Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: As for Season 15, cuts will be turned off for this race.

One of the tracks where I'm unable to complete one single lap without crashing even in a slower touring car, but a real funny one. :)

Forgot to mention: due to national holiday on Monday here and thereby an extended weekend I will only return Monday evening - so no further practicing for me.
But I'll give it a try for sure.

I'm  taking the Jag here. Plenty of corners. Cobbled sections. What can possibly go wrong?

I'll  try to keep out of everyon's way.

Tony, last year we disabled the cut track warnings, as they were quite aggressive, and there's little potential, if any to save time by cutting.  Might be a good idea to do so too this year  8)

Cheers,
Erling

Chances of making this race have improved ...........chances of being competitive and maybe even finishing have not!!!  :hang:( unless I find/make time for some serious practice before Monday night and that is unlikely   :-\ )

The practice server was running without the 2x Fuel factor.

This has now been rectified.

:taz: :taz: :taz: :taz: :taz: :taz: :taz: :taz: :taz:

Finally get a car and setup that feels good around this track in the qualifying period, after about an hour of tweaking. Just a chance that I can prevent Erling from having it too easy, and after fluffing the start I have to pass John's D type quickly to get after that Coyote. Make the pass and focus on making that distant DB2 come closer!!
After 1 lap I think I have closed slightly, although Erling might be playing safe he is not far enough ahead to relax and I am gaining confidence in this 300 SLR and the setup.

Then ..................... I lose connection with the server :(. I can live with making a mistake and stuffing it into the scenery, but it find it very frustrating when technology robs me of some good fun.

The strange thing is that I lost connection yesterday when I tested that I had the right car/track combination, and again in the practice session before the race tonight??! and from memory it was at a similar position on the lap.......???
Grats to all those who finish, and of course to the podium

Chose the Merc for this one but it slow and heavy and not suited to this kind of track. Did five error free laps and then pitted perfectly. Then on the next lap I made an error after the S/F line and had a big crash which resulted in my car ending up on the wrong side of the fence on the left hand side of the track. Could not find a way back on track so had to quit out.

Looks like Erling is the champion but the fight for the remaining podium steps looks interesting. Roll on the finale at Spa.

Strange that you found the Merc heavy and slow, Tony, because I found it very fast and very stable once I had sorted the diff etc.

The one big problem that I did have was the gear ratios. I could not find a final drive option that gave me a gear somewhere between 3rd and 4th, which I needed through the 2 long right hand curves early in the lap. I reckon that with a magic wand to give me that extra gear I could gain an easy 4-5 secs a lap
Once I had negotiated the esses ( T1 & T2) in 4th I was flat in 5th down the hill and through those sweeping curves and the car just felt great. It was the same at the end of the lap where there is that series of fast right / left corners which I could attack in 4th before dropping into 5th for that run to the line.
I guess it shows that everyone is different and that is what makes sim racing so addictive  ;)

I was a little bit confused as I saw Bill cruising around in a 300SL Gullwing (Butch's mod, which I have installed in my online version of GTL too) and not in a 300 SLR  ???.
Result say he drove #101 300 SLR so I assume all is correct and it has only been an issue between the two mods on my computer.

Six laps without big faults. After my pit stop I crashed out in one single moment of lacking in concentration.

Results to be posted tonight.

Butch's Merc is not installed on the server! So Bill could not have been driving it.

There's a small difference between place 7 and 8 - but that doesn't matter.  ;)

Very fond of this track  :)

Aston worked well here last season, so seemed a safe, if somewhat unimaginative choice.  Firming up my very soft setup from last year allowed me to knock a few secs off my pb from last year.  Shaved a few tenths more off in qual so well chuffed with that.

Very surprised to almost immediately have a small gap to the rest of the pack, when the start went.  Fully expected Clive to jump me, as he mostly does when we're close on the grid.  He seemed to have dosed off however judging from the replay.

Ran wide onto the grass both entering and exiting Rudingshain village on L1, which may account for Clive's notion that he was gaining on me. Heart sank when I saw the message that he had left, early on L2. Based on qual-times, he seemed my best hope for a close race.

Could do 6 laps on a tankfull, so had a fairly narrow pit window from end of L4 to end of L6. No particular reason to pit early, so went in after L5, so that I still had enough fuel for another lap, should I somehow miss or overshoot. Fuel only, and as I was exiting, 3 cars came roaring by, dropping me to 4th.  Caught and passed Roger, and a little later John, recovering after a moment between the trees.  Caught and passed Matt the following lap, as he was recovering from a spin.  Did wonder if those Ferraris ever had to stop, as the gap was still only around 20 secs at lap 8.

Thus most of the race was a lonely affair.  Had to find a balance between going fast enough to keep it exiting, but not so fast that I risked throwing it all away.

Grats to Roger & Matt for the other podiums, and commiserations to those that met with misfortune; especially Clive  :(

Cheers,
Erling

Sorry for the late report, Had a lot going on at work.

Was torn between the Merc and the Jag leading up to this, I felt the Merc should have been the faster choice but I surprisingly (To me) couldn't match my Jag times consistently frequently not able to find a gear I liked for some sections  so elected to chance the Jag even though it didn't really seem like the best choice. Having not managed to break the 6 minute barrier at all leading up to the race I was really chuffed to post a time of 5:58 in Q even if it was only the best of the rest with next up the grid being a full 10 seconds faster.

Got a great start and mugged Clive off the line so found myself behind Erling in his Aston. The Jag was no match though once some corners were thrown in the mix and clive soon made amends for his disastrous start and steamed past and set off in pursuit of Erling's Aston. Then onto Lap 2 and I suddenly found myself back in 2nd?? A quick look at the driver list and no Clive. :( Matt in his 375 soon begins to make a nuisance of himself and easily gets passed somewhere on Lap 2 and I now have another 375 in my mirrors with Roguk at the wheel. Had a great tussle over the next 3 laps or so being able to extend the lead in some sections only to find him back up my a$$ in others. This went on until around Lap 6 when my tyres seemed to fall off a cliff and I touched the grass with one of the rears in the long right hander causing me to spin several times, somehow missing all the solid shrubbery and rejoining behind Roguk and Bill who had recovered a lap during my sightseeing expedition.

Ok, I need to pit now. followed Rokuk into the pits feeling  happy that I could make his life a misery on fresh tyres. Then it all went horribly wrong. (I really must practice my pit stops). To paraphrase the great Eric Morcambe I hit all the right keys but not necessarily in the right order. The result was I got a full tank of gas and after entering the pits 1 second behind Roguk and 20 seconds ahead of Bob I finally left 25 seconds behind Roguk and only 2 seconds ahead of Bob. From this point onwards any aspirations I still had for a podium went completely out of the window and I simply drive as fast as I dared. The times ahead to Roguk and Matt came down ever so slightly and I would have loved to have been part of their battle as I felt I did have the speed  had I had someone to chase. Unfortunately it wasn't to be and I bought the Jag home a distant 4th. Was pleased to knock another 2 seconds off my qualifying time during the race though.

Thanks all, congrats to the Podium and all finishers.

It was a blast as always.

TTFN
John.
