Title: UKGPL Season 29 (2015-16) UKGPL 69 Extra Trophy - Nuerburgring - Mar 13 Post by: Rainier on March 08, 2016, 10:46:35 PM +0000 Season 29 - CHAMPIONSHIP 69X : ROUND 10 – NÜRBURGRING
For the last round of the season we move to Germany to race at the legendary Nürburgring - Nordschleife. Since its construction (1925 - 1927), the Nordschleife has enjoyed a reputation as a terrifying and merciless route through the Eifel forests. An English journalist who visited the Nordschleife during the opening race on 18 June 1927 even concluded “that it seemed as if a reeling, drunken giant had been sent out to determine the route”. The Formula 1 pilot Sir John Young Jackie Stewart – after all a three-time world champion in 1969, 1971 and 1973 – was so impressed by the circuit that he gave it the name which it will probably never lose: Green Hell (Grüne Hölle). Racing and winning on the Nordschleife has always been very special for racing drivers, because the track is one of the most demanding in the world. Tricky corners, treacherous crests, steep inclines and gradients and constantly changing road surfaces demand great skill from the driver and put vehicles to a hard test. After 9 races, Tim is leading the championship followed by Tom and Dean. 5 drivers : Tim, Tom, Piero, Doni and Greg could still win this championship, but it should be between Tim and Tom. The race will be run under INT rules and you can do one Shift+R (only one) followed by a stop and go in the pits (Stop and Go must be taken within two laps of the incident unless on the last lap when a time penalty will be added). We will use the patch : 60fpsV1 (ftp://ukgpl3.dyndns.org/Replays/Archive/Season27/60fps/).
Please restrict chat to emergency messages only, including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line. Password: see above (#post_event_password) (2) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=509&theme=6) and remember : Drivers will have a free car choice BUT Each car can be driven only once in this season! Moderation : no more red zone, only reported incidents will be moderated. Have FUN ! Allowable Chassis Choices:

It was a lucky win mind. On lap 2, chasing Tim, I gave the barriers and almighty clout and was amazed a wheel didn't rip off. It did make the car behave strangely in the corners after that though.....very loose rear end. Fortunately, for me at least, Tim also decided to have a few excursions on the green stuff. That allowed me to sneak into 1st place and, apart from one spin, it was a case of getting the car home to the flag; preferably with all four wheels! Congrats to Tim for the championship and to UKGPL for hosting. See you all next season :). My excuse is that I overdrove in an attempt to loose him. Sam's Lotus seemed to have comparable grip levels to my M10 but about 10mph higher top speed so I just couldn't drop him enough to stay clear on the straights. After I span it and he passed me I then continued trying to hard and just could catch back up despite being fairly certain I still had a faster setup (I'd gained considerable distance to Sam on the final lap before spinning it a Kleine Karrusell ::) ), I don't think I acheived a clean lap all race without a spin or a big off onto the grass :-[ Happy to keep hold of the Championship though ;D Title: Re: UKGPL Season 29 (2015-16) UKGPL 69 Extra Trophy - Nuerburgring - Mar 13 Post by: bagrupp on March 15, 2016, 08:36:36 AM +0000 I never heard of Team Gunston before....painting a bt24 in yellow :(
it seemed they tried to tune the engine, it exploded twice in training. don't know that from the original bt24. I was happy to survive, after the second corner i was not good on speed, was accelerating too much than, went in a drift, drove over the wheel of a lotus, (cookie ?) Sorry, it was my fault. I needed my reset later, but then i worked my slow way to the chequered flag.... wasn´t it you who hit me at "Hocheichen"? If it was in the middle of the season i sure must make a report about it. But now that the season is over I thought at least something like a "sorry, mate" from your side was the minimum. Anyway Congratulation to Tim! And yet another Championship for Team Black Night Racing! And congrats to Tim for his championship drive! It's a shame I had to miss this one. I looked forward to it most and hoped to spend a fair amount of time in the BT26 here. It was a convenient time for a vacation so while you guys were roaming around the Eifel Mountains I was roaming around the Rocky Mountains. The drive up and down Pikes Peak albeit at an leisurely pace makes Nurburgring look easy. It was the first time I've experienced brake fade in many years. It looks like Bob wasn't properly motivated in my absence. :( I may not be racing much on Sunday for a while. I've got a lot of gardening work, plumbing work, and auto maintenance and repairs to do over the next several weeks. By the time the summer heat sets in though, I'll be looking for a good excuse to stay out of the oppressive heat. Good to see Andreas back and take care guys. I hope I'll see you on the track again soon. |
