This appears to be an add-on track - I have a V1.1 (just server files) and a 1.0.

I've just 'practised' on the server using the 1.0 I have but no idea if this is the version you're expecting MJ.

I assume a 2:01.2 is not remotely competitive  :-[

yes I remembered last night that I need to add a link to the track  :-[  It appears to be version 1.2 now, I found it on Racedepartment/mods/tracks last night but their site appears to be down this morning so I cant put a link up yet.

Don't forget you can adjust the boost on the Ruf. The car is infinitely more driveable on boost 5 or 6 so I tend to use that in the corners/twisties then boost it up to full on the long straights. Cant remember what my laptime is here as haven't been near it for a while.

Also, if our resident experten like Ed or Chris have some setup knowledge to impart, please do  :)

These cars actually aren't that bad to drive.

Thanks about the boost heads up. I just left it on max, and it was still driveable. I'd rather have the power available all the time and regulate it with my foot. Can't lean over the wheel every time to press the keyboard, or is there a way to incrementally increase it with a plus and minus?

Also, if our resident experten like Ed or Chris have some setup knowledge to impart, please do  :)

I'm neither of those, but I reckon max camber everywhere, toe out at the front and in at the rear. Atleast, that is what I did. And lower the pressure of the tyres, left tyres by 2 or 3, right by 1 or 2. I haven't touched the diff, as I always seem to make it worst with that  :P

got a quick half hour sesh in this eve, 1:59's for me with 30L onboard so far. As per Jeff, didn't need to lower the boost here, it felt perfectly driveable with full boost. Only thing I keep doing is outbraking myself or exceeding track limits  ::)  just learn to brake 'before' the brake markers and use smooth downshifts to shrug off speed.  :)

1:58'1 for me now with 30L onboard  :)  Achieved several times and probably got some 57's in me with more laps.

I can see I made the same error with boost settings as I did with the Gallardo, thinking it was already on 100% out of the box...its not. But I would say unless you have alien-esque handling skills, leave it on 8 or 9. I managed the same time with it on stock boost as I did with lairy 100% and was more consistent under braking and exiting corners with the slightly lower boost.

Racedepartment is still down so I cant link to the newer 1.2 version. If its not back up by end of tonight, we'll stick with the version I have and will give you a link to it.

ps been a couple of updates to AC1.6 since last race so get your AC up to date.

had a quick go tonight.

you have to be sooooo smooth with your throttle in this car.. really really smooth..

i managed a 1'53.9 but i think i could probably improve to a mid 1'53 as i messed up a corner.

1:53?! damn that's fast  :o  failing to see where I could find an extra 4 seconds at the moment  :-[  I'd say Jeff, FMG and Ed have their work cut out to catch that!

1:53! Too fast for me, mind you so is MJ's 'pathetic' 1:58/59  :-[

I've just updated the server with v1.2 of the track. Shout if there are issues.

Spent an hour on it tonight - 1:57's on stock boost and 1:55's on full boost.
I still have options available in the setup so hopefully I can try and find something to close the gap a bit more to Chris.

Has anyone else tried 15laps at full boost yet? The tyres become 'interesting' by the end to say the least!  :D

started playing with the setup and managed to get down to a pretty consistent 1'53's with 30L, PB dropped down to 1'53.4 but i think with some more tweaking im positive that a 1'52 would be possible.

I was out this eve or would have happily joined the server for some tips, will have to see how it goes on race night.
Any stand out setup tips that help? Found I had to ramp up the front camber quite a bit to get it to lean on the inner edge of the tyres.

Well a whopping total of four drivers attended this eve. Are you guys voting with your feet or just weren't about tonight?   ???
Not really worth my time organising if nobody wants to show up.

As an event it turned into a disaster for me, low turnout aside I then got a Ctd at end of qually when I was just putting my race fuel in  :( a first for me in AC.
This meant I missed raced start and got going 30 secs after the large pack of 3  ::) I then made a few errors over driving to catch up and stayed pretty much 30 secs behind Pete the whole race. To add insult to injury I ran out of fuel on the very last lap  :'(
A night to forget.

Well done to Chris on the win, great pace!  :o and thanks to the 3 who turned up.

Not here next week so no race scheduled, feel free to organise a fun race of your choice  :)

To be honest I'm only doing these to help keep some numbers up - I'm really not enjoying them one little bit. Back to proper race cars would suit me somewhat better. Do appreciate the work you do though MJ trying to keep something going

Cheers Pete, appreciate the support.
I thought these cars would conjure up the racing nostalgia in a few more racers, considering all 3 are iconic cars from that era but even I have to admit they are not proving as fun to sim-drive as I had hoped. But I still like the challenge of trying to master them, however it just seems a thankless task with such low number grids.

Next planned race was the McLaren F1-gtr at Spa in June. May still run that one as wont have time to sort anything different, but after that I think I will bring forward the GT3 Blancpain Sprint series.  :). If that doesn't boost grid numbers I give up.  :P

Hey guys, sorry i could not make it last night. I even had got in some practice last week, so was looking forward to throwing these cars around the track... Good to hear next week is free, as i am away next wednesday.

I do like these cars MJ. Thanks for putting these up. Surely i will drive anything that will boost numbers btw. Still i would like to see this series finish like it was setup, so lets bring in the F1@Spa.
Sadly the online racing community seems pretty small and too devided between titles to get full grids somehow. Maybe a GT series would boost grid numbers a bit. Also racing on weekday's is maybe a bit less attractive then a sundaynight?

I was a little dissapointed with the grid size but hey ho.

I know jason, mark, sutol, luke were busy as im talk to them daily, and bob did come on to watch but he didnt want to race with zero practise.

Imo if you dont drive cars such as these you are never going to get better with anything, sure the gt3's are easy to drive and will bring in more people because of that.. But i find them soooo boring!!

Finish the series.. I certainly am going to be dissapointed if it ends prematurely..

I think it comes down to advertising again.. There must be people dying to drive these cars..

You know what i think might be worth a try...

When we have the server up for practise.. Have it open, so no password.. Then on the welcome screen just have some text saying we are racing this combo wednesday night, pleaseregister etc etc.. If youbwant to race with us.

Good idea Chris, can this welcome message be setup in the acServerManager? If so I can't see where  :-[ I can see a WELCOME_MESSAGE line in the server config file so obviously something can be setup.

Apology from me for non-attendance - I had intended to join, but something came up so had to miss it. I struggle with AC quite often, but still interested in anything a bit retro with H-shifting. Whether perceived as difficult to drive or not doesn't matter.

GT3s on the other hand don't interest me much at all - I'm sure you'll get more numbers, but like Chris I find them rather dull.

I think you're doing a great job though Mark, much appreciated.

AC is dead here, and advertising won't work. That has been tried, and not once did we get a single extra soul through it. People might visit the forum, see the small grids and probably can't be bothered.

I think it would be better to work together with a league that has nice grids, and host on another day than they originally do. Maybe you can organise a series on Wednesday on CORE? I also think that races during the week have less attendance than on a Sunday.

Yea, you have to write a notepad file then use acsm and point to it.

That seems like a fine idea to me. There surely must be potential for a 10+ grid on a Wednesday night.

Good to see there is some support here still  :) but could do with you all on the grid!

Regarding advertising elsewhere, I often do but it gets poor return despite the amount of viewings. I think I drew in about 4 new guys during the E30 series and fun race spell late last year but without regular good grids they just disappear again.
Several sroukers are also racing regularly at Core at present so guess they can't/won't do two races a week.  :-\

With regards BPR or GT racing, I and others felt that gt3 was covered well elsewhere with big grids and had been almost done to death hence why trying to offer new events here using some of the great cars that AC has to offer that hardly get used. Seems I'm damned if I do, damned if I don't, so may as well run the last 3 rounds of the BPR Series then do my Gt3 Blancpain series.

As mentioned earlier, I'm away next week so needs one of you to sort a fun race as a stop gap or you can all practise the McLaren at Spa  ;)

As ChrisR has said last night I was late home and very tired, normally I have a go with most cars, find them a challenge. As you may know I also participate on a Sunday at Core but not in the present series as I find the car not up to Kunos standard. Next series there looks more appealing. Will be back next Wed whatever the combo cheers Bob.

I do like these sort of cars (Although Chris needs some ballast adding I think  :P ) but just to throw a spanner into the works would struggle with Sunday nights due to GPL.

I thought last night's race was great fun - at least until Chris turned up the boost/his own pace and passed me again once I made a mistake.
I'm still struggling with how to setup some cars in AC, it kind of annoys me as I can get close to WR times in some of the GPL cars on my own setups :(
Never mind, at the end of the day there is always someone to race, and this would only be more true with bigger grids.

well we all have Chris' F1-GTR set up now so no excuses for Spa  ;)

Just about to try it out for myself  :)

Edit: tried it, loved it  :thumbup1: just made a small tweak to Chris' tyre pressures for Spa and lengthened the gears. Nice and stable and still quick. Definitely race-able without alien skills.  :)
