65 Funrace at Spa67

A warm up for the upcoming restart of S30...

Spa67, the classic track with new layout for GPL. This is the long awaited update to the Papy original. Perhaps THE classic Grand Prix circuit, the original triangular shaped course was designed in 1920 by Jules de Their and Henri Langlois Van Ophem. It used public roads between the towns of Spa, Malmedy and Stavelot.  The course was extremely fast and was made even faster in 1939 with the introduction of the famous Eau Rouge section.  The circuit was completely revised and shortened for the 1981 Belgian Grand Prix but it is the classic 60's 8.761 mile version of the track that we will use for this race.

This version of the circuit was used between 1946 and 1970 and corners like Eau Rouge, Burnenville and particularly Masta presented the drivers with exceptional challenges. Due to the combination of high speed, length and lack of any possible run off, the circuit was very dangerous and claimed the lives of many drivers.

Free car choice and no restrictions, but try to drive like gentlemen and let's all have fun!

Joined late, ran one lap in qualy, fiddled with the setup, then hoped for a miracle :D Unfortunately most of the track is flat-out with these cars, and the constant hi-rev sound of the Honda is unbearable for me... After a minor contact with the fences in Blanchimont exit I decided to visit the pit and retire at the end of lap 1...

Congrats to the winner and podium!
Thanks for the server!

surprised to see so many Honda in the field.
got caught in ronnie & andreas' contact on lap1 then made my own problems each time I re-caught the field.
still love to drive this track, a real masterpiece!
grats finishers, thanks admins :)

tried to join the server after various issues with wheel calibration stuff , when that was sorted ( kind of ) I was getting a black screen on leaving the pits and having to use con.alt.del to win7 task manager and close the papyrus window to exit !

prolly get it sorted for xmas with any luck  ::)

Ripper of a race but tinged with a black cloud as I knocked Axel off the road in the first element of the Blanchimont complex on the last lap.  BOOO!  :(  It was a close thing as I skipped slightly wide and I believe that Axel carved down a bit but I'll take the responsibilty for the contact.  Warp may have figured slightly, too, but I didn't need to play hard-ass.  I checked up at the S/F line to allow Axel to take the deserved win but he drilled me in the tail and spun off to not get scored for the final lap as his Honda seemed to vanish into the scenery.  Strange.  Too, there is some question as to the validity of my win as taking the checkered flag while 6+m in the air isn't in the FIA Rule Book.  ;)

Dean had a spirited drive after some minor errors set him down several seconds and I thought he was out of contention but he stormed back to again be in the mix.  Then, the motor went sour.  Bad luck after a fine drive.

Pity that so many contenders were set back on Lap01 with the monster shunt exiting Blanchimont.
