I visited the track for the last time three weeks ago for the 24h race, so still very impressed and I'm looking forward to our race next wednesday.
Maybe we can also get a 65 car grid for this race (or at least some more drivers than yesterday)  ;D ;D

Quick question guys, is there anyone intending to race at Spa who hasn't got the dlc pack that includes the new Ferrari 488? Got a new driver who would like to use it and to be honest I was thinking of introducing it for Spa onward as a new incentive to attract other drivers and to see how well it fits in with the rest of our gt3's as well as a new intrigue keeping the series fresh  :)
However I wouldn't want any regular racer to not be able to race by doing so, therefore only shout up if you haven't got the dlc.
Ta Muchly  :)

Live timing from the practise server:-

stracker.simracing.org.uk:50041/lapstat (http://stracker.simracing.org.uk:50041/lapstat)

Not got on there yet as still got guests staying but I'm chomping at the bit to get some laps in. Managed late 2.21's offline so far, race fuel and meds

Was just going to post up the link to stracker, rather than keep going to the hungary race thread!

Oh, 21's damn hope my new found speed was going to carry over. Consistencies there, think i've done a couple of laps now at differnt times within hundredths of my time on the server leaderboard! lol

I'm not gonna make this race, even with the reschedule. I'm out of my depth anyway, so I'll give up my slot, for someone with a clue.

Sorry to hear that Eck, what exactly are you struggling with?  have you tried some setups from Race department or Setup supermarket?  be a shame not to see your Audi on the grid, I am quite surprised your the only Audi in this series.

Finally got on the practise server this eve after I packed the guest off. I must have had a few days pent up racing frustration as I systematically smashed my pb's over an hour of improvement  :o :)

Really hope you can stay Eck. Love seeing your Audi.

With regards to setups, I don't actually have any. I download the firstbonebon setup manager that doesn't make me spin and just use that. Some tracks dont even have setups so I just search all tracks and use the first I find. I'm so lazy hahaha

Your more than welcome to have the setup i created for spa for the Audi. Havent developed it much but but find it handles really nicely. Just wanted to see if the same principles from my lambo setup worked elsewhere. Kinda miss driving the Audi tbh.

Put in some praccy laps yesterday evening too. Such a nice track, but i find it difficult to go fast around here. Had a couple of laps behind the Lambo of Mark and it is pretty fast around here.

Keep at it Eck. You will learn a bit every race. And download a setup and have a look what settings have been changed. I can PM you a simple guide in setting up your car if you are interested. You can even ask one of the faster guys to send you a hotlap file for you to chase. I found it most helpful in finding some extra speed.

Ohh, and i haven't got the latest DLC with the 488 GTB yet. Was aiming to get it though, just not sure if i can manage before coming Wednesday.

How does the dlc work with an online server. Does everyone have to have it to be able to race or does the game 'represent' the dlc for you so that you can still see/race against someone using it?

Title: Re: UKAC Season 2 Blancpain Sprint - Endurance round - Spa - Aug 24
Post by: garyjpaterson on August 22, 2016, 10:28:44 AM +0100
Must apologise for missing the last race without notice, definitely making this one though. Haven't checked any times, but I expect to be slow as usual  :D, but its Spa! Can't wait for this one  ;D

Also regarding DLC, if its on the server then everyone has to own the DLC, meaning those without are not able to join. Whilst I have the DLC (those Maserati 250F's...), I woulnd't recommend using it halfway through a championship unless everyone taking part agrees to.

Well it's a deal breaker if any of our regular racers haven't got it then. I can't introduce the F488 which is a bit of a shame.  :(

Maybe but we're well in to the current season, won't be long before it can be used.

OOI can people can car if they wish? If Eck really doesn't want to race the Audi for the rest of season I hate to see an unnecessary space on the grid, although I'd also not expect drivers to be able to change stead more than once. Anyone can make a mistake once ;)

I have also put my setup on Stracker for any AMG users (still might make a few more changes, need more straight line speed to battle the Bentley's I noticed  8)). Tried the one that is on setupmarket and it was absolutely horrible  :-\

Btw; isn't the 488 the only car so far with v10 tyres and brake temperature? If I remeber correctly the 1.8 update introduces this to almost all cars, think it was planned for the 26th.

I got the DLC though. Instabuy with those F1 cars ;D

Despite my preference for no car changes generally, I don't mind Eck changing cars if it makes the racing more appealing and competitive for him. Rather that then lose a driver. For every new driver I get in I seem to lose another over the last few races. Been hard work running this, though also satisfying.  :)

I did toy with changing the weather and atmospherics for this race but after trying a few combinations I'll stick with mid-clear. All looked too grey and bleak in moody weather though I quite liked the light fog.

I'll let new man Glen know he can't use his shiny Ferrari for the series unfortunately. But any new series will make use of it so get purchasing gents, it's only a few quid.

The Ferrari is still on v7 tires to prevent any advantages/disadvantages over the other gt3 cars. But you're right with the coming 1.8 update all gt3 cars will be updated to the v10 tires.

This track and Paul Ricard are its two strongest layouts in the series I would say  :) (as well as Monza but both Bentleys were on holiday!) plus I've always been a bit better at this track since my gtr2 days in a 911   :) not to mention pounding around Spa in my own car for two full days  8)

Of course now ive said that I'll be first into a wall at eau rouge

Well done Stefan though I still need to have unanimous ownership of the fezza dlc to give it the green light. The power of attraction for Ferrari is pretty strong in the motoring world so I wouldn't be surprised if there are budding Ferrari pilots waiting in the wings to join the series with their favoured steed.
Bring on the Porsches I say  ;) though not the force in Gt racing they once were  :'( they hardly figure in the Blancpain.

I'm still wading through the real 24hr race at Spa a few weekends ago and the Bentley is battling the new BMW for the lead after 18hrs of racing  8)

I'm looking forward to the new cars coming and I believe we are getting the BMW M6 GT3 in 2017 :)

I just hope we get more GT4 cars as it would be amazing to have a GT4 championship in the same vein as this GT3 championship.

As punishment I went even faster with nobody to distract me

Well done SRW  :) does that mean I can let Glen use his Ferrari now? Anyone else not got it? I'd really like to see these in the mix at Spa  8)

The server said 1 driver was (Spanner) was on, but when i entered i was on my own. Oh well, at least i could improve my lap time a bit.

Thought I'd post my thoughts of my best race of the season (disregarding the first non-points one at Mugello...  ::)) ;D

Started a new setup from scratch today, since the one I've been evolving the rest of the races has become quick unstable and at the last race (paul ricard) I just had no confidence with it. The new one was quick understeery, but I was able to get quite comfortable with it, so I could concentrate on being quick rather than keeping it on the road.

Anyway, I was very happy to get into the 19's in quali, and that had me starting 5th.

Had a decent start; all I wanted to do was get around the first lap making no contact, and I did it! Came out of eau rouge in 4th, and felt for the first lap or so everyone around was being very caution, I had to slow a lot not to hit anyone. Those first laps were great, I was keeping up much more than I thought I would, and when those ahead were battling, I had an AMAZING view, really aweseom to watch from behind.

I didn't want to get involved, as I knew they were much quicker drivers and I didn't want to ruin their race, but both George who was steaming ahead spun, and then Maikel spun to a few laps later. I was in second! I knew it was only a matter of time till they caught up, and they did, but I kept better pace than I was expecting.

George overtook me at the end of the first stint, but I passed him in the pits! ;D I felt a bit bad, as I held him up a fair bit after, I wanted to let him passed without me losing much time, but I seemed to have a lot of speed in a straight line which made it difficult. He got me quite soon, and Maikel did too.

After that it was a straightforward cruise home. Thanks to my new setup I wasn't fighting the car too much, although a concentration laps at La Source in which I span allowed Mark to catch up, though not enough to pass me.

I'd actually love to see a replay if anyone has the file, I bet my spin looked so stupid   I wasn't even pushing hard, I think I just forgot where I was for a moment!

Happy with that, only made one proper mistake, and made no contact.

Also, was anyone taking Eau Rouge/Radillion flat? Near the end of the first sting where I was at my most confident I was pretty close, but couldn't do it keeping within the white lines.

Well done Gary, nice job :)

My race just didn't go as I hoped, can only think it was the heat but I was just not on the pace tonight and didn't get near my regular 2.19's during the race.

Qually was great, duking it out with a couple of cars for 3rd to 5th and only pipped into 3rd in the last seconds by Maikel.
Race start wasn't so good, too much wheel spin and I got swamped  :(  I was overly cautious to avoid contact on the first few laps and the nimble cars climbed all over my Bentley barge. I literally dropped down the order one place after another as I couldn't get clean air and my tyres upto temp. Soon I found myself as low as 10th  :o I was suffering in the heat and sweating ridiculously.
It took me until lap 8 or 9 to begin to get a good rhythm again and I gradually caught and picked off several cars using the Bentleys grunt up the Kemmel after good speed exits  through eau rouge.
I eventually closed on Simon in 5th? and he pitted one lap ahead of me. I steamed around for another lap then pitted myself. When I emerged i was on my own with a 20 sec gap to the front 4 and not much chance of catching but I steamed on with a decent gap to any following cars.
Then Gary had an incident and I had only a 9 sec gap to close but I just couldn't get below 2.20's lap times no matter what I tried. :-\
Ended the race in a disappointing 5th at a circuit I expected to be stronger at.

Loved the early laps and chasing 4 cars ahead. Felt like a proper endurance doing an hour in that heat!

Big congrats to nsfw on the win and Georg and Maikel for the podium  8)

Interesting race for me and not so enjoyable as I was hoping. For some reason, my Nissan went horrible. Understeer, oversteer, losing tyre heat, then coming back, fighting it and then not. So weird.

Anyway, qualified 9th and by the end of lap 1 I was up to 6th for some odd reason. Had a nice battle with Mark J in the Bentley and tried to hold him off but just couldn't. Then spent a good few laps chasing Mark and Pete in their Lambo's and I think Simon in the Merc. Not sure what happened to Mark J but he then ended up behind again and as I closed in on Mark's Lambo, Mark J closed in on me so rather than get involved, I pitted after about 8 laps to try and get some clean air and do the undercut. Came out in 11th and worked my way back up to 6th and finally dropped to 7th when Simon passed me near the end.

So a good result but the Nissan was hard work.

I had a dismal race. Entered the server for qually, my wheel didn't work. After a restart i found myself on the grid with a 99% cpu warning, so the whole race was just trying to get round with the game stuttering now and then. Not good for your race pace! Had no problems on the Hongaroring and the AI race i did last week showed no problems either. I would guess that that would be more of a performance killer then an online race, but apparently not. Really annoying how performance fluctuates so much between tracks. I am hoping v1.8 will give me some performance gains..
Possibly the heat was a problem too as the fan was blowing like crazy. Oh well, gonna set my visual settings to low and see how it is next outing.

Top 3 in the standing looks very close btw!

Yes top 3 in the series are taking it to the final chequered flag by looks of it whilst I am locked in my own battle for 4th place with my nemesis Shark Simon   :fencing: only 1pt between us after 8 rounds  :o

Good close fight for points for 6th to 10th too with Pete (what happened to you mid race last night?) dropping valuable points at Spa.

Standings here:-

Got to say I was a bit disappointed that only 12 guys made the grid from the 21 names listed in the drivers file. :( a couple I know about but others just haven't bothered to show up even for a big event like Spa  :'( I doubt any new drivers will join now we are 9 races into a series so bit of a shame it's petered down a bit. Would help if some drivers joined in the forum chat a bit more and created interest otherwise I feel like it's just me banging the drum.
Thankfully most of us had several drivers to race against last night for lots of laps but the lacking numbers showed in the second half of the race when I hardly saw another car.

The overtakes were cleaner now, however still lost combined 19 seconds.
Pace was good, need to work on pitstops & consistency now.
A complete driver makes no mistakes.
Cheers everyone,
see you at the Ring.

Lost the will after losing it trying to pass Spanner, sadly we had contact while I was out of control and it damaged my car. I elected to take an early pitstop but couldn't change the setting once in the pits so no damage was repaired. Driving while trying to use the mouse to reconfigure the app resulted in another huge chunk of lost time so I simply gave up. Out of the points, minutes behind anyone else and it was simply too hot.

Who could've guessed, finished 3rd again  8)

Qualli went well. Just managed to get 3rd back from Mark J. in the last second. Had a good start and managed to get past Nsfw on the inside, but I knew he had better pace so it wouldn't last that long. Had trouble getting into my pace the first few laps, saw George spin out and I was first all of a sudden.
Had Nsfw right behind me and we went side by side for a few corners, but he eventually got by. Had a spin or 2 after that and then I was chasing Gary for 4th.
After the pitstops I rejoined right in front of George, thought I let him by easy on my frozen tyres ;D
Was still chasing Gary after that who had a good pace, unfortanely he also had some minor mistakes and I managed to overtake him. Pace was alot better the 2nd stint.

Not a bad result after all  ;D

I'd actually love to see a replay if anyone has the file.... I have one Gary but won't be able to upload while tonight after work.

Had a whale of a time last night, even encountered a couple of cars after my pit stop!
Was in a Bentley sandwich for most of the first stint, it's so scary seeing one of those bearing down on you in the rear view mirror  :tank: lol
Got a PB in Quali so happy with that, looking forward to the next meet now, thanks to all involved, had a really good night  ;D

That was a really good race for me, finally another race win :)
I had a very good race setup, even managed to do a 2:17.9 during the practise session on mediums. The soft tires overheated so fast during my qualifying lap so I was slower with them than with medium tires ( with a better tire management the soft tires should have been faster though) , but nevertheless managed to start from P2 on the grid.
Lost one place to Maikel at the start because he was on the inside line for turn 1, didn't want to risk a damaged car early in the race so the first laps were a bit careful.
In lap three Georg spun out at the front and the battle between Maikel and myself started. We had some good fights, going side by side into the busstop chicane and several other turns. But all went well without any contact and I was able to overtake him in turn 1. Soon after that Maikel also spun behind me and I had a comfortable gap tp Gary in P2.
Soon the pitstops came up and I came in after lap 12. When everybody pitted I noticed that I gained some more valuable seconds during the pitstops.
The last laps were quite relaxed as I had nearly a 20 seconds gap to P2, but still concentrated on my driving to avoid any stupid mistakes.
Sadly only 12 drivers for the big Spa event, maybe it was too hot for some ???
Still hoping for a bigger grid at the Nürburgring, looking forward to it.

A bit more determination to defend your track position, Maikel ,)

nsfw, lower soft tyre pressures by 1 psi in order to keep them in their optimal temperature range.

replay for everyone

Thanks Georg and nice screen shot  8)

A costly capitulation last night then Pete  :surrender: I saw your spinning car as I was battling Michaels Nissan and we both luckily dived either side and avoided you. Surprised you picked up much damage from a side by side?

Massive understeer I'm afraid. The lambo seems to suffer this as a trait normally so maybe damage just exacerbates this. I wouldn't pick this car again when we run another championship using these.

Thanks Goerg. Can't wait to see the replay, just downloading now. Might make a short highlights reel video if I have time... might be centred around me though  :P I'll show off the front row seat view I had of NFS and Maikel fighting it out :o

Just want to say that I was well aware you (and Maikel) were much faster than me and that I was well out of position, and wanted to let you guys passed without delay for me or you. I didn't really do it properly though   The first time you passed me was OK, I braked deep into the last chicane, the second time (after the pitstop) wasn't so clean. The problem I was having was you both were getting very close to me in the bits where you can't pass, then at the end of the long straights I found you weren't as close!  :D I can't properly remember, but someone passed me into Bruxxelles when I went wide, I think I could have defended, but decided against it.

Anyway I did enjoy that one, hoping the next will be as fun.

cool  nice pictures 8)

Was going really well until Pete tried to pass :P

Somehow managed to keep ahead of the growing train behind of Shark, Mark, Picnic and Linus but was pushing too hard and slowly got reeled in. Was interesting, but watching my mirrors too much! Couldnt work out why the Nissan and Bently hardnt breezed by. Shark came by but then seemed to be slow everywhere letting Picnic get on my tail who got a past into first right-left aft the straight (sorry, useless at corner names) but then got a bit of a tank slapper as you were heading right but on the LH side of the track. You slowed so much in doing this I tried to go to the right of you, more to miss you than try and re-pass. So it probably wasnt a big hit, but its been noticable in my lack of pace during the races, normally with some damage to the front so was cautious and decided to pit and repair the damage. Wasnt expecting it to take quite as long, thy could have had a countdown to make it more obvious!

Ended up right at the back but then couldnt even gain on SRW ahead though it was hard ot work out the exact time gaps as my app was constantly varying. still enjoyeable tojust lap on my own though.

Only in the online leagues and series section for some reason. No idea why posting up your league events needs moderation first  ??? Considering you can spout off about anything on all the other posts and threads  ::)
