You may have noticed that I went for a compromise, think of it as a long sprint with a pit stop, 50 minute race.

Had a few laps in several cars, and I think I know my car for next season, the Z4. Tried the Lambo as I wanted that, but it felt weird, really violently goes from understeer to sudden oversteer. Sounds great, but didn't like it.

Then I tried the Z4, and that was such a joy to drive. Amazing brakes and extremely stable. So if people are struggling with their car, try the Z4, as it's really enjoyable. And I was able to get it close to my McLaren times in a few laps.

You initially question if it should be a 35mins sprint race or 60min enduro, even stuck up a poll. Now you've gone and changed your mind again!

My best offline was 1:58 but also keep trying out the Audi and was a second slower. IT definately doesnt have the same level of grunt compared ot some of the newer cars. Certainly with a view to next season.

No mind changed, the voting was close with no clear choice so as I said, I went for a compromise between the two. 50 mins is a long sprint and without the 20+ car grids I'd hoped for, it should fit right.

Had a few laps to test and see how well my sprint setup would manage here ( and also had to test the new Praga R1   8))

Decided to see how the Lambo and Audi managed here for myself and I have to say that the BOP here is pretty good  ;D
Audi drove pretty well, much better on the brakes then the Merc and quite stable and the lambo wasn't that bad.
Almost managed to beat my time until I hit the wall in the last corner ( too much oversteer when getting of the brakes ) though that'll probably be fixed with some suspension/dampers tuning.

Not sure yet what I'll pick next season, probably the new Ferrari  ;D

Yes, finding the Audi has the best chassis, but weak engine. Lambo is good, but needs alot of setup work to get it to where you need it i find.

That is some fast laptime with the Lambo, did you have a setup for that already?

No, but I changed the standard setup right from the start, not even sure what I all changed but it felt pretty good. Though I was only running it with the standard 30 Litres of fuel.

Might upload it to ptracker if any lambo users are interested or if I'm still able to find it  ;D

How do you do that? I've looked through the various tabs on s/p tracker but couldnt see about uploading setups.

Tbh would be more interested in the Audi setup as well lol. George has given me a steer as to how to setup these cars, which opened my eyes.

On ptracker in game. If you click on the app and get the expanded stuff and all, there's a tab with setup/players were you can send a setup to ptracker for everyone to download ( so public ) or you can send it to someone personally and then they will have to click on save setup ( which is normally greyed out until someone sends you a setup, turns yellow then )

Atleast, if I remember it all correctly  ;D

And still no v10 tyres after the 1.8 update  :(

On a side note: I found this very helpful to learn about setups : http://www.racedepartment.com/threads/assetto-corsa-car-setup-guides.99049/

I remember seeing posted up somewhere, virtualr, maybe, a list of future cars to be included in AC. But i cant seem to find it anywhere. Wondered if the newer GT3 cars where planned, BMW M6, Audi ?

Yes, both scheduled for early 2017 as Porsche is top priority atm.

Porsche should always be a top priority  8) ;). Can't wait to get my grubby mitts on some AC Porsches, especially the older ones.

Yes have read numerous times that the new M6 gt3 was appearing too. Not heard of a new Audi though and wasn't aware there is a new 'real' Audi gt3 to emulate  :-\ the one that's in game is same as they use in gt racing now isn't it?

Got some laps in this eve and gradually improved. Have slotted in behind the aliens as is my norm.  :) much prefer this gt layouts final chicane over the normal one, faster and more flowing yet still tricky. Get it wrong and you can either get airborn over the left kerb or pile into the Armco headfirst on the right  >:D

I threw some setups on ptracker.

The Audi one ( the one thing that puts me off on this car is the sound  ;D, still could use alot of tweaking )
The Lambo one ( improved it abit to make it easier to do some trailbreaking, had a good lap with the car, still needs some tweaking the pressure and gears maybe )
And my own AMG one. After all those different car setups I managed to improve my own even.

We should call this a day and just keep these standings as the end result.  ;D
58 points in one go. Gonna be awkward at the podium ceremony though  8)

If we do happen to get any new drivers turn up now in the last few rounds I think it's fair that they cannot score championship points. They are still welcome to race but not right for any Johnny-come lateleys to interfere with the drivers points table so far in.

As I have every round, I'm really looking forward to this race  :) it's not the Bentleys strongest track because of twisty sector 2 but two nice straights for me to monster the little cars

Sorry don't agree with that, it may seem harsh but all those people who've dropped out and scored points have effected the championship, they just did it at the start of the season not the end. It's also a sure fire way not to attract new blood.

Yes it does Tony but new drivers may not be aware of that link and also I was just trying to highlight the top 10 in my race thread to drum up some enthusiasm and pre race tension  ::)

As for champ points, while I agree it's a pain that quite a few drivers have dipped their toes in and taken valuable available points then not bothered to show again, I still think that's less annoying than someone turning up with two rounds left and affecting a championship battle. So no, I don't want to allow it. There's been enough posting here and at Kunos for everyone to be aware of this series so if they haven't turned up by now I'm not really interested, they can wait until the next series. It will not matter a jot to a new driver getting champ points, he'll just fight for the best race position, but it will matter to those of us who turned up all season.

I have sent more pm's for this season than I care to remember, via here, Kunos and core sites as well as emails. They know it's on and know it's here so guess it doesn't suit them or can't compete in it. Some answered with their reasons but others don't even do that. It's dispiriting when you put all the effort in but what more can you do? :-\
If a Blancpain themed gt3 series can't keep them in, nothing will  >:(

Sim-racing is a hobby that requires time and effort and even if laptimes are secondary, many don't take it as seriously as maybe you and I do.

Thanks Georg, I am a motorsports nut hence my enthusiasm  :). I just want fuller grids and great racing. I've had plenty of the latter in this season, just wish the early promise of a full grid had stayed the course. Running it in the summer didn't help, lesson learnt there.

Darn, had hoped to get on the praccy server this eve but real life's got in the way, will have to do any last minute tweaking pre race tomorrow.

The first setup I downloaded for the Nissan is amazing. That guy also made a Lambo setup which I am going to download and see how it is. Now let's hope the tyres won't make all the setups absolete again.

So you better start thinking about GT3 season 2 - 10, because there is too much to choise from with regards to cars  ;D

Mark, if you can, could you look at the start of lap 5 when we both overtook Kai. Unfortunately I drifted in to him and knocked him of the track and ruined his race. I waited but I think he had too much damage and retired. Happy to get a DQ as it was not fair on Kai as I ruined his evening.

Kai, really sorry for ruining your race and evening. Feel really bad as it was very poor driving by me. Sorry.

Phew, another great race.

There's just something about this track which invites lots of close racing, probably the very few overtaking spots.
Nice to see how clean the start was, managed to stay behind Georg for the first few laps, then Jeffrey had an off time and I was sandwiched between the McLaren's  8)
Had to focus on not copying the braking points from them, still surprised I managed to keep up slightly in the first half of the race. ( though I absolutely massacred those tyres trying    :P )
Almost managed to park in the right spot at the pit this time, just overshot it by half a meter  ;D
Was too far back so decided to take it abit easier and just hope someone crashes infront  ;D

Still, had a few great battles with both McLaren's

https://www.dropbox.com/s/lj7wcabqscu0xt1/ks_mercedes_amg_gt3%40ks_nurburgring-layout_gp_b_20160831223144?dl=0
The replay is over 700mb this time, seems they made the quality abit better after the update. Also, they included the practise and qualify session  ::)
So skip ahead to the 1 hour mark for the race  ;D

Btw Jeffrey, did you only pit for tyres? I didn't even think of that strategy  8)  Nice comeback to first

Well that was a race with highs and lows.

Wanted to get into the 53's during qually, as I expected that to be needed to try and get pole. The first 2 runs, I messed up my first timed lap, but for some reason, the softs survived a lot better than they did before. So I was able to get a 2nd timed lap out of them to set some times.

Had a good start, but went in to turn 1 a bit too cautiously. Had cars left right and almost centre and lost a position to Georg. Was able to get that back in turn 3 and 4. I might have scared Georg with my line into turn 3, but that's how I saw the pro's do it in MJ's video, so I just copied it  ;D.

At the end of lap 2, I had nfsw's Nissan behind me, going onto the s/f straight. I remember looking behind and thinking, he is too far away, I don't need to defend, when all of a sudden, his car comes rubberbanding past like I am standing still  :o . Was able to follow him for a few laps as his ping went down again, but halfway through the first stint, I was right on his tail when his ping was back upto 150. His car slowed down more than normal in turn 7 and I tapped his rear, sending me spinning and getting aero damage. Luckily, the damage is less when you hit a lagging car, so it only cost me a few tenths per lap.

But it dropped me behind Maikel and Georg with a damaged car, good luck getting past them now  :P. Maikel had a few gymkhana moments, getting that Merc really sideways. At some point he drifted through turn 11, and I thought, I'll go left. Then his car swooped back, which got me thinking, uhm, okay, I'll go right then  :D.

At that point I was in 3rd and around 6 seconds behind the leader. I knew I didn't have the pace anymore with the damage to go for a straight up fight. So I gambled and opted for a no tyre change pitstop and just fuel. After the stop, I came out of the pits 10 seconds ahead of nfsw, but with stone cold and worn tyres  :o. So that lead quickly decreased to 7,5 seconds, with around 12 laps to go.

I knew I had to make the first few laps count, while my tyres were still kinda okay. Nfsw's fastest lap at that time was a 55.3, so I guessed he was doing steady mid 55's from that point on. With the lead I had and the laps to go, I was aiming for a loss of 0,5s a lap. I had to get low 56's lap times, or else I wouldn't make it.

Was able to kinda het those laptimes, but lost a second while lapping somebody, which really made things tight for the rest of the race.

Laptimes remained pretty stable in the low 56's untill the end, when I backed off, as the tyres were pretty worn and I didn't want to throw it away now.

Happy with the win after getting annoyed with the crash at the beginning.

For future GT3 series, a race length of 55 minutes or so might be ideal for different strategies. Shorter and not changing tyres will be best, longer and the race would be too long for 1 set. Might liven things up with the strategy, as now you never reach worn tyres with 2x30 minute stints  :) (Just an idea).

Grats Maikel and not finishing 3rd this time  ;)

Sorry to put the boot in but yes I did see that in my mirror and shouted (to myself) 'what are you doing?!' It did look very clumsy and unnecessary on a wide straight  :( it was a real shame as I was really enjoying the close fight with both of you. I'm afraid it will have to be a penalty.

I was also not impressed with having my last two flying laps ruined by someone having contact at the pit exit during qualifying, especially when I'm in such a close battle with someone who then qualified ahead of me  :( What happened there?

Had a good race chasing my nemesis for most of it but just couldn't close enough and made small errors costing time as I was pushing the car as hard as I could. It was an understeery brute tonight. I was drenched in sweat at race end! Annoying thing was I was only 2 secs behind at the pit stop but Simons car was parked in the bay before mine and I lost several seconds getting my car into the proper slot to activate the pit crew. Emerged 8 secs behind  :'(

6th felt a poor finish for the effort but enjoyed the chase. Shame my two closest rivals early on had the incident or it may have been a humdinger until the chequered flag.

Big congrats to the closely fought podium, you guys were on it and very close  8)

I would have been in the bay behind you, Shark was in the one behind me. However, you do know you can drive through other cars in the pitlane don't you? Shark was in his spot when I came in and I'd have never got in my spot without making use of this feature.

That was a crazy race...

Qualified P3 (wtf this McLaren pace :o ;D), but was able to overtake Georg after two turns and Jeffrey soon after in lap 2. After Jeffrey's tires were warm enough he once again challenged me really hard. He came so close to me in every corner, but I escaped on the straights :D Sorry for lagging again, for the second time now, if I can't get it sorted out before next week I'll probalbly skip the last round, I don't want to annoy anyone for a third time. But I'm definately looking for a solution until next season.
Our little accident in turn 7 probably was't due to any lag, Jeff, I overshot this corner a bit and braked way more than in the previous laps. Nevertheless, I guess this was bad luck for both of us.
After that I had a little gap to Georg in P2 and was able to hold the position. After the pitstops I found myself back in P2, as Jeffrey obviously didn't change his tires during the stop. I also thought about this strategy before the race but the Nissan has a higher tire wear and would't survive a 26 stint with only one set of tires xD
I still hoped to catch Jeffrey again, but after a few laps I realised that this probably won't happen.
Some overlapped cars and some mistakes from my side made me look more into my rear mirror than forward to Jeff.
At the end it was very close between P1-P3, happy with that as the McLarens were faster than me, again :D
I already did a league race a few months ago with the Nissan at Barcelona and it was a pure nightmare  ;D , so I don't expect much from the next race. But as I said, maybe it's better for everyone if I skip this round ???

I understand that it was an accident so you really don't need to so sorry, and DQ is not really necessary. Anything can happen during a race after all.
Car took enough damage that I lost all control so I decided to retire at that point, I couldn't straighten the steering wheel and all windows broke so visibility was blurred.

Great to see that any of the top 3 could still win the series with one race remaining  8)

Me and Shark are still locked into a fight for 'best of the rest' with only 1 point between us after 9 rounds  :o

Georg and Kai would no doubt be making it a 5 way battle for the championship if they had contested more rounds so it's been a very closely fought series.  :thumbup1:

Fun race, nothing special though. I kinda hate the track, so glad I finished where I did tbh.

Felt decent in practice, though everyone around me managed to find much more time in qualy than I could, so started 8th.

Start was ok, though I had someone make a wee but of contact on lap one; in a real GT3 race it'd be nothing but in AC it managed to hurt my top speed a bit  Was a bit annoyed at the time but passed them when the contact happened ahead.

Felt good in the first stint, had Spanner really pushing for what felt like an age, but he tailed off a bit and I could breath. Went into the pits and I bloody missed my box!  Had to reverse back into it, lost some time and therefore Spanner got ahead of me!

The first few laps felt good, and I was right behind, trying to keep the pressure on. Wasn't long till he span, and just as well from my view because after that I had no pace. Spanner was well and truly faster than me and catching, and I was falling off from Jonzo at a rate of knots. Luckily I had enough of a gap to keep 7th, and overall happy enough to collect a few points.

Also I think its the first race that I managed to not spin, although I did make a couple of detours to check the grass was well kept

I notice a few people were getting these penalties on the Ptracker thing, what does this actually do? It sometimes says X didn't serve their penalty, how do you serve one and do you get another for not serving the first one?

Anyway, good close race up front once again, looking forward to the conclusion next week of my first ever league/race season. Wouldn't mind joining the next one :)

Thanks Kal for being understanding but I do feel really bad as it was totally unacceptable and poor driving on my part. I think I was so focused on getting Mark's draft that I didn't notice I was drifting over and the track kinking slightly. It's not fair to have ruined your race and your evening so I think some kind of strong penalty is needed for sure. Really sorry again.

Saw you not far behind me for several spells Gary and worried you were closing me down until I assume you went grass cutting and the gap improved.

Ignore the messages about the cuts, they are generated by an app often used to deter cutting but I chose to not use it in this series as it can give penalties undeservedly and ruin good races. Self policing appears to be working on the whole.  :)

Re pitboxes yes I saw one of the blue cars pass through me whilst I was pitted but it's a bit gamey and I would rather see everyone pulling around cars not through them during a race. I hope AC close that loophole. I don't mind in practice or qually but not the race proper. Just because it can be done doesn't make it right  ;)

To Michael, your contact with Kai wasn't malicious I could tell but it was very clumsy on a straight. Do you use the helicorsa app? It's very useful for letting you know your still alongside another car rather than cleared them

Haha, no everytime I was mowing the lawn I was losing plenty time. It was mostly on the last chicane, I was getting the entry a bit wrong, then carrying too much speed and scooting across the grass, having to get slowed down and turned back onto the track to make the last corner.

I think the closest I was to you was the lap just before the pitstop, and I also seemed to gain a lot entering the pitlane (I guess you slowed down before the game forces you to... I definitely didn't  ::)). For some reason thats when i felt most comfortable, a few laps after the pitstop I was all over the place, and you took off into the distance.

Uhm, so you can just drive full speed untill the game slows you down to the pitlane speed?  :o

Yes, but if you do, you have to do 30 push-ups and in case you win, entertain the rest of the field with an a-capella Rihanna song at the end of the race.

Next time I will just full throttle untill the game slows me down, if I get a penalty, I know where to find you  ;D....and name your song of choice, I have all of her albums.

Yep, guilty I know. I would prefer it if we had a manual pitlane limiter, where you had to slow down properly for the line or get a penalty, but in AC there is no such thing so I make the most of it.

Same with starts in AC, although now they have now implemented false starts (though its not enabled in this champ though).

Helicorsa is definitely a must for anyone using a single screen, don't know how to live without it anymore  ;D

I have to say, I like Jeffrey's idea of making this the standard racetime and people having different strategies. Though I can't imagine driving the Merc for 26 laps, after about 10 I was already starting to slide alot  8)

On a side note; over at coreracing we got the sunday the 11th a one-time race of 52 laps at Silverstone with the F138.
And since it was kinda my suggestion I was hoping to fill the grid, only 8 out of the 26 so far.   :-\

Well i could have driven for 10 more minutes, definalty a track i enjoy driving. Shame it was a bit lonely after some really close racing in previous rounds. Thought i was doing well to keep with Gary, in fact at times he was holding me up in some of the corners but a few dodgy laps and the gap grew despite it looking like the cars ahead were slowing each other up. I'd actually forgot about pitting on the lap i wanted and just managed to pit on fumes on the next. Did feel strange not being able to attack the pit limiter line, but thanks for the tip for next time! It felt like the stop was taking ages but as i was heading back out i saw Gary was still stopped, with him following me out making for some really tought laps.

Had no grip with no temps in the tyres for a few laps then found the rears were sliding too much which caught me out and spun out giving the position up. Luckily there was no one close to me so just focused on trying to close the gap and thought i could see the back of the car a few times.

I hope any future series will be confirmed soon to ensure interest is maintained?

I ran mediums and pitted with 8 laps to go. I could of probably done the whole race without a stop as my tyres only started to go yellow by then. Car felt nice sliding as well.
