I don't think I can do them all, but I will probably do the GTM series. Depending on what day and timeyou run it.

Look forward to having you with us. Race time will probably be 20:00 with usual practice and quali before. The GTM series will be 12 races with the best 10 results counting towards championship so that divers who have to miss a couple f races still have equal chance in champ. The endurance and Aquila cup series will be best 5 results from 6.

Hi GT,

I notice from Season 1's results, that drivers are not locked to a car for the full season, and can change machine per track, is that the case for this season?

Cheers

My understanding is that Drivers choose a car for the full season but can do one free change without penalty. Further changes will incur a 50% points loss. But GT is the Boss so he has the final say.

Tony is correct.

I wasn't sure what to do regards car choice for this coming GT3 season. The main possibilities were:

free choice for all races with no restriction (like last season)
limited car changes (the one I chose)
1 or 2 max drives per car

There are of course other ways and they all have their merits.

In the good old days of GTR2 here I loved the restrictions of choosing one (one change allowed) car to drive per season as it just added to the real life experience a bit. The idea was that cars would have different relative strengths at different tracks which worked well in GTR2. Personally I'm not so sure about these GT3 cars  :-\ For me the Camaro is a dog on any track and a well driven Ford GT will win most races so it doesn't work so well imo.

The GTM season is now set up for one car change with no penalty so we'll keep it that way and see how it works. There is no restriction on the GTR3 car choice for the endurance events so that will allow drivers more freedom to try cars they fancy for a particular race. Seems a fair compromise.

It would be nice to see the quicker drivers steer away from the quickest cars but that gets very subjective.

A championship success ballast could mix things up a bit. There is talk of Raceroom having a ballast system in future which we'll look at when it arrives.

Yeah, I had a look at some of the leaderboard times, and the Ford does seem to be a quick machine.
I didn't want to drive it, as I wanted to know that my pace was me, rather than the car.
I don't expect to be right at the front, and if it's full of fords in front of me, then so be it - I would rather the challenge!

But I'm now torn between the RUF / Alpina
Couldn't get a hold of the RUF in pCars, and it seems to drive more to my style in RRE
pCars doesn't have the B6, and I'm a BM driver irl, so I have a natural allegance to the Barvarian machines (Driving the Z4 in pCars league atm).

Will need to do a bit of testing, but I felt faster in the RUF at Zandvoort, but made a few mistakes.
If the Alpina is a little slower but more consistent for me, that might be my better choice.

But yes, the single swap sounds like a good compromise!
Thanks for clearing that up!!!

Are we using the Adac GTM cars only? Because there are no fords or rufs in that series. Or am I mistaken?

I believe Goldtop has just called the series GT Masters, It doesnt relate to the adac class in game. The cars used will part of the GTR3 class, so you can pick the Ford or Ruf.

Hi, i did ask in another thread about joining one of your seasons, then kinda forgot about it (old age), do i have to register my interest anywhere or can i just drop in on the day and race?
Do you use teamspeak or anything like that?
Do you have servers up 24/7 or just on race day?
Love the idea of longer races, havnt done anything like that since the days of gp4.
Look forward to racing you guys soon, i think :)

Just turn up on the night.

TS is available but not my area of expertise so I'll let someone else answer that one

Praccy server runs all the time except for other series race nights when it is turned off to reduce load on server

There seems to be some confusion about the GT3 cars that we will be racing in the 2016 season. To clarify:

We are not racing the ADAC 2013 cars
We are not racing the ADAC 2014 cars

We are racing the "GTR3" cars:

Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club

I had to google that one  ;)

They are basically the German version of our AA and a huge sponsor of motorsport.

Anyway, no more spamming ADAC because now I know you are winding me up  ;)

Following feedback from our fun/test race I have made some changes to the timings:

Practice: 20:00 GMT (30 mins)
Qual 2: 20:30 (15 mins)
Race: 20:45  (60 Mins)

I have tweaked the GTR3 series to add an element of strategy:

European GT Masters
Cars: "GTR3"
12 x 1 hour races with mandatory pitstop (normal tyre wear, 2 x fuel)

I have also made the following changes to the multiclass events which will mean that the CDP will need to pit twice while the GTR3 cars can manage just one stop (if you look after your tyres ):

International Endurance Series
Cars: "GTR3" "Chevrolet Daytona Prototype"
6 x 1 hour races with mandatory pitstop (2 x tyre wear, 2 x fuel)

The Aquila events remain unchanged as a straightforward sprint race with no stops required.

Aquila Sports Cup
Cars: "Aquila CR1 Cup"
6 x 1 hour (normal tyre wear, normal fuel)

Time to start thinking about our Sunday events for the second half of 2016. Summer can be a bit hit and miss with holidays/attendances so I'm thinking of having a short summer season before we start our next full series of GT/sports events.

We could stick to our GT/sports format (maybe GTR2 or P1 classes for a change) or we could try something different.......maybe single seaters or touring cars or even something whacky like a nords series with different cars each week  :o

What do you think?

Hmm..

Personally i find it hard to leave the GTs alone. But, on the otherhand i would like to try some of the content out we havent used. GT2s would be nice, GT3s on steriods! lol But i also would like to drive the free silhouette cars plus theres even the one make audi TT. Singleseaters would be an interesting try. But i've never got on with FWD.

Lol, not helping sorry. So basically anything else!

..theres even the one make audi TT.

The TT is fwd, its basically a TCR championship car. http://tcr-series.com/

I'd like to give the silhouette cars a try, another touring car option, the DTM, they're rwd.... lol.

Again, I'll drive what I'm told.

Thanks for the suggestions...we'll give the GT2 and free Silhouette classes a go for the summer then. I'll put together 2 series of 5 sprint races to start on Sunday 3rd July which will take us into September. They will be championship races with free car choice for all events with best 4 scores counting.

I'll include some of the tracks Matt intends to use in his historic series and I'll make sure any tracks that aren't included in the Euro and US packs get used in future Sunday series too.

Time to think about next season's Sunday Raceroom events. Personally I think the GT3 cars are the most deserving of our attention as they have such variety and the most recent physics build (and there are more on the way). Not sure about the Silhouettes  :-\ I find them a bit frustrating to race but I know others have enjoyed them. GT2s were good fun.

Would be nice to get back to hour long races with a forced pitstop but open to ideas on everything. Rota might run something like this:

Week 1 GT3
Week 2 GT2
Week 3 GT3
Week 4 Silhouette or P1 or P2 or GT2 or something else?

I'll need to put something together by next week as after that will be my busy time at work so shout up please.

The mixture you suggested below looks good to me GT, I think you should stick with the silhouettes instead of the P1 as they never really seem to be very popular in this league.

That time again folks. I think the current format of 40 minute sprint races and tyres and fuel set to normal works ok so I'd like to keep that for the GT races.

GT3s seem popular and with even more car choice on the way soon, they will always get my vote. Not so sure about the GTR2 class until it receives a physics update  :-\

I'd like to run a bit more variety this time, maybe a P class or a TC or even open wheel???

Above all, I want to keep our current drivers happy and would be nice to attract a few more.

I'll probably run a 6 month season starting in January with maybe a couple of pre season fun races.

Thoughts?

I quite like the GT2/GT3 cars I have, and these series will always be popular. However I'm not a fan of the modern Touring Car "Experiences".

I could be tempted with a single-seater series, but it's the Formula Junior that looks most fun to me (although I haven't tried it). This could be a good fit for the new double race format, with 2 shorter races - with or without reversed grid? Just a thought.

Title: Re: Raceroom Sunday 2016 Schedule

I can do GT3 all year long to be honest. Not really a fan of the GT2's, tricky to to get right.

I think we've done the silhouettes enough. I've never got on with FWD but would be prepared to try them out properly. Never had a decent race in single seaters, too many sticky-out bits. What about DTM? Always love those cars, cross between the aero of a single seater and a touring car.... and use the 2 race, reverse grid??? please!

I liked the previous mix you did with GT3's rotating with GT2's and silhouettes. I am also up for adding single seaters/Prototypes/touring cars. If we tried out WTCC I will try a FWD car as I have never raced one before

Title: Re: Raceroom Sunday 2016 Schedule
Post by: goldtop on November 24, 2016, 09:30:22 AM +0000
Thanks for your thoughts. I can see how pleasing all of the people all of the time has its challenges  ;)

I'm glad the GT3s are popular as they will remain the core of our racing and with new cars coming along soon it can only get better.

Here's what I propose then:

Week 1 GTR3, 40 minute "sprint" races
Week 2 Modern DTM, type and format to be confirmed
Week 3 GTR3, 60 minute "endurance" races with mandatory pitstop (details to be confirmed)
Week 4 Formula Junior, 2 x 20 minute races (details to be confirmed)

I'll hold a test event in January for the Formula Junior to check how collisions are handled and to see how smoothly the 2nd race reverse grid works.

What about DTM? Always love those cars, cross between the aero of a single seater and a touring car.... and use the 2 race, reverse grid??? please!

I know nothing about DTM. Any chance you could have a look at the most suitable race format and car set we can run and let me know please?

Any chance we could have this finalised over the weekend? I would probably have given the DTM races a miss, but with the current Black Friday sale (and being the cheapskate that I am..) I might pick up a single DTM car if I know which one to get. And a single Formula Junior car is only 15 vrp atm.

Sale ends Monday.

Was thinking exactly the same thing here. I would guess the DTM 2016 car set would be the most obvious choice to run as it has the latest physics but I was more concerned about what format the events should take. I'll pm Spanner in case he's not picked up these posts.

This is reminding me why I hate RRE's pricing model. So I can buy the DTM 2016 cars as a block or as individual skins. The skins appear to be 15 vrp each yet once added to the basket they are either 175 or 200 vrp.

Why is it cheaper to buy DTM Experince than DTM 2016? Doesn't the 1st include the 2nd?

Where does one find this Formula Junior?

Sorry can't be bothered.

You give up so easily Pete, come on??

There structure hasnt changed, you buy the individual car plus the skins. You can also buy the series packs. Its blackfriday, their pricing isnt going ot make sense!

Probably becuase it recognises you dont have the car!!!

Yes from what i understand the 2016 cars are  bit more userfriendly than the previous ones to drive so was goingto suggest those.

Title: Re: Raceroom Sunday Schedule
Post by: goldtop on November 26, 2016, 10:32:55 AM +0000
Thanks.

Just to be clear then, we will run the following for 6 months commencing January.

Week 1 GTR3, 40 minute "sprint" races.
Week 2 DTM 2016, 40 minute race with no pitstop (as in the RL "Saturday" races http://www.dtm.com/en/regulations/sporting-regulations).
Week 3 GTR3, 60 minute "endurance" races with mandatory pitstop (tyre/fuel settings to be confirmed).
Week 4 Formula Junior, 2 x 20 minute races, reverse grid for race 2 taken from results of race 1.

These will be run as separate championships.

Those wishing to take part might want to take advantage of the current 50% off sale which runs until Monday to purchase the cars needed. I find the best way to do this is to start the game and select "Store" from the main menu. That way you will be sure of seeing which particular prices apply to your account and you can work out how much VRP you will need.

I'll schedule a couple of pre-season non championship races for us to get familiar with the DRS in the DTM cars and the reverse grid in the Formula Junior (which now seems to be working correctly in game).

Red Bull Ring
Lausitzring
Zandvoort
Moscow Raceway
Nürburgring
Hungaroring
Hockenheim
Shanghai
Spa
Monza
Suzuka
Bathurst
Paul Ricard
Salzburgring
Zolder

Note: I also plan to include Silverstone when it is released.

DTM are double header events but they consist of a 40 minute sprint race on Saturday and a 60 minute race on Sunday with an enforced pitstop. I've tested for a 40 minute sprint race and the tyre wear rate seems perfect for this which will add another dimension to the racing.

Short double header races with reverse grids might be ok for Formula Junior but in quicker cars I foresee T1 problems especially as I intend to make these standing starts.

Got them all. I hope I can invest more time, Spanner. Frankly, it's all about priorities with tanks and warships getting a bit lower now  ;)

Hi GT

Would like to join but just time depending

Hi Ant, good to hear from you.

All our DTM races are Sundays. The "Saturday night" part just refers to the real life series on which our Sunday series will be loosely based. Hope to see you soon.

I'm going to be standing down from organizing our Sunday evening Raceroom events at the end of this season (end of June). I just don't have the time and commitment for it these days and I think a new person with a fresh approach will be best for all.

I'd like to thank Tony, Matt, Dave and Pete for all the assistance they've given me over this time.....I literally wouldn't have been able to do it without your help and support  :thumbup1: Thanks also to all those who have supported the races....it's been great fun and I hope to join you again when time allows.

Obviously sad to hear this GT but a huge hats off to you for the time and effort you've put in to organising these, many thanks . Hope there is some one brave enough to take over!

shame to hear that GT, have enjoyed my Sunday night Raceroom sessions. What is involved in organising the races. Do you need much IT knowledge or special equipment?

If you want to run the series Stephen you will not be left to sort it yourself
Tony is a master at creating series, I have been doing the results input for Sundays as well as Thursdays
since Tudor took over, so am happy to continue. If you come up with a series of car/track combos
one of us will create the pages, I will if no one else has the time.
I don't want to do the whole deal as well as Thursdays, but I will assist for a while at least.
Perhaps if you enjoy it, you can learn the admin and do the whole thing, but you would not be
expected to do everything to start with.

I do not have much spare time due to two young kids but I would be interested in trying. I have got a few ideas for series. I will pm you with some ideas and questions about what is involved.
