Title: UKGPL Season 30 (2016) Works Trophy (67) - Mosport - Aug 28 Post by: Billy Nobrakes on August 25, 2016, 11:12:13 PM +0100 Season 30 Works Trophy – Round 5 – Mosport
For Round 5 we are back to more traditional 60’s tracks for the Canadian GP at Mosport. Mainly fast turns, other than the devilish Moss corner. Race List = iGOR Server = UKGPL_9 IP = see iGOR Race date = Sunday 28-08-16 Time = 21:00 UK time (21:00 GMT) Track = Papyrus Race length = 36 1aps (50 minutes) Variant = 1967 60fps patch used = 60fpsV2newmod Damage Model = Pro Qualifying time = 30 minutes Replays Available Driver lists can be found at the Works Trophy Page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=548&theme=6) HANDICAPPING The tokens system remains for all drivers. In the interest of having a competitive championship the faster drivers are requested to voluntarily select car that suits your ability. If you are consistently qualifying at the front of the grid, finishing on the podium & recording fastest lap then you should be not be taking a faster car. The championship will be reviewed after Race 3. Drivers may then be allocated to one of the following handicap groups Group 1 BRM, Honda, or Cooper, Group 2 as above + Brabham Group 3 as above + Ferrari Results from the first three races have been rather mixed & Round 4 was cancelled so no handicap will apply for Round 5. Until the number of registered drivers exceeds grid capacity drivers may join the server as soon as it appears in IGOR. Drivers are required to complete 50% distance to score points. There is no Red Zone for this series, moderating will be on reported incidents only. Please remember that an additional 1 place penalty is awarded for Lap 1 incidents. Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line. Might be a delay getting started tonight. Switched my PC on at 8.35 & it is going through a masive Windows update. If anyone else on the mod team has remote acces to UKGPL9 they are welcome to start the race. Otherwise I will do what I can. Set a green whale PR in my last lap of quali. Racesetup was basically more fuel and 1% more brakebias. Thought the springrates were enough. Had a good start leading, but pushed too much on Lap 1 towards Moss, bottoming out on racefuel and low tirepressures. As said, had a stiff setup, but should have been more conservative. Had too much suspension damage and spun out again, car was too bent...had to retire :/ Happily took no one out. Think Andi also bottomed out. Sorry guys, could have been a good fight at the front...hope you have a good race all! :) Title: Re: UKGPL Season 30 (2016) Works Trophy (67) - Mosport - Aug 28 Post by: AnGex on August 28, 2016, 10:41:38 PM +0100 Some1 can tell me where I have the replay-file to send?

Nice qualifying time Rob. I needed a radical 3rd gear to get a new pb too. It took a lot of work to gain .1 seconds and secure pole position. What a shame Rob after getting the early lead with a little space to work with behind you. I was ready for a long battle if so needed. I figured I could stay with you without a great deal of trouble since I had a much easier to drive car. Once you spun off, it was an exercise in consistency for me for the first 30 minutes. Andreas tested my luck or wanted to make sure I was awake? I topped the final hill on the backstraight at approximately 170mph to find Andreas on the racing line doing 50mph. Yikes! I managed to avoid a catastrophic collision but it was impossible to make the turn. I slid off and hit the wall hard. Surprisingly it wasn't the end of my race. I caught Andreas again on lap 34. I was looking for a personal best with a fast sector time showing. I tried not to slow much and clipped the curb spinning off again. I can't fault Andreas on that one. Luckily the car finished without much trouble. It was great getting the hat trick. Where better to do it than Canada? :) The 71 Can Ams conditioned me to this track rather well. Thanks guys. I hope we have more drivers next time. Title: Re: UKGPL Season 30 (2016) Works Trophy (67) - Mosport - Aug 28 Post by: DLogan on August 29, 2016, 06:19:56 AM +0100 Combination of still too hot for comfort here, and Win10 losing my FFB settings leading to an extremely numb front end (which I haven't been able to sort back out yet, as it's too hot for practice even) led to an anything but memorable race for me. Seven serious offs, three causing damage, and a couple more minor oopsies. I almost bailed after 3 laps, then again at the half-way mark. Looking at results, I should have taken the second option (and saved the indignity of being lapped for the first time in a long while), but with so many dropouts, I held on, hoping forlornly for a chance at a podium.
...Andreas tested my luck or wanted to make sure I was awake? I topped the final hill... With a 30+ second gap to second place (who definitely wasn't gaining), right past the plainly visible yellow flag, and aimed right at the exact spot anyone rejoining from an off would be... just sayin'. ::) Title: Re: UKGPL Season 30 (2016) Works Trophy (67) - Mosport - Aug 28 Post by: Robert Fleurke on August 29, 2016, 06:22:39 AM +0100 Excellent drive and win Greg. Very respectable times buddie! Would have been tough for sure to hold you off, but we'll never know. Figured trying to create an early gap and then maybe managing gap and tires...pushing on Lap 1 was my downfall... Also grats to Jonny and Doni! :)
At the start didn't realize it was a 3x2 tight grid. Ronnie must have had a heart attack when I took the racing line :o Title: Re: UKGPL Season 30 (2016) Works Trophy (67) - Mosport - Aug 28 Post by: Ronniepeterson on August 29, 2016, 02:41:28 PM +0100 At the start didn't realize it was a 3x2 tight grid. Ronnie must have had a heart attack when I took the racing line :o Even though I expected it Robert I still held my breath and hoped there was no contact. As for my race it was the same as the last three races :'( Thats four discos in a row for me, both Riverside races, Estoril and now Mosport :'( Title: Re: UKGPL Season 30 (2016) Works Trophy (67) - Mosport - Aug 28 Post by: AnGex on August 30, 2016, 09:55:41 AM +0100 ... Had not thinking about it before the race. Grats GT, you was good/fast today :P ...& Grats Jonny & Doni :thumbup1: Qual: Used to much time on race setup. Race: Close grid ;D ...but it was exciting down to T1, a little too exciting...I would not crash & took the safe way...on grass :D ...unfortunately the result was now at the back :( In the struggle to get up again, I'm behind Doni & Jonny...after the hole, I really do not know why, but when we step on the accelerator, Doni seems like he brakes (he does not) but regardless I release the accelerator...I affecting Doni behind & Doni spins around...BIG Sry. :-[ Finally...Jonny offers space, Thx ... & I can now take up the fight for GT, which unfortunately has got a good head start. A shock when my engine just die...no explosion...just die & here was quite quiet...race finish :'( Title: Re: UKGPL Season 30 (2016) Works Trophy (67) - Mosport - Aug 28 Post by: Doni Yourth on September 04, 2016, 03:44:01 PM +0100 Fine win, Greg! :) No way could I have matched your pace! I feel lucky to have walked away with a P3 given all the dramas.
Nice job by ol' bud, Jonny, to take P2. Well done, amigo. :) Some really bad luck for some of runners with retirements. :( I got a good start and looked set to dive into P3 for T1 but decided to lift a bit early to avoid sliding wide and high over the crest. A good thing I did that, too, as Ray sliced down on me from the left side of the roadway like a guillotine blade! YIKES! Talk about a close shave! LOL! I could see Greg disappearing up the road in the lead and looked to pressurize Jonny and Ray closely hoping for a gap to pass. A tiny tap from Pelle had me spin in T5B and lose touch regaining the road just in front of Dean. I promptly threw it off the road at the top of the straight. Groan... More lapses had me off in T8(again)and T3 so with not even 10 laps on the board, I was miles behind. Finally settled down and drove hard without major dramas to the finish. Only with the retirements and a few offs from others did I manage to advance to what has to be a gift P3. Lucky boy!
