Title: UKGPL Season 30 (2016) Privateers Trophy (67) - Jarama - Jun 12 Post by: Billy Nobrakes on June 08, 2016, 12:03:51 AM +0100 Season 30 Privateers Trophy – Round 2 – Jarama
Round 2 of the Privateers 67 Trophy will take place in Spain at the Circuito del Jarama in Madrid. Jarama was built in 1967 & has hosted nine Formula One Spanish Grand Prix. It has one proper straight and most of the course consists of tight, twisty corners so overtaking was extremely difficult. Race List = iGOR Server = UKGPL_8 IP = see iGOR Race date = Sunday 12-06-16 Time = 21:00 UK time (21:00 GMT) Track = jarama (ftp:// jarama.gaiztor.com/index_en.html /) Race length = 33 1aps (50 minutes) Variant = 1967 60fps patch used = 60fpsV2newmod Damage Model = Advanced Qualifying time = 30 minutes Replays Available Driver lists can be found at the Privateers Trophy page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=549&theme=6) HANDICAPPING The tokens system remains for all drivers. In the interest of having a competitive championship the faster drivers are requested to voluntarily select car that suits your ability, from Race 1. If you are consistently qualifying at the front of the grid, finishing on the podium & recording fastest lap then you should be not be taking a faster car. The championship will be reviewed after Race 3. Drivers may then be allocated to one of the following handicap groups Group 1 BRM, Honda, or Cooper, Group 2 as above + Brabham Group 3 as above + Ferrari Drivers are permitted one Reset / Shift R per race, followed by a compulsory Stop & Go within two laps. If you take your reset on the last lap 15 seconds will be added to your time. A second Shift R will result in Disqualification unless it is the direct result of the first incident e.g. hit when respawning. If you are the first car entering the pit lane to take your SnG aim to bring the car to a halt alongside the last pit stall - closest to the exit. As soon as your car is stationary you can go. You won't be penalised if you stop a little short or beyond the pit stall. In the event that more than one car takes a SnG at the same time the following cars can perform their Stop & Go in line. No overtaking in the pit lane. Until the number of registered drivers exceeds grid capacity drivers may join the server as soon as it appears in IGOR. 72 spins 1 pit in and 2 barrier crashes saw me retired (not to soon ) . Good luck to all who crossed the line in one piece sorry if my mobile chicane got in the way of anyone :) Title: Re: UKGPL Season 30 (2016) Privateers Trophy (67) - Jarama - Jun 12 Post by: Ronnie Nilsson on June 12, 2016, 10:26:56 PM +0100 I do loads of practice, choose a faster car than anyone else, and end up 6th. I guess I've found my level. >:(
Apologies to Bily (I think), whom I touched. Didn't expect you to overtake there, and I tried to give you room, but to no avail. Oh, why do I bother? Grats Dave and podium! Title: Re: UKGPL Season 30 (2016) Privateers Trophy (67) - Jarama - Jun 12 Post by: Michael Turner on June 13, 2016, 09:57:38 AM +0100 I like this course. Twisty yet fast and with no haybales or concrete tyres to spoil the fun.
I enjoyed the racing with Fran then Bernie but the lead pack was nowhere to be seen until they started lapping me. Title: Re: UKGPL Season 30 (2016) Privateers Trophy (67) - Jarama - Jun 12 Post by: Rainier on June 13, 2016, 11:03:12 AM +0100 My first win with UKGP since 11 months. Last was in Interlagos 67 Privateers during season28... !
It was an easy race, thanks to Jani and Batian too busy to be here (Euro 2016 ?) ! During the first 10-12 laps, I keep an eye to the gap with Philippe, then I was more relax. Thanks to the backmarkers when I overlapped them. They did their best on a track where it is not easy to overtake. Grats to Philippe and Dave for the podium. Grats to Francesco, it should not be easy to drive the Honda here !! Next race in Riverside should be more fun, I like this technical and fast track. Title: Re: UKGPL Season 30 (2016) Privateers Trophy (67) - Jarama - Jun 12 Post by: bernie on June 13, 2016, 11:05:29 AM +0100 I like this course. Twisty yet fast and with no haybales or concrete tyres to spoil the fun. I enjoyed the racing with Fran then Bernie but the lead pack was nowhere to be seen until they started lapping me. Likewise , but I was frustrated with my lack of pace , having to press to hard trying to keep up then stuffing it . Lack of practice plus not driven GPL or the Coop for yonks didn't help . One thing I do not like about this track is the dark tarmac which makes the racing line and corner entry very difficult to see ( with my tired old eyes anyway ) ::) Title: Re: UKGPL Season 30 (2016) Privateers Trophy (67) - Jarama - Jun 12 Post by: maddog on June 13, 2016, 12:18:14 PM +0100 This track is no longer a horrama for most of our seasoned campaigners, and I'd no chance of staying with the leaders. But this meant a good mid-field battle with Ronnie and Billy, who were nipping at my tail. I managed to fend off their attentions, without using a fender, for a good mid-field finish.
The battle was already half won, by arriving with a good connection, and with it, a motor that remained fully connected. The replay suggests some minor dropouts. Also shows how not all our seasoned campaigners, have mastered the 'spin turn' technique when stopped, and facing backwards. A big timewaster, to turn around as if you're driving the family saloon. Mastering a 2 second technique could save you 10. :smartass: And why is it, I started and finished the race mid-field, when the dark stuff under my wheels looked more like Tarmac? Grumble! Great job for a P2 finish, Philippe! Uhhh... Get a haircut, will you? ;) Title: Re: UKGPL Season 30 (2016) Privateers Trophy (67) - Jarama - Jun 12 Post by: Walter Conn on June 13, 2016, 01:29:25 PM +0100 Congrats David R! :thumbup1:
I had fun practicing on this track. I think that I like it much more now than my first attempt. Although, it will take me a long time before I learn the fast way around it. Sorry that I could not race yesterday. Hopefully I can make the next race. Title: Re: UKGPL Season 30 (2016) Privateers Trophy (67) - Jarama - Jun 12 Post by: Billy Nobrakes on June 13, 2016, 05:45:14 PM +0100 Reasonably satisfied with that. I could not get near a 1,31 in the Cooper so a midfield battle was a good result - duly provided by Ronnie & Martin. Not many places you can overtake at Jarama so it was a case of not making mistakes. Ronnie - the only contact I can remember was with a car that was sideways across the track - it wasn't a Ferrari. Footnote to say thanks to Fran. I closed up on the last lap & needed to get padt without loosing a place to Ronnie Fran gave me room to pass. Good to see my Black Night team mates on the podium - we didn't have a good start at Monaco.

They should offer more performance for less money, and they should be in stores sometime this summer. But whatever you do, don't do as someone I know did once - bought a PC on a don't pay for it now, pay for it in 1 year's time. Was quite depressing for them to pay a lot of money for an outdated machine 1 year later...! |
