Title: UKGPL Season 30 (2016) Formula Two Trophy - Keimola - Sep 27 Post by: Rainier on September 24, 2016, 03:33:22 PM +0100 UKGPL SEASON 30 F2 CHAMPIONSHIP – Round 7 : Keimola
The Keimola Motor Stadium was a dedicated race track located in Vantaa, Finland. It was founded by Finnish racing driver Curt Lincoln after the closure of the Eläintarha track in 1963. Construction started in 1965 and the track was opened on 12 June 1966. So we can't claim absolute historical accuracy here but the 65 cars (and formula II) are well suited to this twisty, tricky track. It was 3.3 km (2.1 mi) long, consisting of eight turns and a 1 km (0.62 mi) home straight. Multiple racing series, including Formula Two, Formula Vee and Interserie, raced on the track during the years it was used but after many years of financial difficulties, the track was abandoned in late 1978. Drivers will have a free car choice BUT Each car can be driven only once in this season!

Title: Re: UKGPL Season 30 (2016) Formula Two Trophy - Keimola - Sep 27 Post by: EvilClive on September 27, 2016, 09:51:08 PM +0100 arrived late for qually.....no setup.....tried default and guessed what I could change before I put the car on the grid in last place.
got caught up in the start line mess.......set off after the pack and gradually worked out how to drive the random setup....passed a few cars and after about 10 laps was up to 3rd and closing on 2nd spot..........then screen freeze in T1...........................just a tad miffed!!!! :taz: :cursing: Title: Re: UKGPL Season 30 (2016) Formula Two Trophy - Keimola - Sep 27 Post by: Ronniepeterson on September 27, 2016, 10:20:11 PM +0100 I'm not blaming myself or anyone else for the start. Here was me thinking well at least the F2 series has not been ruined this season unlike every other series. But no! Another poxy grid which in effect ended my race before it started. These things happen but come on get the grid spacing fixed. Three wide, really! What is the point of qualifying if we end up side by side and boxed in front and back! Rant over but I hope this gets sorted for the next race. Grats again Tris, Carlos and Axel.

Congrats to Trist, Carlos and Axle. Title: Re: UKGPL Season 30 (2016) Formula Two Trophy - Keimola - Sep 27 Post by: Cookie on September 27, 2016, 10:26:13 PM +0100 My fault Ray, I got the bill in T1...
Sometimes I forget to control the grid of a track not so often used ::) Now its done... ;) Title: Re: UKGPL Season 30 (2016) Formula Two Trophy - Keimola - Sep 27 Post by: DLogan on September 27, 2016, 10:47:50 PM +0100 I'm not blaming myself or anyone else for the start... Then I will, I guess. I feel justified, too, as the one eating dirt in the infield in last place, and starting lap three nearly 40 seconds back, because someone can't drive in a straight line. I agree about the grid, tho. It may have obviated your incompetence tonight. :thumbup1: Title: Re: UKGPL Season 30 (2016) Formula Two Trophy - Keimola - Sep 27 Post by: Cookie on September 27, 2016, 11:12:17 PM +0100 I agree about the grid, tho. It may have obviated your incompetence tonight. :thumbup1: Now after an extra hour of administrative tasks after the race, I offer my job to you, as you seem to never make mistakes :P PS For me it's funny that experienced drivers can not handle such a situation. When I see what happened: :o a narrow grid, I turn into safety mode and do not risk much... Title: Re: UKGPL Season 30 (2016) Formula Two Trophy - Keimola - Sep 27 Post by: roo on September 28, 2016, 07:34:33 AM +0100 What a mess off the line
I saw the grid line up 3 wide & thought T1 would be a mess so was prepared to hang back & try to avoid the carnage. I slowed to try to avoid the cars ahead but probably was too cautious & got rear ended. But that was about the only action I saw after my reset (+ another) got me lapped. Contemplating retirement again after so many messy races & the perpetual connection problems currently. Although my connection seems pretty stable here at ukgpl... ? grats podium, thnx admins :) Title: Re: UKGPL Season 30 (2016) Formula Two Trophy - Keimola - Sep 27 Post by: Jani Posta on September 28, 2016, 07:45:42 AM +0100 Woohoo! Finally a race where I could actually start! :D
I had a decent qual lap, and I was in P4 from P9 by Turn 2. A few laps later I gained one more position when Carlos went off the track, but from that point it was definitely a downward spiral for me. Loosing out on P6 in the very last corners is not what I dream of :D Thanks all for the race. F2 cars fit the track well, it was pretty fun. Sorry again for the contact, Sam. Congrats to the winner and podium! Thanks for the administration! Without you, UKGPL could disappeared :-\ I am totally pro narrow grids as it was in the real 60's or 70s races. It's up to the drivers to adapt their way of racing and to take clean starts. Yes, thanks to Axel (and Jethro for that matter) for supplying the server plus all the admin and editing work. Without you guys we would be nowhere ;) In all fairness, I believe Dean aimed at Ronnie (Ray)... Title: Re: UKGPL Season 30 (2016) Formula Two Trophy - Keimola - Sep 27 Post by: MagicArsouille on September 28, 2016, 12:56:53 PM +0100 :) hi !
Choise of chassi become difficult , the Cooper is not so bad and permit to do sub 1.18.00....the pôle position was hard to get, at 5mn of the end of the session, we was ( Axel, Carlos and me ) whith the same time of 1.17.91 !!...2mn to go, I get the pôle whith 1.17.806.....but Axel do better in his last lap whith 1.17.518 !! well done mate !.... Of course, surprising when I see that I am in sandwitch betwin Axel and Carlos at start !!...the only way for me is to do a rocket start and happyly I do :)...after T1 I see on Prib that something append in that turn....that 's let me some air in front but I know some guys behind who are not sleeping so I try to escape from them..but it was not possible ...after Axel mistake, Carlos is very quick and I push to stay ahead....but sudenly I have 10s advance...cool !!:)....no mistake....stay focus....keep cool !!!!!.....but when I look to the fuel, I réalise that at this rythme, I will be out of fuel before finish !!??....so Ihave to slow down at 13 laps from the end !!....and Carlos is only 10s behind !....no time to do shift-r and S&G.... :'(.....I cross fingers....drive as slow as I can....be smooth on the trottle, but my advance is like snow under the sun :/......fortunatly, I can manage this problem till the end whith 1.8s ahead of Carlos who done a solid race and he will surely win whith out his mistake !...I finish whitn 1/3 of a liter on tank !!....one more lap I was dead ! :-\ thx all for racing Special thank to Axel for the exellent job done ;) cua in Montlery .....:) Title: Re: UKGPL Season 30 (2016) Formula Two Trophy - Keimola - Sep 27 Post by: Ronniepeterson on September 28, 2016, 05:08:05 PM +0100 I'm not blaming myself or anyone else for the start... Dean, whether you think I drove into you or the mods think you drove into me I will leave up to you and them, I'm not interested in the slightest in getting anyone including myself penalised for something which was bound to happen. I understand and fully appreciate the work of Axel and all the admin/mods who keep this wonderful beast going. No offence was intended on the work and more importantly time you guys all put in on our behalf. It was a post race rant and from my point of view a justified rant. The incident report is all yours I have moved on. Grats again to Tris, Carlos and Axel and see you all at the next one. Title: Re: UKGPL Season 30 (2016) Formula Two Trophy - Keimola - Sep 27 Post by: Ronniepeterson on November 10, 2016, 04:57:24 PM +0000 moderation posted Sorry Doni totally my fault. Being keen to scupper any chance of winning this series I deliberately made sure the grid was three wide and the cars positioned bumper to bumper as I am really keen on the authenticity of the grids we use. Apologies to anyone else who got caught up in this because of me. Obviously I am just glad Iestyn did not choose to turn up for this one as I would not have wanted to affect his late championship challenge to follow. I will try and do better next time. Also I thought the moderation was a bit harsh on Clive as this all only happened because of my bad start. Sorry again all. |
