Nice banner MJ.  :thumbup1:

The last time i raced at Misano was WSBK2001 from EA Sports i believe... And it ran anti-clockwise. Wil be a challange again in the Bentley armchair.

Don't ever recall racing here but my racing profile tells me I attended a GTL event back in 2007, I completed 0 of the 21 laps! Hope I do better this time.

I think it's pretty much a new track for everybody. Must have been back in gtl days I raced here too so don't remember any of it.
This race was actually a special night race this year in the real series so I might experiment with a dusk setting if it doesn't throw up any graphic anomalies.  :)
It will take a bit of learning as quite technical and not so many features to get your bearings.

Just got some major bad news which probably means I will now miss this race  >:( the incompetent mob at BT have screwed up my infinity broadband order that was supposed to change over before next Wednesday  ::) but surprise surprise they balls'd it up so my old supplier gets cut off Tuesday then several delay wait for them to get it sorted....aaargh  >:(

Anyone know if you can still race using a bt hotspot?

Yes I remember it possibly from the original simbin GT mod.. I think. Its going to be tough relearning a track you think you know!

Hadn't realised till seeing the poster the SRO connection! Lets hope they don't notice!

This track is fun but is going to be rife for cutting!

The cutting police will be watching  ;) but again don't mind some liberties, its modern GT racing after all  :)

Petes brought to my attention a newer version of Misano, I haven't tested it but feel free to compare it to one linked previously and let us know if better as I'm at work.
http://www.mediafire.com/download/w7tcds4hizidmz7/misano_beta4.rar
if it is better I will swap it out for race thread.  :)

Managed to join the server last night and learn the track. Quite a fun track. Fast and flowing but some tight corners thrown in to the mix.

Still not sure what's going on with my server list in AC. Using the link that Jeffrey suggested, it said there were 984/984 servers available. In game with the same settings it said 972/1012 servers available. So I'm not sure why the difference and why it won't show all the servers.

Anyway, fingers crossed I can join this race as I am supposed to be at work until 8.15pm :(

The newer beta has much better cut detection, its still very much the same track though.

As Eck Simpson said, the misano beta track has a better cut detection and looks a bit nicer, so I think it could be used for the race.

Btw: Compared to the real times both tracks are quite inaccurate ;D Nevertheless wouldn't have thought that this track is really fun to drive. There are fast, but also very slow sections and some nice overtaking possibilities.

This one is slightly better as its in the dry
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uD9uelcha4I

I was hoping to get a skin pack together for round 2 but after sifting through 40pages of skins I only found a handful of Blancpain skins  :(  I'd still like to see some of them on grid but may have to wait until next round now as it looks like I am definitely losing my internet connection from Tuesday for a few days and don't want to burden Pete.  :'(

I would also highly recommend the Helicorsa 'proximity' app for AC. Its very useful for close quarters racing in gt3 for avoiding cars in your blind spots with a subtle radar flash in-cockpit. Worked well when I had feisty Mclarens all over me in the twisties at Nurburgring  :)

don't you? I thought the skins had to be present on server too? plus the driver entry files would need editing again I assume to show correct requested skins.

Seeing as the grid lacked some colour, I can switch to the orange McLaren, or maybe something else a bit different from black.

a skin/car number helps.  I will put a skin pack on my dropbox that contains some good Blancpain racing skins and if anyone likes them in particular, let me know and will see if I can edit the files in time.

Live timing  (great we can finally do this after all these years!)  8) on the practise server so far:-....nfsw setting the pace again and most laps turned.

Server doesn't care for skins but obviously the entry file will need pointing to the correct skin.

How will others see the correct skin then.? Particularly a third party skin. I can't see how that's possible without the server having the same skins  :-\

You can only see skins you've installed locally - so everyone who wants to see the skins (rather than a default white one) will need to download and install the skin pack.

Hi Malveen,
If you can put up a post in this thread (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=13850.0) then you should be added to the championship roster. You'll also need to PM Mark J your Steam GUID I believe so he can add you to the server list with the correct car & skin :)

On the subject of cars and Skins - If you can also let him know what you're driving he can ensure you have that vehicle assigned to you if it's still available

Thanks FMG, have replied to Malveens pm  :)

Good to see more drivers interested  :) this series has the potential to be an absolute corker  :thumbup2:
Am even more miffed that my new internet provider has screwed me for this next round  :'( if I miss Brands (my local) as well, I will be a little more than angry  :(

Might be an idea to include link to skins in first post. I was thinking of running one of the lambo ones, will check the name of it later.

Title: Re: UKAC Season 2 Blancpain Sprint - Misano - Jul 13
Post by: Mark J on July 11, 2016, 08:37:34 PM +0100
i haven't had any response on requested skins other than nsfw and Luka, so assume the rest of you are happy with pre-chosen stock skins for now. I will put skin links in first post until worthy of me creating a skinpack with several in it.  All skin downloading is optional but looks better for all to see a nicely liveried racing grid imo  :)

ps if anyone spots the new driver Malveen on here or on the practise server, remind him he needs to give me his Steam Guid number, thanks. Have sent him pm's too.

pps...jumping on the praccy server for a while  :)

So what about those skins you packaged up? a few days ago?

My internet is pretty shocking tonight, multiple drop outs and restarts. Game did capture a 39.8 but lost connection to the server earlier. Just hpe it sorts itself by wednesday.

When i now click on the forum homepage i now get a saved page from my router telling me theres no connection when clearly there is.

Haha, that would be something eh? Nah, although I am making an Anglia mod, its the real life one getting the attention just now. If only it were as easy to make drive as the assetto corsa version!

Looking forward to the race, haven't had much practice yet - seems I'm over 3s off the pace  :D Hopefully I'll get in for the full practice session beforehand, but have some work to do on the old Anglia, so I'll try and not be late!

I've got some practice in but am obviously missing something on the setup as I'm currently 2.5 seconds off Kai's times in the same car!  :o
I'll be doing some fairly extreme experimenting on the run-up to tonight in the hopes of finding my error...

Just a note to all on track limits. I'm allowing the use of the flat red outer apron as part of the track here as that's what the real series allows. But if I see guys repeatedly getting even wider than that then they face a chance of a penalty when I have watched the replay.  :)

Big grid, keep it clean and use caution at T1/T2 complex on lap 1 in particular

All drivers on my drivers list are in the pre entry now so don't use the booking system to get in.

With luck, and a following wind, the server is available for someone to book in and claim the last available slot.

For the rest of us, roll on 7:15 and open practice.

After I rejoined the server, I couldn't match my own times anymore. Not until the start of the race, did I find out that my TC was reset to the highest setting, and I run it at 50% or lower normally.
That compromised my qually and I had to settle for 2nd.

Had a pretty good start, and saw nfsw go off and thought I would get the lead, but coming out of T2, he rejoined right infront of me and I had to slam the brakes, which let somebody behind me through.
But that person (forgot who) went of 2 corners later due to cold tyres.

I was really struggling with the cold tyres at the start, and it was so frustrating to lose 0.3 of a second on the straight. Now I remember why I normally take high power cars  :P.
Few laps in, I went over the curb on the inside of T1 and got a tank slapper, and for some reason, I just can't correct those in AC  ??? .

Dropped 12 seconds behind nfsw and in 4th place overal behind Maikel and Richard, but both of them gave their position back due to going wide or spinning  :P .

Was able to decrease the gap to 9 seconds, but it wasn't going to work.

Grats nfsw, well deserved win after so many practice laps  :D

Though race. No way I could've matched Jeff and nfsw on quali so I settled for 3rd. Took it easy on the start and lost one position to Richard directly at T1.
The merc felt terrible with the cold tyres and so sluggish on the brakes, had a z4 bump me from behind becuz he probably wasn't expecting me to brake so soon  ;D

Saw Jeffrey lose it and decided to spin out for him so he could have his position back.....

Creeped back to Richard and had a little tap ( damn those brakes  8) )

He spun out few laps later and I was 3rd. End of story.

Though track though  :)

A hard earned 6th for me after early contact dropped me from 5th to about 10th. Takes a good 3 laps nowadays to get the tyres upto operating temps so something to be aware of for future races  ;)

Am always wary of the nimble z's and 650's in the twisties and tonight proved why! Luckily for me there were still some good straights to get the power down so was able to fight my way back to 6th. Alas I could not close the lost 9 secs to 5th especially once my tyres started to go off from lap 18.

Great fun again despite lacking the intensity of the battles I had at Nurburg in round 1, still had good scraps with Pete, Stefan, Sam and then strong multi lap chase of Lukas z4.  :thumbup1:

Few no-shows tonight, but still a good grid  8) what happened to Chris, did a Goldtop and disapeared!

Congrats to nsfw on his maiden win here  :notworthy: and well done to the podium finishers

After a few laps of practice last week, none of which resulted in a legal lap time, I was really not looking forward to tonight's race. A very patient Spanner gave me some setup advice on TeamSpeak that enabled me to get some valid laps in even if they were 5 secs off the pace  :-[ Seemed I was sitting duck out of the last corner as no one struggled to get passed me there  :-[ :-[

Really enjoyed that race. Having got so used to driving late 60s single seaters driving these high-downforce GT3 cars is going to require some re-learning I think  :).

Managed to cobble together some kind of setup but it was soon apparent I was running far more wing than anyone else. I was a sitting duck on the straights and found overtaking anyone very difficult indeed (that may have also been due to my lackluster racecraft  ;D).

A half spin early on dropped me down the order and proceeded to have an excellent battle with Bob and Steve before winding up 11th. Not sure why the chart is showing I completed 20 laps? I'm certain I did 21, although I did return to the pits just after the start-finish straight, if that had anything to do with it.

Congrats to nsfw and podium :)

Thanks guys, the first win for me over here feels great ;)
I drove many laps on the practise server before tonight's race as I never drove this track before. But after 15 or 20 laps the track suited me very well and I found a not so bad setup for my Nissan.
Other cars like the Mclaren or the BMW dominated sector one and three, but sector two is perfect for cars with much power.

It was the other way round for me in practise. I could't match my times until I disconected from the server and restarted the game. After that it was better but in qualifying I didn't found a clear lap. Still got the pole so it was fine ;D (surprisingly I'm always faster on the practice server when nobody is around me :o )
Sorry guys for my terrible start, totally unterestimated the braking point for the first corner with cold tires. Especially sorry to Jeffrey and anybody else who was blocked by me.  On the next corner a white Mclaren did the same, passed me but was too fast and drove off the road. After that it was a very clean race, Jeffrey was close behind me till he had his little accident. Driving through the traffic after half the race distance was great fun, every driver I passed during the race behaved very fair and gave me enough room to overtake. At the end I had something like a 10 seconds lead so I didn't need to take much risk and drove it home safely.
I guess it would have been a hell of a hard race if Jeffrey didn't spun out (wow only 0,001 seconds gap between our fastest laptimes  ;D ), hard to keep him behind in the twisty sections.
Nevertheless once again a very good race with all of you, can't wait for Brands Hatch next week and the first endurance round the week after :D

Btw: My custom skin didn't show up for me, anybody else noticed that? Other custom skins like the Konrad Motorsport Lamborghini or Jeffrey's orange Mclaren were visible for me ???

Bad news Sam, the pit entrance is 'before' the s/f line  ;D not quite sure how you entered the pits after the line  :-\ the race auto ends for you as you cross the line at full race distance.

Best bet is to either ask other McLaren drivers on here for their setup or grab some from race department or setup market.

I remember that I lapped for example Stephen Wenham at least two times. You returned to the pits after the leader took the chequered flag right?   (like it's done in real life as well)
But it seems like the other drivers continued until they also reached 22 laps. Now it looks like you are classified as last on the lap chart...
Maybe something to clarify for further races.

Edit: already done by Mark ;)

Haven't driven Misano for so long I simply didn't know the track at all. Had no practice at all and my pc wouldn't boot so spent most of practice without a single lap. Then it was a total crash course on driving the track. Managed to qualify 10th despite still learning the track but needed a wee and by the time I got back I was too late to grid. Started in pits and waited and waited for it to le me go but everybody streamed by and it still wouldn't let me go. Went up down gears trying to move but eventually when it let me go I was in reverse! Ended up about 25-30 seconds behind before I had left the pits.

Rest of race was actually fun tbh learning track catching people up and eventually getting 8th for my efforts. Maybe could have been battling for a place inside top 5 had I not had a very full bladder. Can we have at least 2 min session change times for next race?

Oh well. Track layout was interesting but version felt half finished and very poor textures for it looked quite sparse too.

I could have worded that sentence a bit better  ::). I hit escape after I crossed the s/f line to return to the pits rather than finishing the slow down lap. Does this imply I need to finish the cool down lap once I've finished the race to keep my position? Very odd.

Looks there where more drivers not hitting their previous times on race day. I was happy with the race pace in the Bentley though and had made a decent start. Then it went downhill for me.

My race was hampered by the minimal specs of my PC and having 20+ cars to render for my poor CPU. The fact i left my window closed to avoid the mosquito's, didn't help either... After 4 or 5 laps it was running hot already. The race was very jittery for me and i just could not be smooth, altough there seemed no dip in fps. Not sure what is the cause, but i will turn down the graphics for Brands and see if it improves.

Congrats on the win nfsw55. Great pace.

Sam you must have still had another lap to do? The race will auto end (screen fades to black) when you cross the finish line. No need to hit escape or anything. It returns you to the pits and timing screen.
Not sure if you were on lead lap or had been lapped?

The game is brain dead when it comes to end of race. In the real world the leader takes the chequed flag and so does everyone else when they next pass the finish line. If you a lap down you will do one less race than the winner. In AC you finish the race after you've completed the race distance, i.e. every scheduled lap. This is wrong but how it works. Our league importer didn't like the race export last night so we've not got the official results yet. Dave's importer may well fix this anomaly.

Ah, that explains it. Yes I was a lap down. I assumed you just hit escape like you did on the old SimBin titles. No worries, I'll try and not get lapped next time. That'll solve the problem  ;).

AC generates the result once the leader crosses the line and then once everyone else then crosses the line. If you watch the text chat it does announce the race has ended when you cross the line after the leader does. If you are lapped then what ever you do on that 'extra' lap is irrelevant as the results are already created. It is something I've fallen foul of elsewhere.

Bit frustrated with the night. car felt like there was slightly less grip than in practise but matched my times from before. First lap went ok but got caught out in the turn 1/2 accident on lap 2 and seem to lose out as people came through. Track is a tough one to overtake and be overtaken, some of the corners end up being more of a dive than planned move as I seemed to just end up dropping further back. Enjoyed the running with Bob and Samb as Bob held us up!

Would have been happy to carry on driving, shame it ended so soon!

Had a good race , was 1 sec or so off the pace and cant workout why must need my setup seeing too. Made a great start was on for first place by 3rd corner and over cooked it fell back into third which i stayed at for a most the race .After i got bumped by mr maikal , for some reason the back end grip had gone and the high speed corners under breaking my car would loose it . Was struggling from then on and lost another place which i nearly took back in the last corner . Great track though be good one for kunos to do or for the guy that made it too finish.
