Post by: Cookie on December 14, 2015, 03:07:41 PM +0000
65s Funrace at the new Killarney 1967

New track!!! killar67

Sounds like it should be in Ireland, but is in fact South Africa.
Two important facts, it’s the first time UKGPL will race here and most importantly, the track was created and revised by Francesco Molenti  :thumbup1:

I have downloaded the zip file about 5 times, unzipped with 7z and attempted to install.
"unable to open this file. it does not have a programme associated...bla bla bla...."

Is there a new track installer required?? usually a single click brings up the little GPL box and I direct it to the GPL directory and we are good to go??

Sorry i can't try out this new track...good luck guys

Shame Clive, you missed a good fun race.

I uploaded the unpacked folder to killar67 with the .exe , hope this helps.

My race was very short. Too many mistakes during the first laps.

About new tracks to test during winter, I propose "Roy Hesketh".
We ran there several times with Belgian league LBGPL without any connection trouble.

Another appreciated track is "Ardmore".

My race was OK, but inherited the win because Tris and Roo made some mistakes. Really didn't have the pace, I'm a bit under the weather as well. A rare and lucky win in the T77...

Great track, makes for good racing. Feel for Roo, he was on fire but arguably my slow Cooper caught him out as well...

Good suggestions David, also we will run the new Riverside 66 track in a funrace.

You're right to a point but mainly it was just my right foot ;)
As for my race; it was both a lot of fun & disappointing.

I managed a tied pole position with Tristan & started 2nd (gplra report says I was on pole but I wasn't, can someone change that in the records?), tried to keep out of trouble in the early stages & find some rhythm. Small mistakes kept undoing early gains until Tristan went off track & I gained the lead, narrowly missing Tristan as he spun.

The small mistakes started to become bigger ones towards the end of the race. Maybe my tyres were cooking a little but it was concentration more than anything that let me down. After the first spin let Robert past, I chased him down & caught him near the end of the lap. Unfortunately I was a little too eager with the throttle, nudged Robert's rear which sent me off right & “into“ the pit buildings. I braced for a big stop but drove straight through the wall & exited pit lane!

That let Cookie past. I could have settled for 3rd but I ran wide at one of the hairpins & got caught in a bush, allowing Tristan to overtake me again.

Shame for the mistakes but it was seriously good fun anyway :)

HI :)
good fun race before my mistake where my engine was injuries....then I stop to the pits and do shift-r....so the 3 rd final place is not so bad ;)
"I managed a tied pole position with Tristan & started 2nd "(gplra report says I was on pole but I wasn't, can someone change that in the records?)  ......after looking GPLRA , we got exactly the same time of 1.20.858 but I think I have done this time early in the qualifs, that's why I am in pôle
