I do this with iTunes which you can download free for your PC. It's not everyone's favourite piece of software but it will allow you to sync your new ipod with your PC and then decide which of your existing MP3 files you wish to transfer. You then have the option to add more apps, music or updates if you wish. Hope this helps.
