Title: UKGPL Season 30 (2016) Formula Two Trophy - Oulton Park - May 31
Post by: Rainier on May 23, 2016, 09:25:13 PM +0100
UKGPL SEASON 30 F2 CHAMPIONSHIP – Round 1 : Oulton Park
It takes us to Oulton Park in Cheshire, England; the home of the Gold Cup. The Gold Cup was a prize originally awarded to the winner of a non-championship Formula One race held annually at Oulton Park. First ran in 1954, Stirling Moss won the cup and he would go on the win it four more times. Although the race regularly attracted the top teams from across Britain and Europe, the increasing costs of F1 and more countries wishing to have their own Grand Prix, the Gold Cup fell by wayside with last true F1 race in 1972. The Gold Cup would continue albeit with different formulaes; Formula 5000, Formula 3000; British Formula One through to British GT and British Touring Cars. Since 2003, the Gold Cup meeting is an event run by the Historic Sports Car Club.

Drivers will have a free car choice
BUT
Each car can be driven only once in this season!

Does anyone know where I can get the F2 season mod from as all the links I have tried appear to be dead?

An exciting race to start the season  :). Managed to bag Pole thanks to a generous tow from Fran in quali. The start went well and I lead half of the lap magnificently......yes I ran wide a Knickerbrook and Tim was through in a flash.

That did set up the first half of the race with an excellent battle. Tim was too good on the brakes for me to try a move so I was hoping for a small error to creep in. Eventually he ran wide at Old Hall Corner which allowed me into the lead once again. This time I lead the race for one and a half laps magnificently..........yes I ran wide at Knickerbrook again  ::).

Eventually I had a half spin at Island Bend which left Tim on his own. Rather than catching him I was too gentlemanly losing time by just being a bit rubbish  ;D. Small errors here and there and being a second off the pace without a car to chase  :-\. Nevertheless, it was enough to bag 2nd and that was good enough for me  :).

Congrats to Tim for a fine win and to Roo for rounding up the podium. See you all at the next one.

I was happy to see there were no incidents (at least around me!) at the start/first lap but eventually I started to make errors from trying to keep up with Dean but we had some good laps together in the process.
Gained some positions due to others' incidents & was amazed to see that I made the podium as I was short-shifting for the last 2 laps & barely made it over the line.

Grats Tim & Sam, unlucky Ronnie.
Thanks admins :)

Agreed, I had great fun. I was kicking myself when I messed up and let you through though  ;D
It's a shame about the incident on lap 2/3 behind me as that could have made for quite a battle to the flag with more cars staying close.

From how it played out on my client replay I would class it as a racing incident to be honest. Same thing could have happened to any combination of drivers

Moderation Published. The deliberation is the hardest part. Thank you to David R. for giving me feedback.

The description is missing from the incident at 0h8m06s - This is how it should have read.

Lap 5 – The exit of Island Bend Turn - Fran rejoins the track after the above incident. Fran pulls towards the middle of the track as Bastian arrives. Bastain is unable to avoid Fran's car and the two cars collide. Both cars are able to continue after losing time.

Blatant Bad Rejoin: normal Penalty 2 Places - The rejoining driver was NOT in full control but nevertheless attempted to drive straight back onto the racing line without any consideration for other drivers and contact was made. The penalty is reduced to one place because Fran reported the incident.

Walter...  Only today have I seen that the results for this event have been moderated and Dean penalized.  Did Dean file a report on our shunt cuz I certainly didn't?  While clearly he was at fault, I put it down to a simple mistake and was inclined to brush it off.

I believe that it was an accident also. A lot of very good drivers made similar mistakes in this race.
