F40 S1?
There is no S1 version in game.

Are we using standard version or upgraded S3?

I assumed the plain one as that's where MJ has instructed us to install the skins to - that's what I set up on the server last night.

1:38.3 pb for me so far. Car tends to oversteer with late gear changes so I'd suggest leaving it in 3rd for most corners as car has enough grunt. Only corners I used 2nd regularly were Druids, graham hill bend and Surtees and sometimes at sheen corner.
Caution on cold tyres again!

Need some testing with toe but ran out of time.

Hi guys,

Not sure if i will race this Wednesday. It has been very busy atm, its crazy. Haven't been near the pc the last week and with a steep learning curve with these cars, i am not sure it will turn out to be an enjoyable race for me.

It looks like we will have game update tomorrow, not just JDM pack ...

Aargh they always do it on a Wednesday  ::) first dlc pack for AC that hasn't got me interested. Is it just cars or have they scanned Suzuka or Fuji too? Not seen a list of content.

Will have to hope the update alone isn't too big and arrives in time to download. So don't leave your booking in too late (like I do!)

Race night gents.

Bit like the F1, I'm struggling with the F40 since the 1.5 update  :( it just keeps wanting to oversteer on itself. Can something be done with the toe settings front and rear to reduce that? Nothing else to tweak in the setup.  :-\
I was on for a 36 or 37 numerous times last night only to get an oversteer moment late on the lap, very frustrating. Done a 38.1 several times so that's my peak at present. Car does transform after horrid first 2-3 laps on cold slicks so have patience!

Max camber front and rear, max toe in rear (front default) and use psi helper.

With that changes, smoothness is still the key because with spinning tires and drifting, you just lose time.

Or do i need to say that throwing around a road car, even supercar, is not good idea simply because of too soft suspension to handle that kind of load transfer.

Did few laps and PB is 36.2 with a lot of mid 36`s and possible high 35`s ...

Thats the best setup ed.

Just use front toe to tweak the turn in..

Smoothness is key, well its always key but more so in this.

Cheers for the tips Ed, will give them a go this eve. Was already using psi helper but didn't use max camber or toe.  :)

Interesting tips Ed. I've had a bit of a play including with camber but haven't tried maxing it out yet. Will have to see what lap times I achieved yesterday and then try your suggestion  8)

Started the update about 15mins ago so hopefully done now. Not bothering with the dlc as no proper race cars in it nor cars I'm interested in.

Ps cheers Pete for updating the server  :)

Max camber front and rear, max toe in rear (front default) and use psi helper.
Stupid question time, I assume are you saying sliders all the way to the left? i.e. max negative rather than +?

Title: Re: UKAC Season 1 BPR GT - Brands Hatch - May 18
Post by: Mark J on May 18, 2016, 08:02:45 PM +0100
Max negative camber I'd think Pete, though rear toe I assume meant max positive.

I found the recommendations from Ed transformed the car and made it very race able, so thanks for that help  :thumbup1:
How do you find out these useful tips?  I thought max neg camber would make it even more edgy but it was much more planted, and why do Kunos give the car a crap setup as default?!

Shame about the numbers  :( but I actually enjoyed driving this iconic car around an iconic track  8) was able to get in the mid 36's during the race, though still made the odd error and cut Mr Palmers grass for him on occasion  ;D
Finished a distant 4th. Had no match for the quick top 3 and the guys behind seemed a long way back this week.

I also enjoyed the combo.. But some peope just refuse to try stuff out and its a shame

You should get the dlc.. For what it costs £3.99 you get some quite good cars.. The supra tuned is a decent race car.. And the mx5 cup car is a hoot... Apart from its amazing brakes.. But i think that will be sorted soon.

I tried, I failed  :-[ I think these sort of cars just magnify the lack of talent I have. I did eventually get within the old 107% benchmark but for every lap I did that I fell off on 3 or 4 others. I was a danger out there last night and quit before I destroyed everyone's race as they tried to lap me.

Had a good time, dispite the lack of any practice with this combo. The mentioned setup tips where very helpfull. :thumbup1: Altough i might went wrong on the rear toe as i was in too much of a hurry to click in the laps. In the race i had one spin when i just touched the grass. I figured i could have a battle with Bob and Peter, but we hardly saw each other sadly.

Nice to get a return race in the F40 though. The learning curve is a little less high next time out and i can bond a bit better with this car. Started my practice in the Ruf right after the race (too bad that combo wasn;t online available). Turns out to be a rather nice driving Porsche  :P, you can even slide it around a bit, even the less talented can manage. Might turn out to give a tighter field next week...

Had a nightmare of a race last night, just could not string consistent laps together without visiting the sand or grass.  Hope for better luck with the RUF next week. Any pointers with set up gratefully received!

Having briefly tried it, it was clear i wasnt going to last a lap full stop let alone a race at speed. A difficult car to drive is not fun. We dont all have your ability to drive them, or time to practise to that level. Cars with the least handling/ engine traits are cars i can drive and then enjoy the race in.
As you guys clearly enjoy driving these sorts of cars great, but you cant expect those of us that dont feature at the front to enjoy them as well.

But equally spanner we aren't going to pick dull slow cars just to make a closer race  :-\ can't please everyone.
I'm finding these cars a challenge but that's also good in a different way. These great iconic cars would never get seen or used in anger otherwise and it's only a short series to get to grips with and enjoy the challenge.
