This race will be a rolling start following a formation lap and the procedure is as follows:

*It will be the pole sitter's responsibility to complete the first lap at a pace that allows the rest of the grid to follow comfortably
*There should be no overtaking or hard accelerating/braking
*Drivers should avoid getting too far behind or too close to the driver in front
*Approximately 20 seconds before crossing the start line the pole sitter should slow down to a speed of no more than 50mph (80km/h)
*Each following driver shall close up directly behind the driver in front also maintaining a speed of no more than 50mph (80km/h)
*The pole sitter should maintain that speed until they cross the start line and then accelerate away to start the race (lap2)
*Each following driver should only accelerate when the driver directly ahead does (they do not have to wait until crossing the start line)
*No overtaking is allowed before crossing the start line at the completion of the formation lap

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see
cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?pid=7) especially the
rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Race Room Racing Experience from Steam, and have the Euro and American Track Packs for this series (And maybe another non pack track occasionally)
(4) Please exercise caution when pitting as some tracks have a speed limit.

(5) Please follow the SROUK guidelines for using kerbs etc. Please keep 2 wheels on the track surface (kerbs do not count as track surface)
Excessive cutting of corners will seen as cheating and the results may be altered to reflect this.

Any ideas how to practice with fuel and tyre multipliers?

Fuel usage for Ruf is approx. 1.6 litres per minute (therefore 3.2 litres with x2 setting). Fuel tank capacity is approx. 120 litres (but HUD currently only goes up to 100 litres.....will be updated very soon I believe).

First of all, don't bother with the safe/risky etc fuel settings, where's the fun in that? Set up a 60 minute single player race in your chosen car and note the time remaining when the fuel starts to drop down from 100 litres in the HUD. Then run for another 30 minutes and see how much fuel has been used. Multiply the number of litres used in 30 minutes by 4 and that should give you the total amount needed to complete a 60 minute race (with x2 fuel). You can then calculate how much fuel you'll need to put in at the stop.

Tyres are normal usage for this GTR3 series but you can use these races to learn tyre strategy if you're planning to run GTR3 class in the multiclass races where tyres and fuel will be x2.

i'm looking forward to this race and i like your settings. should make for some interesting strategy. if you guys want to practice, i have set up a server with these settings...

Hockenheim
practice 10 min
qualify 15 min
race 30 min

fuel usage: X4
tyre wear: X2
mech damage: off
cut rules: off
mand pitstops: on

let me know if you want me to change mech damage or cut rules. i hope you don't mind that i used the name "SIMRACING.ORG.UK GT3"
i thought i read somewhere that the ford won't be allowed, but i see above that it says... Any car from "GTR3" Class. will the fords be allowed? if not, i will remove them from the server.

Thanks for that Tim  8) The only thing I'd say is maybe change the server name to simracing.co.timbo or something to differentiate from our practice server which will be up after Thursday's historic series race.

All "GTR3" cars including the Ford GT are allowed but I'd just urge the quicker drivers to consider a more challenging car choice. We certainly don't want a grid full of them that's for sure!

Not sure if I'll make the ESR race this evening as it's another drummer audition but I might join if I'm back in time and still have the will to live.

I'll change the name to "simracing.fuel x4" since there is no indication in the list of servers of fuel usage.

But its not expensive at all really, nothing like iR. I dont see it as any different to buying DLC. I think your only talking a couple of quid for a car if bought on its own.

I think GT has posted somewhere what you would need. But to cover most, you would need A GTR3 class car and prob the US and Euro track packs. I still not sure of the exact price TBH. You can buy vrp at a discount from a different shop to that of the raceroom shop for content, so that will save a bit. But i think 2000vrp is 20Euro and cars can be upto 500, so 5Euro.

if you want to commit, the best way to buy is what spanner said. buy vrp here... https://www.raceroomstore.com/shop_en/list_page?cat=24 5000 vRp would get you a lot. you could get european track pack, american track pack, spa, dtm92 car pack, touring classics car pack, group 5 car pack, m1 procar pack, chevy daytona prototype pack, and a gt3 car. aquila cars are free. that would let you race in the int. endurance series, the historic series, the european gt masters series, and the aquila sport cup series. you could save some money by buying just 1 car from a pack, but not much. especially now that there is a new year sale unitl jan 18. ( https://forum.sector3studios.com/index.php?threads/new-year-sale.3937/ ). you would still need the track packs. just the tracks without any cars would cost over 2000 vrps.

Was on the test server yesterday after the gearbox of the Dekon Monza went bang. Did a race with to other lads and his Ford GT was blisteringly fast again. I know i am not a very fast driver, but i sure hope this series isn't turning into a Ford GT cup.. Will stick with the Ruf for now, it is kind of nice  :)

Wanted to practice, but also could not find it, there is no way to set the offline fuel consumption X2

I will just go risky on fuel if I race this one

How come the practice server is on Spa?

Fixed now and running with our practice password. Server will be stopped and restarted with our usual race password at 20:00 GMT.

I've been out of action all week with very limited mobility but hope to join even if I tootle round at the back and have to retire early  :(

How do you do pitstops? I have done a preset, I do "P" for pit request, I go into the pits, and it sits there waiting for me to confirm the settings
but it won't let me select that tab, I can scroll up and down to everything except confirm>>

From what i remember you need to confirm the fuel? it goes green when you have confirmed it. Then the overall confirm becomes available.

Server now running with race password.....gla  :)

BTW I've not set mandatory pitstop in server settings as it limits the window in which you are able to pit. You will need to pit for at least fuel anyway so it's just one less thing to go wrong.

Also, please remember..

MANUAL FORMATION LAP WITH ROLLING START

Was enjoying that, but as usual pit stops ruined a pottentially good race for me.
Went in twice but they would not put any fuel in, just kept changing tyres. I had a pit stop preset with safe fuel, and then changed it to normal on
2nd stop , but nope, no fuel. I assume others got fuel.

Pit stop ruined what was a pants race for me anyway. Took me ages to spot the very obvious (not) highlight around what ever box was active and then I couldn't work out how to not change tyres. Well I must have, sort of, as they changed the fronts and not the backs. As the car was already very tail happy having a huge 2% difference in tyre wear between front and back made everything even worse.

Wasn't really enjoying it anyway. What changes between qual and race, I couldn't get with a second of my qual time and it wasn't like the qual time was a fluke as I did 3 laps all with in a 10th of each other. In the race too it seemed somewhat random if the car would slow down for a couple of the corners (only those turning left!) The random brake nature reminded me of GTL where I couldn't ever work out what was about to occur. Funny though as I had none of those problems with the Group 5 cars on Thursday.

Should have taken Shark's offer of racing AC elsewhere.......

Yeah pit stops were a problem for me as well, preset for 20 gallons only puts in 20 liters ......had to drive it like i stole the thing and pitted 4 times!!!
had to guess the pit menu as it doesn't highlight as well ... still good race love this track well done Ant on the win!

Hey, I want to apologize for causing a collision when I was overtaken. Pretty bad behaviour by me, I'm feeling terrible! Hope I didn't ruin your race (I don't know who was the 'victim', driving the blue ruf). Made a voluntary drive through. As I could not find this option in the menu, I just drove in and canceled the pit. Hope that's correct this way, but of course I'd take any responsibility if there is some kind of punishment. I thin this drive through just took something around 10 seconds, what seems to be not so much.

Eventful race  ::)

Start was a mess! At least 3 drivers forgot about the rolling/formation lap which meant that by the time we were racing most of the field were half a lap down  ::)

When we got going it was a very exciting race with Ant until he made a mistake and I sneaked by only to get myself caught up with a back marker and I clattered into the wall. Lost engine power and had to limp around for the last 15 minutes frantically trying to keep ahead of those who were now reeling me in.

Any volunteers to moderate this one and dish out some penalties for the jump starters?

Sorry for the start guys, totally forgot, but i remembered it was a rolling start and gave the spot back to anthony in the parade lap.
Is smt wrong with the fuel consumption? I used 75 liters in 27 minutes, put 50 liters in the pit stop so had 85 with 33 minutes to go. Around 5 minutes till the end had to make another pit because i had only 2 liters left.... Morris i guess was also saving fuel towards the end, hence i caught up.

Edit:Just saw it was engine problems for gt,not fuel.

WOW...

GT and I had a ding dong battle in the beginning :fencing:, then I had a half spin, so I decided to pit, I came out like 10th, then I was pushing as hard as possible, but 17min from the end I hit a bump under braking and the gear jumped back (so much for down shift protection) my Engine light came on, the I backed off hoping just to get to the end, but to my surprise GT made a mistake and then I guess had a technical issues as well, I just paced myself in the 1:42.5's John was a day ahead of me, so I was hoping just to keep 2nd.. To my surprise I found John only 15 sec ahead, then behind me.. I then realized I only have 13 liters left in my tank, i was just trying to finish, I did and with the win with only 1 liter to spare..

Really didn't expect to win this one, not one of my favorite tracks.. Oh well.. Well done all..

Ant

In fairness it is up to the driver making the pass to do so safely even if they are lapping. I thought I'd left you enough room on the outside but I really can't blame you for that.

Sry, you totally left enough space, I just didn't realize that you're already on my side and tried to switch to the right side of track to allow you to pass me. That wasn't one of my smartest moments  :-[

Eeeks. that was a bit of a crazy race. I did notice some big red letters in the OP, just forgot all about em the last days. Then sitting on the grid cars where reving like mad and on green a saw cars in front shooting away. Thought nothing off it and set about to race too. Just after finishing and logging onto this tread i noticed the rolling start again. Pretty embarrassing. Please scrap my results then. (not title material anyway  ::)))
Did feel like a proper race to me anyway, good length, pit stops and with a nice climax in the last minutes with GT and Giannes. Thanks that was enjoyable. Cheers.

Somebody's inability to run a pace lap at a proper speed pretty much ruined any real enthusiasm i had as people were so widely spaced it consigned it to running alone. Interesting how the tye grip changes once the tyes get to 98%! I just seem to struggle on this tyre model to be confident around the limit so never really got ontop of it till the middle of the race.

Guilty as charged over the start completely forgot going towards the second corner when i realised what had happened, felt like a right tit which in itself was enough but i slowed down to let positions back and the next thing you know we are spread all over the place, my own embarrasment over the start made me feel bad and i just couldnt get into it at all, i quit all embarrased and frustrated.
Should make the password rolling start, cant forget that.

Apologies again.
