never seen
do anything yet.... tyres are in the lower part of the block. anything less than 100% is noticeable, 97% is like - maybe half way down
the XD green/red bars in GTR2, it is not exactly "to scale", I believe if you use manual clutch, it quickly breaks the gearbox, and I suppose
there may be some info in that info block, but I have always used auto clutch in this, so I can't help with that one.  ???

hi TT,

to change your name in this racegame,
 you must load the game,
then comes a screen with 5 things to select, like single player, multiplayer and so on....
click on the last thing, PORTAL (for me in german is name)

then you see in top of screen in right side any things which you can click on...
there is a little picture which looks a little like a "wheel" (is is next to ..go back to game...)
click this and you can select a new name (in german this thing is called   Kontoeinstellung)

if i remember correct, this is only way to change your name in this racegame, very complicated this is and hard to finding.

Thanks Berger.  :)

Matt ... you were too late  :P

Changed the name to Truetom TT as it wants two name fields. Tried single race and I was showed as T.TT - LOL

We'll see what happens next. We can talk of simplifying things after the next race Matt?

No worries, as long as I know, it's quite easy to sort it.
We just make you SROUK name match whatever your in game name is, takes seconds if I know who you are.
Some people have many in game names pointing at their SROUK lobby name.

(Andy Gillone)
Thanks for the race guys

Looks like those Fords and McLarens are mighty quick!!!
So was aiming for top RUF.
Happy to take 4th, after a rather messy drive. Cant remember the RUF behind me, but probably scared you a few times!!!

Some great respectful driving out there guys!
Thanks again!

That was me behind you.....and side by side and even in front for a short time until I messed up  :wetfish:

Nice racing Andy and hope you have some more messy drives  ;)

Right, i must admit these GT3's made for some good racing last night. Looks like the American Iron are the wheels to have. No Godzilla's on track yesterday?
Off the line i noticed flickering cars, so i was hesitant to push hard, but after a couple of turns the rest looked rather solid from connection side. Had a few nice overtakes early on, but then had a big gap to the cars in front. Managed to keep the gap to the pack behind me, but that made for a bit of a lonely race for the second half. Having the Euro Track Pack with the addition of Spa and the Sachsenring it seems i am nearly ready for the GTM series.

Had a fiddle with the ffb settings on my DFGT to get rid of the floaty feeling and constant rumble in the wheel. Looks like lowering the vertical- and horizontal load settings helps this latter issue a bit. I use 100% steering rack forces for now, but still keeps a bit of a unresponsive feeling to it. Maby to up the overall ffb strength again?
I do miss the tyre settings and wear a bit, but it makes setting up chores quite easy for now. Still, this game provides solid racing. I am liking that.

Attention Drivers: There a lot of Nationality flags missing in the results table. Please fill in the driver details part of your respective profiles to fix this. Thank you.

You only need the Euro track pack and Spa for GTM series (and some of the endurance events). Sachsenring is included in the Euro pack.

What an exciting race that was! Narrowly missed out on pole in quali but was nearly able to get in to the lead on the opening lap as myself and Tim ran side by side for most of it. Eventually i had to tuck in behind and settle in to a rhythm.

After a few laps i started to push and closed up little by little to Tim but the Ford was quicker on the straight and he drove really well so opportunities were few and far between. Had a small overlap exiting T1 around half way through the race but couldn't make it stick and after that all i could do was increase the pressure to try to force a mistake. A few laps before the end Tim ran wide at T1 and i was able to move past and hang on for the win.

A great race, very intense and fair. Looking forward to the new season in 2016  8)

yes, it was an excellent race. i didn't think the vette could keep up. good thing james wasn't in a ford  ::) well deserved victory for james  :thumbup1:  just like most close races, i cracked under the pressure :surrender: but it was exciting and it was an exercise in focus.

looking forward to next season too. i'm sure i will learn a lot more from james, joel, reinhard, anthony and other yet-to-be-seen aliens. i know a few that might join considering the quality of the races. but i hesitate to tell them because i want to finish in the top 5 every once in awhile  ;)
