Practice server is now up - I've also updated Stracker and added the live map (http://stracker.simracing.org.uk:50041/livemap) feature (although I'm not sure it's worked just now as I can only see the map on the Admin Area and not the client one :( I need to try it when there is someone connected, which I'll do this evening).

This may be my last race for a while as we have a new baby due the following week, but I will try my best to fit in nappy changing duties etc with racing as I know which one is more pleasurable! Wouldn't want the pesky children getting in the way of my super important hobby.  ;) :P

Can you explain the points scheme being used?

Need alot of work with the car this week, feels horrible!

The points system is in the first post of the series thread.  :)

Yeah me too on setup, I find Silverstone always tricky to setup for. It has such high speed corners and yet long straights so aero and suspension needs good tuning.

Just been on the server and ran some laps. 2.04.7 which I imagine will be slow lol. Nissan seems very comfortable here though which I guess is down to the fast corners. At Mobza it felt very clumsy.

I'm only on 2:04 so far too, but will get some laps in this eve. Jumping on the server around 7-30/8ish if anyone wants to join me. :)

good turnout on the praccy server tonight  :) think there were 8 drivers present at one point.  Few new faces popped in but none of them engage in chat or seem to want to take part further, odd.  :-\  Maybe they are just seeing a fuller server so pop in for someone to chase/race. Still, makes it more entertaining with more cars present.  :)

ps, please be respectful to any new faces, even if they are being a tad annoying requesting a session skip. Just tell them we are practising, dont shout 'please block him'. I'm trying to encourage more racers not make them think they are bothering us. :P

I'm hopeful I'll be back racing tonight after a 2 race hiatus. Internet has technically been back since Saurday, though has been terrible slow and unreliable; today seems a lot better, so I'll hop on the server soon to check

If anyone sees my connection looking too bad and disrupting others, let me know and I'll stop.

Anyway, I haven't been practicing for weeks, and wasn't expecting to be able to race tonight so haven't set a single laptime yet  :o

Could be well out the points today  ;D

Good race tonight and happy with my performance after last weeks cock up. Made a good start and settled behind Mark in his bright green Lambo. Managed to get past him on the Wellington straight on lap 2. After that, I saw nobody. Those behind were dropping back and Picnic who was in front was pulling away.

Still, very enjoyable, some good points and loving this championship.

Had a great race again tonight.

Started 2nd and had a good start, few mistakes first laps but had a consistent race after that. Saw Jeffrey slowly pulling away. Around lap 12 the tyres were starting to go yellow and complain, but they forgot who was in charge here  (slave labour 8)
Then I noticed Jeffrey was kinda of beginning to struggle aswell and since the Merc isn't  as dependant on grip as the McLaren, I was slowly gaining in on him. Managed to work the gap back from 4,5 seconds to about 1,5 in the end. Shame the race didn't last a couple of laps longer  ;D

No actual battles, but the constant focus on pushing the car and watching Jeffrey's gap was intense ::)

Does anybody have a working replay btw? Mine saved but whenever I try to view it it just loads and then goes back to the main menu  :-\

whoohoo, awesome race for me and my first Blancpain podium   and hard earned too, gaining two places from a 5th place grid spot.  :)

Qually was cool with a good battle going on for the top 5 slots at least and despite popping up as high as 4th late on I eventually got 5th.
Got a semi decent start and kept my position whilst battling a z4 in the early corners. he then seemed to get out of shape and I slipped past following nsf's GTR.
I then had a superb high speed dice with nsf, the Bentley and Nissan perfectly matched as a couple of heavyweight bruisers  for the next 11 laps or so, always glued to his tail and putting him under pressure to hope he'd make a mistake whilst also trying to keep my tyres surviving as they seemed to be wearing at an alarming rate.
Eventually he cracked and lost it at Becketts and I narrowly avoided his wayward car which he just kept under control but I was through  :fencing:
It was now a case of not making any errors with him chasing but I was sure his tyres were in a similar state as mine as we both looked a bit edgy in the corners and I gradually pulled out a few secs lead only to throw a lot of it away when I had a big moment at Beckets myself a few laps later :o but I kept it driving straight and again pulled out a safety cushion until the chequered flag.
Hurrah for 3rd  ;D
Big congrats to the flying McLaren with Jeff at the helm and Maikel in 2nd place  :notworthy:

Hope everyone else had a good race, still down on attendees at 14, hope some more return to action soon but still seems good action going on  :)

During qualification was the first time I drove with softs here, so when I steered into turn 1 on my first hotlap, it turned in a lot quicker than the mediums, and I think I cut the corner there, so I aborted the attempt and went back to pits, because softs are only good for 1 lap. But even in that 1 flying lap do they overheat like crazy, so the last attempt I tried on mediums, but only had 1 timed lap, which isn't enough time to heat them up, but was still able to get within 3 tenths of my soft tyre lap, so really, what is the use of that soft tyre?  ::)

Maikel and I had an equal start, and were both finding our grip during the first lap, both gaining and losing at different places. For the race I opted for the rear wing 1 click lower, but I regretted that the first time steering into Becketts. Car oversteered as I turned in, which took away the confidence I had in the car. With fresh tyres I was able to slowly increase the gap, till around 4 seconds. Buth with 5 laps to go, the tyres felt completely worn, eventhough only 1 tyre was yellow. Car became really tricky to drive, and Maggots and Becketts was a butt clenching ride every time.

Last few laps I was really driving cautiously, but that caused my tyres to have a too low pressure, which made it even worst. Had no pace in the car anymore at the end, and was barely able to hold Maikel off. 1 Lap longer could have been too much  :o.

Had to push the whole race, so it was a tough one, eventhough there were no direct fights, there was just no time to relax.

Well done MJ on finishing 3rd in that thing. I tried it, and hated it  ;D

Top 3 are very close in points, going to be a tight championship battle for those 3, then from 4th to 8th in a fair fair fighting group too.  :)

Was nice being back racing again, very rusty was still fun!

Was happy with my qualifying, managed a P7.

Got an OK start, kept my position and was generally being quite cautious on the first lap, completed the lap in P7 still which I was happy with.

It went downhill from there  ;D Made a few mistakes, all in braking where the car was quite oversteery, seemed manageable in quali but not lap after lap, will have to work on a more stable race setup. Anyway I let a lot of people past with my own mistakes, but I felt quicker than a lot ahead of me but couldn't get passed.

Made some contact with Richard (sorry, can;t remember the last name), he was definitely faster than me and when he came to overtake me at Stowe, he nudged me off the track  Not a big deal, but I was annoyed that I spun and lost a lot of time and he didn't  :P Caught up slowly with the pack ahead over the remaining laps but car was a mess and I was very inconsistant by then.

Anyway, looking forward to continuing the season, with hopefully some actual practice before Wednesday.

Shame this wasn't an enduro round!  8)

I guess considering the struggles I was having with the car setup I have to be reasonably happy with my qually but seeing Picnic 7 tenths ahead in the other Lambo was hard to take. First couple of laps were a bit fraught trying to drive around other peoples pace and never really relaxed into any consistency. Thought I could be quicker than Linus but a few dodgy laps be me dropped me away then had Gary dropping down the order while also FMG and Richard coming up from the rear. Enjoyed the racing through out. Probably only a few laps felt decent from me but little disappointed by my race lap times. Having tried to take out the oversteer It felt a little too much understeer in the race! Interesting to see peoples lines as well, certainly some interesting approaches to some corners.

Ah, another enduro next week as well, around a track with corners!!

Apologies for missing this one guys. Unforeseen circumstances meant I couldn't make it.

UKGPL ends its summer break this weekend so its unlikely I'll attend any more races in this series. By all means feel free to remove me from the subscription list so someone else can take my place.

Thanks for the racing chaps. Didn't really get on top of these GT cars but enjoyed it all the same  :).

I've set the recording quality to medium. High made the 2 hour endurance races just above 1gb. I'm not really noticing any differences between those settings though  ;D
