Title: UKGPL Specials - Riverside - Dec 22
Post by: Robert Fleurke on December 21, 2015, 03:32:58 PM +0000
66 Funrace at the new Riverside 1966

Just another funrace to try out the new fantastic Riverside 1966 (http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=11142) track by Ginetto.

The Riverside track in  California was in operation from September 22, 1957, to July 2, 1989. The original course design proved to be dangerous, and it was partially reconfigured in 1969. The track was built to accommodate several different configurations, depending on the type of car and race length. The three options on Riverside Raceway were the long course, the short course and a NASCAR course. When the track was redesigned in 1969, Turn 9 was reconfigured with a wider radius and a dogleg approach added to reduce strain on the cars' brakes.

This 1966 version has the original Turn 9 and no dogleg in the backstraight.

Free choice of car.

This will be fun. Though I'm not sure about my car. Might be something midway between 2 and 3 liters.

I think it is free.

Made several laps yesterday with Axel, Tom and Gareth. Very nice track.

Incredible hard race. Made many mistakes throughout the race, car was a handful despite 2.5L Braby. Still had some fun with Andreas who was incredibly hard to pass.  :P

Didn't want to get lapped, but blew up late race, had to do a 2nd reset, and was lapped  :o

Now I understand why Historics have splitted 2L and 3L races. It's real hard to stay disciplined behind a 3L car in the curvy parts, in a 2L car. Thanks all for racing and grats to Tris, and well done Axel and David.

Sorry to David and Fran for interfering their race with my spin in the last turn... ;)

Sorry for my "unconventional" lines early on, cold tires on a sketchy setup.  :-\

Great pace from Dave R., staying with me in the Coop.

Bad fps loss in the race...Especially in T8. I decided to quit rather than struggle for the whole race.

The smaller Eagle was funny. Erhm.. I've never driven it since its release date :) It has a super sound but lacks power in the straights.

Grats Tristan and podium!

hi :)
well I take  the pole in my last lap ....was very close and I was especting a close race....( I think everybody drive a 3 liters .....but no ! )....but the battle turn short after lap 1,( ? ).....and then I do some small mistakes and have some fight whith Axel....the third part of the race was more easy as Axel lost the contact and then I just try to stay focus and try to do a best lap.....
....nice track  specialy the " S ", where you need a brave hart ....
Have all a merry christmas and happy new year if I don't see you before  ;D

Logan could you send me your Ferrari set-up?
I have not understood in wich way you and the other are so fast in the first parte of the track.

Fran,

if you have GPL Replay Analyzer you can compare your laps to Dean's. You can merge best laps and see where Dean gains etc...also watching graphs etc.

This method I use(d) to use to find out where I lose time compared to faster drivers, and trying to improve my laptimes...

Already done Robert, and i lose in the first part into the S.Also compared with you.I asked the set-up to Dean becouse he have used Ferrari like me.I want to understand if some set-up can help or is only skill that i can not understand where to find it.My car,in some curve, have no grip.

It makes sense to compare only same cars. The 2L cars are handling better in general, in the curvy parts...

Maybe your problem is also not getting enough heat in the tires, therefore lacking grip!? That first part you need to be very aggressive steering in keeping as much momentum as possible, hitting the inside apex'.

Good luck.
