Title: UKGPL Season 29 (2015-16) Privateers Trophy (67) - Bathurst - Mar 6

Season 29 Privateers Trophy - Round 10 - Bathurst, Mount Panorama

The final round of Season 29 will be held at the fantastic and challenging Bathurst circuit. Mount Panorama, Motor Racing Circuit Bathurst (also known as Wahluu by the Wiradjuri people, or often simply Bathurst) is a motor racing track located in Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia. It is best known as the home of the Bathurst 12 Hour motor race, held each February, and the Bathurst 1000 motor race, held each October. The track is 6.213 km (4 mi) long, and is technically a street circuit, as the circuit is a public road when no racing events are being run, and there are many residences which can only be accessed from the circuit. The track is an unusual design by modern standards, with a 174-metre (570-foot) vertical difference between its highest and lowest points, and grades as steep as 1:6.13. From the start-finish line, the track can be viewed in three sections; the short pit straight and then a tight left turn into the long, steep Mountain straight; the tight, narrow section across the top of the mountain itself; and then the long, downhill section of Conrod Straight, and the turn back onto pit straight to complete the lap.

Bastian Grupp is the favorite for the title with Dave Curtis still having a chance.

Grats to Bastian for the title and Dave for the win.  Grats on the third place Bill.  My engine exploded on braking for the last corner so I had to coast to the finish line.  If I'd have done a shift R I would have had to do a S&G before the line or take a 10 second penalty.  Either would have cost me the place so I had to hope I could roll over the line before you caught me.  No such luck, you passed me with 50 yrds to go!!!!!!

Had a bit of a shunt with Dave on L6 (11m39s) but that was down to me locking up and being slower than usual into T1, so no fault of Dave's IMO.  But it did drop me back into the pack for some more dicing for position.  Had a good battle with Bernie (12m36s) which shows it is possible to race close with no visibility of your opponent.  Nice racing Bernie, sorry you clipped the grass.

Another dreadful race for me. Qualified 2nd.  Good race to start with, lots of mistakes and overtaking. Then I got hit from behind yet again, flipped on my head, unable to reset until everyone had passed.  Decided to keep going.  Was catching up Bernie bit by bit, when a completely stationary car appeared in front of me in the pit straight.  Couldn't avoid it.  Race and season over.

it seems i hit you twice Ronnie, very sorry.

First time i was trying to go around the outside of you and fell of the cliff.
Totally out of control, i tumbled back on the track exactly on time to collect you as you were braking for corkscrew.

Second hit, i overshot the pitlane after blown engine and shift-r and was reversing back, but i hit invisible part of the pitlane wall which put me back in the middle of the road.
Quite pathetic, all that.

Race was very interesting considering only 8 starters, was going well in the battle for 3rd until i the engine blew.

Also need to do something about warping, i've got laptop which wasn't yet used for gpl online.
I changed some things, but it seems i need to figure out .. something.

Quote No. 57
From Bernies Big Book of Excuses

Quote

The race was almost over when I realised the handbrake was still on !

Did a fair few laps of practise getting down to low 2m 05's on race fuel , but nowhere near that pace in the race , I think I may have saved the set up but somehow changed the data before saving , whatever my race was again a very lonely one after the initial laps . realised all was not well when Phil shot past going into the uphill lefthander before the wiggly bit and promptly disapeared over the horizon !

Noticed a few interesting skid marks here and there around the track telling of close escapes and the demease of various drivers ahead , fortunately I was able to make use of my new stabiliser wheels to keep it the right way up even though everyone seemed to have packed up and gone home before I crossed the finish line .

Grats to Dave on a fine win & Bastian on the championship .

I was having a hard time yesterday, not remembering the two non scoring results.

I thought i'll have to finish second to make it. The pressure was hard and i messed once while breaking the final corner.
I hold second place afterwards, fighting the tired myself and especially the legs (after long gym stay in the morning and the mexico race just before)

Great Pace David, thx all for this nice season.

Best Regards,
Bastian

Fairly quickly worked out that I could not compete on pace. Not sure what times the Pro drivers were at but 2,04 seemed very fast. Bathurst was always going to be a challenge here, especially braking into the first and last turns. In the absence of speed I needed the track to lend a hand & delay my opponents. Congratulations to my team mate Dave on a good finish up against Bastian & Phil in the fast cars. Commiserations to Phil - the Cosworth engine that blew past me early on gave at the last moment. Well done to Bastisn - the champion & fastest driver over the season. You have earned a place in the Pros next season.

Congrats Dave on the win, you did what you had to do, but Bastian finished second and clinched the championship! Well done guys, also well done Billy for third :)

It's official after moderation, but I don't think it will change (much).
