I'm going to tentatively put this one on my sked.  Miffed that I missed the Lotus 72D at Brands go.

And before anyone complains about the time of day setting, it looks great with this lighting and no annoying flickering fence textures or dazzling reflections like we suffered at Spa. I also tried this time of day for brands and it looked stunning (and very real like the track evenings I've done there) so think we just got unlucky with Spa. :)
My triple screen view from the Ferrari cockpit was mesmerising  :tt1: can't recommend that setup enough if your pc can handle it. I'm using 3 odd screens I cobbled together just to test the arrangement. I get no fps  problem until a 30 car grid online with my 770gtx card (4mb). Will be buying 3 matching thin bezel screens now I've seen how good it looks.  8)

Has anyone put the lotus 72 up against the 312 yet? Wondered how they compare for a future race.

I think I have - either at Brands or Zandy. They were fairly close, the McLaren was also in the same ballpark too.
I'll go fire up AC and see what I recorded...

Turns out it was at Nurby GP-

Ferrari    = 2:02.022
72D       = 2:02.477
McLaren = 2:03.132

All would have been done on practically stock setups, this probably explains why the Macca was a second off the pace...

Cheers Fmg, Those times are reasonably close, especially if you can hustle the McLaren along a little quicker

No probs - no idea how that will change with time spent on the actual setups though  :)

Another hard, H-shifter car. Hope you guys are liking it ::)

First laps are ok at around 80-90% trying work out how the car works round here. But it takes a while to get used to it, not trying to keep the revs up, letting it drop helps coming out of the corners.

Has AC changed recently? the last couple of races i've done the tyres actually feel grippy, loading the ffb. I remember it used to be really bad which put me off!

Don't know how recently, but few months ago there was a tyre update 6.

Jeebers, going to have to recalibrate my brain to get on the pace with these missiles, only 7 seconds slower than the AI so far  :o :-[
Feels pretty intense at full chat through the dunes though  8)

1:41 is best I've managed so far with 40L onboard. Seen the AI do 1:35's but don't if that was on softs and low fuel  :-\

AI is never a good benchmark, especially with such dumb AI as in AC  :P.

I think the AI in AC is the best I've seen in any sim. Try chasing them in a race weekend in these cars, they are no slouches  :-\

:( wish I could heal n toe, Im really ruining my gearbox with these old f1's...

Mmm did a couple of laps Sunday evening on a random server getting the 312T dialed in. Did a high 1.44s. so need to find a few seconds then.
Got an appointment tonight, so hoping to be back in time before booking closes.

Amazing that they were able to simrace back in those days with such blurry graphics.

Pro tip, don't use that video to learn the track, you'll have a bad time. :angel:

I'm very good at it (In RL at least) but still smashed the Lotus to pieces last week and had to retire - I think they gave me a Renault 'box....

Log Parser was happy again this week, here are the lap chart etc.

Well, I enjoyed that even more than I thought I might  :) had expected to enjoy the experience of racing a 70's Ferrari f1 car but thought I'd be woefully off the pace  :P

But some in-qually tweaks saw me improving my lap times each time and with my last flying lap I bagged 3rd on the grid  :o
Had a tentative race start as realised I had left my softs on from qually..d'oh! ...or so I thought!  :shifty:
Fmg nipped ahead down into Tarzan and that set the tone for a full race length chase of his car  8)
I expected the softs to destroy themselves within 3 laps as that's all they lasted in qually when really on it, so I concentrated on trying to be smooth, JB stylee, with no sliding around or spinning up the rears and amazingly they stayed in the zone. Whenever the left rear got red hot (tyre app) I just eased off a bit in the corners.  :)
I started to tire a bit with 3-4 laps to go and fumbled a few gear shifts but kept Fmg focused until the finish line.
Great fun  8)

Great fun that race -very satisfying to see that I managed to fairly consistently keep myself in the 1:39's for most of the race too  :)

Any ideas for Wednesday? Maybe compromise somewhat as there have been complaints about the H-shifter cars

McLaren F1's somewhere perhaps?

we did the F1 GTR recently and it was great fun. Someone mentioned the Formula Trucks and MJ also had the Ferrari 458 italia in mind a few weeks ago. Might be good fun.

Somehow,  I think the k-bow could be good fun. Don't think it is ever used here.

No interest from me in running trucks but you guys naturally feel free to organise one  ;)
X-bow and 211 doesn't really do it for me either after trying them here before  :-\

I was going to suggest lotus Evoras at Donington, not had time to test/try anything else. Will run my Coppa D'Italia series eventually using f458's or F40's.

K-bow need setup work, default is understeery and boring. Otherwise it can be fun, bit like a caterham.

xbow is fun, slides alot...  :angel:

As there is hardly any time (no time in my case) for practice left i would prefer something which does not need a whole lot of set-up time please.

Why don't you guys have your truck race or X-bows this week and get your fix? I'm a bit too manic this week to sort anything sadly. Also got guests staying this weekend so unlikely to sort something for next week too  :'(

I fancied something bit purer to race at Doni this week with an easier car that allows us to focus on some close racing, hence the Lotus cars, but just a suggestion.

Then I suggest k-bow this week and trucks next week. Misano is fun in the bos,  and maybe Brno with the trucks?

So, 3 guys voting for the x-bow and also 3 for the Formula Trucks the week after. Brno sounds nice to me Jeffrey!
Maybe some other drivers could state their preference here too?

The week after that Lotus Evora GX @ Doni then?

I just tried the X-bow, and feels totally different than I remember, but I am still willing to go for it, still Misano?

I did laps with the trucks at Brands Indy, and that is a lot of fun. So maybe there instead of Brno, saves another download/add-on track and relearning Brno again.

Ok. So if we can decide early enough it is going to be Trucks @ Brno we all will have time to download and practice the combo. I have a feeling the lay out is a bit wider than Brands and will give a little more room for overtaking?

It would be the Mercedes and Volvo truck then? Or are there more Formula Trucks to be downloaded?

When I get home I will make a post for tonight. X-bow at Misano. Next week will ben trucks at Brands Indy if nobody else gets something. So for tonight no downloads. 
The default setup felt fine when I tried it, so I wouldn't wordt too much about that.
