Will be my first major test on my new system. Right now have a ASUS Sabertooth P67 mobo with Intel i5-2500K processor, 12GB DDR3-1600, 500GB SATA HDD etc. Only swapped the ATI HD4850 videocard from my previous ASUS P5K system (nevertheless tore the new system apart and built it up from cratch). Running under Windows 7 Home Premium now.

Got rid of my GPL sound problems, and all other GPL related probs like GEM errors etc. Have to use D3D now, while I did use OGL under Win XP with same videocard. Weird. MSSWFF wheel works perfect as well. Happy man though now :)

PS: might be able to built a GPL server now as well...but is not a priority for me right now...

Phew  ;)

Good PC now, with a little outdated GPU ;D
You should use the CCC 13.9 for it, but I don't understand why OGL should not work ::)

My onboard HD 4250 works with 13.9 and OGL very good... (I have a little oc to 700MHz ;)

Yes, right now browsing for a good secondhanded videocard, and a monitor, with a more modern 2GB videocard and >20" widescreen monitor things will be great, also for other games....

I'm currently using CCC 13.1 (win 7 64bit), only get max 30fps with OGL, no matter prib enabled/disabled or detail levels....same card at win XP needed OGL. Shame, OGL looks nicer in detail tha D3D, but no biggie... ;)

for my onboard I had to switch vsync off and run the CPU in full speed at Bathurst, only some little stutters in the "corcscrew" aera :)
Remember intel speedstep off in GEM!

Found a Sapphire HD6950 2GB 256bit  for 60€ on hardwareluxx marketplace...

Thanks Axel, I have vsync on otherwise I get some tearing/distortion I think, but I'll try again. Maybe will oc current vidcard a bit.

Currently bidding on a LG 22" monitor (29€, hope to stay within 45€). We'll see about the videocard, not sure yet, need to do more research...it has to be a good step up to run full HD (1080p), but finances are rather low. Finally looking for a new HDD, seems to be the bottleneck now. It brings my system rating down from 7.3 to 5.7.

Neverheless happy, only prib seems to be a fps hog (at spa67 full grid AI) with D3D. Without prib (or upper info prib) solid 60fps all around spa67 with full grid and most details...

Alone at Bathurst everything's perfect. Otherwise I would need to toggle prib settings (F4-F8) if I get fps drops ;)

"HDD, seems to be the bottleneck now. It brings my system rating down from 7.3 to 5.7."
Don't bother about that! With 12GB RAM you will never use the HDD in a game, only loading 69x...
Get a small 60 or 120 GB SSD for the system when you are liquid ;)

For oc the GPU get GPU-z + RBE128 + winflash from techpowerup to modify the bios ;) I use this a lot to optimize ATI GPU's.

That was a quick one.

The computer worked well. :) The driver didn't. I'm far from fooling myself into thinking I can actually drive these cars yet. At least I managed to limit most of the damage to myself.

Sorry Jani for getting in the way. An instant before you hit me, I realized I was in the wrong gear. The car wouldn't accelerate. I hope it didn't damage your car.

It was not Doni, it was me Dean.

As we went over the corkscrew I got it absolutely right ( for the first time in the race!) and I think you went a little sideways. Not your fault, I was too close when you lost momentum and GPL did the rest.

Doni was behind both of us and just got caught up in the melee.

Apologies for ending both of your races.

 :(

Yes, sorry for the punt going up the hill, Dean.  I may have been taken by surprise by your seeming lack of speed for the tight leftie.  And there may have been some lag involved.  My viewing of the incident certainly indicates not everything was as it should have been.  As for the punt going down the hill, well...  Hardly anything I could have done to avoid that.  It put me out, too, you know.

In all this, I faced a handicap.  Pre-race warmup went fine.  Qualifying on the server was OK despite a grossly poor performance some 2s off my PB.  On going to the grid, I find that I've got that goofy helmet mip staring me in the face instead of a proper steering wheel.  Shoulda stayed in bed.

Disappointing race after a promising start...made a mistake myself dropping behind Roo and Clive, then few laps later the corkscrew was blocked. Got caught up in the melee, nowhere to go, and had both engine and suspension dmg. From then on slow lap times and many offs and mistakes. Got lucky to score some points picking up place before the engine exploded in the penultimate lap...

On a positive note, GPL runs great at my new system with W7...

Grats Tim, and Team Groundhog :)

Well I had a somewhat bad feeling during the race, as if I forgot something about cars or resets. And there it is! I should have driven the BRM... I suppose that means a DQ for me. Sorry guys...

Otherwise it was a great event for me. Another long time favourite track with lots of racing memories. This time a handy and quick car (well, well...), and -- after doing some serious trainings this weekend -- with a lot of self-confidence. Still I didn't expect any suprise in practice, but I hoped in a good finish. And then we were in lap 2, up on the hill and all over the road.. I just couldn't sneak past that red car on the left, got stuck and had to wait and let others to pass by... Then in the same lap, just exiting to the backstraight another contact. I was not sure if that was my fault, so I waited in 2nd gear for a few hundred meters. Then I started to eat the gap, and was lucky enough to gain positions by others' mistakes. Except for Dave, whom I had to pass in real racing. Great gentleman driving, thanks Dave!

Grats Tim on victory! Well done Roo! Great results for our team -- except my car choice, erhm... :D

Anyway, thanks all for the race!

Gutted for Tristan - That was a fantastic race trying to hang on to him while my setup 'warmed up'.
Then when it did on around lap 8 and I started making gains his engine went bang just before Skyline on lap 10  :(

It was only a lap or 2 after this I noticed my fuel levels and decided that I needed to slow it down a bit. All my fuel calcs had been done offline and so couldn't account for the extra speed/revs down Conrod and up the hill. I finally decided to open the taps again for the last lap only to make a mistake and only do a 2:08 - I'd done a 2:07 while chasing down Tristan although I'm not sure how much that was helped by draft without seeing the replay.

Congrats to the remaining finishers and a mention to Robert who fought his way all the way with a damaged car - I should note that despite the damage he was only lapped because (I guess) he didn't see the point in another 5 miles of fighting when he only had to wait 40-50 seconds for me to finish

(Edit - Or his engine exploded now I see the post above  :ninja: )

Sorry for the melee I produced when overbraking into the corkscrew section in lap 2
Standing with the nose to the inside I could not get out of the way immediately :-[
My car was damaged and I had to retire...

An eventful yet also kind of boring race for me. I saw a yellow flag just as I entered the right-hander of the esses & couldn't avoid Axel & subsequently Clive & Robert couldn't avoid me.
I managed to continue & assess the damage which appeared to be light with only slightly off centre steering. From then on it was a lonely race trying to stay on track & not make any major mistakes. I gained positions only by others' misfortune but happy to have made the distance & gained a podium.
No idea how to get the Lotus into the 2:08's & the other fast times are super impressive!

Grats to all finishers, sympathy to those that suffered in the early laps.

HI :)
after doing the pole, as usual, I take a bad start, 4 at T1, then I push to don't let Axel go away .... I just avoid him from one hair when he do his mistake.....as I see on prib, only one gone thru the incident !!.....so, I have to stay focus on the gap to don't let Tim take the slipstream on the long straight line....( there is not mutch place to overtake here ) .... but whith 8 laps to go, my engine stop !....damned !...my fault , I have to be more carefull whith the red zone ...!!.....

....well done Tim ;) ....( good pressure and good fun mate !)
...and podium ...
thx org.

see you all at Porto .....

No worries, can't recall noticing a yellow flag, just got by Clive. Basically T-boned you at the inside, but it totally surprised me, due to track topography. Also Clive piled in. Sorry to Clive for my attempt to rejoin/spin the car...

To me it was a racing incident. ;)
