Just popped some laps in, must say Donington looks stunning in this latest version. 8) Kunos should sign that guy up! I've done track days here and it looks very real in comparison.
Loving my new triples setup, it's like being in a real car  :tt1: I thoroughly recommend them.

1:30 so far  :)

Edit server is set to cloudy but I thought it looked spot on for Donington. Do a few laps and see for yourself, don't think it's ever been sunny when I've been there  :D

After not only changing the windows brightness and contrast settings and the graphics in game, namley the bright PP and the color saturation slider in AC, Pete then told me there was a key in game that would change it as well. When i did that it told me it was at 85% brightness! Why its dark by default i dunno.

Just going to try the combo out now

EDIT: looks like pageup and pagedown change the 'picture exposure' which isnt your drivng view. I guess for doing screenshots. Will have to resort to running the PP settings.

Anyone know why some laps on the stracker are more detailed than others, for example some show the fuel loads? Just put in a few laps, but it misses some info for my laps.

Anyway i think its gonna be really hard to keep it on the track, i clip a lot of the kerbs wrong here which usually send me across the grass

Nah, I still need some practice in those GT2 cars :D
But it was also fun battling for positions in the middle of the pack at Spielberg.

Heh, it was close, now its only close between Maikel and NFS

Spanner is looking to be best of the rest, and I'm not almost 1.2s off the pace  :P Should be able to find a little bit of time with tyres/fuel/TC.

Also, I can't get over how well made this track is, its brilliant. Track texture looks great, aswell as the kerbs are bits of dirt at the apexes, obviously a lot of effort gone into this. Love seeing the planes overhead too  :D

Loved the Corvette last outing. These cars feel very racey indeed, good fun!

I agree about the track, looks and feels really splendid. I raced on it a couple of times in Project Cars but this feels way better ( prob also because PC 's physics are nowhere as good as AC )  ;D

I'm really enjoying these GT2 cars, probably even more then the GT3's. Though I had a little go with the 488 and that thing is pretty insane. A good rival for the McLaren.  8)

Lol was determined to be higher up the board than I was! Ended up driving it a bit differently which helped, was trying to get on the power and slide it through the corners which wasn't going to last a race. Really struggling in the last two corners, just wont turn in, and having to use max TC to control the exit, cant work out what to do.

I'm loving this track also and the Fezza seems to love the fast flowing corners.

The author of this track has done a bit of a historical mix but using the latest layout but included some of the old features like the bridge and the gantry on the start finish line. It's such a good Verizon that I wish he would make it modern.

I've got a real track day here on the 31st so this race will be a good warm up :)

I drove there for the first time this time last year and loved the track. It was the wettest track day I have done which was good for me as I prefer wet track days but there were a few red flags due to it being too wet at times. I know what you mean about the decent into Craner curves, on the sighting laps it was like oh wow, this is crazy lol So looking forward to the 31st.

LOL to all of you!

On softs and race fuel I was about 0.5 seconds behind that. Super softs last 3 laps (just) before overheating. So you get one out lap one proper lap and maybe another if you've cocked up the first lap and slow down enough to get the tyres back in the green.

I'll have probably lost all rhythm tonight when I turn up with 5 mins of qually left!

Pah! Why is it always the tracks I most look forward too often end up being my worst?  ::) I had high hopes for tonight but got nowhere  :(

A manic day and tiredness didn't set me up too well and took me most of qually to get up to speed where I briefly held 4th until the dying seconds.

Race start was the usual scenario where I get pounced on by a couple of cars from behind. I got to t1 on the inside with a vette alongside but I'm sorry to say that when I tried to turn in, the car just understeered across the full width of track onto the left side gravel where I joined at least 3 other cars who I assumed did the same  :-[ :o. Not sure if I or anyone else had contact?
So now I'm near the back but hopeful of moving up the grid, but I think I only got a sweet window of about 4 laps where I could set low 1:30/high 1:29's before I started to drop time like crazy  ??? It was getting ridiculous seeing my times being 1-1.5 secs a lap slower and I got mugged 3 times at that horrible hairpin as the car had awful front end low-speed understeer on the worn mediums  >:(. Wish I'd taken a punt on softs now.
Must say I had a few good chases and a brilliant battle with Linus' f458 for the last few laps, it was a great fun end to a dismal race for me, proper racing  8)

Congrats to Maikel on a fine win and well done to Simon and Nsfw on the podium  8)

I had a good quali getting in the 27's. I was hoping for a bit of a battle with a few other cars in the race, but seeing 5 cars going wide in T1 I knew that wasn't really going to happen then.
A few minor mistakes but nothing out of the ordinary.

Don't know what everyone has against those poor mediums, I like them  8)
They last almost the entire race instead of half like the softs.

Well, what an amazing race. I am officially crap at qualifying but then again, apart from Monaco, I always have been so qualified 9th out of 10. Made another amazing start and by the exit of turn 1 found myself in 3rd. Had an epic battle for many laps chasing Mark E in his Corvette and was actually fighting for second. However, like Hockenheim, the German Panzer tanks closed in and lost a couple of places to Simon and Gary. Gary then made a mistake and I had an awesome race chasing him for many laps but I then ran wide on the exit of old hairpin and dropped to 7. Closed back up on the three in front but couldn't get past and then had a great last lap battle holding back Mark J.

So started 9th,now as fighting for 2nd and finished 9th. I think at some point during the race, I actually raced everyone lol

Nope, no understeer here, just got pushed off the track by another car. From there it was just a case of trying to get 2nd back and Maikel was too far up the road by the time that happened to have a fight with my slightly nobbled car and worn out softs.

Good win Maikel. I was looking forward to trying to give you a hard time, but I suspect even if I had got away in second you would have been too quick over the whole race.

Had a difficult Qualifying with P4 and a really bad race start, got a big hit from behind in turn 1 and found myself back in the gravel trap. Rejoined the race in last position and with damage to the back and the right side. After that I fought my way back to P3 and had some nice battles for positions with Mark and Michael.
Therefore it was still a nice race, congratulations to Maikel and Simon, very good pace from both of you.

I must admit, I'm struggling to remember the details of who and when I was with on track, but it was a fun and tense race throughout - if not a bit scruffy on my part.

A little disappointed with quali, as I just couldn't improve on my race fuel runs on the soft tyre, so started a bit lower than I was hoping at P6.

Race start was average - All I wanted to do was make sure I made no contact! I succeeded with that at least on Lap 1, and as I'd predicted the run down the hill was a bit lairy with everyone so close!

After Lap 1 i was in P4! But I felt quicker than the two ahead but was struggling to get passed either Boylan or Ekins. Then Simon caught up and I'd contemplated letting him passed since I knew he was definitely quicker than me - but no longer had I thought that had he passed me anyway.

I made a bit of a mistake soon after by trying to stay close and ended up tagging him at the last hairpin and off he went. I decided it was only fair to give the place back - which I did that lap. When Simon caught and passed Boylan and Ekins, I managed to aswell! The plan worked :D

Then just as I was thinking to myself on about lap 12 that I might be in for another podium, I went scooting accross the grass into the barrier just passed the old hairpin!  :o Felt so stupid, but managed to only lose 1 place (to Nfsw55).

After that the car was utter bollocks to keep on track! It was my own fault, but I made it bloody hard for myself for the second half

I then had Boylan and Ekins really putting me under pressure, sorry for any unpredictable lines - I really was struggling to keep it on track. I had no front downforce, and was understeering on every corner - the fast ones and even the slow hairpins. Was a hard fight, and made a couple of touches trying to keep my position, and on the last lap I had Peter on my bumper too!

I'd have liked to have not binned it and kept my 3rd position, but it was definitely much more interesting and exciting race for me because of it!

On to Zandvoort for the finale!  ;D Can't wait.

Oh, by the way, congratulations Maikel!  ;D You've mathematically won the Championship  :P

And I've managed to get up to 5th in the standings (I know, plenty of faster drivers have dropped out or only completeed some of the races... but still  ;D) If I can keep 5th I'll be very very happy, though its close with 3 other drivers within 10 points of me.

I'll take you out for the final round Jeff, was hoping you might change your mind.

If the racing is anything last night it'll be out of my hands if I can keep 2nd place anyway. Seems I have a target on my car, again I got hit from behind at the first corner and then one of those who fell off ahead of me took 2 laps to catch up and decided my car was a good way to slow his down.

Pretty disillusioned with some of the driving standards recently. One car I followed for a while went wide at the old hairpin lap after lap, possibly the only way he could keep his chaser from passing (not me). I saw a car completely cock up his braking and get sideways, get on the grass and then hit the car in front to gain position, which they kept.

I could do moderation for this series, as I have no part anyway. I only forgot how everything works, and I'll need to reinstall the game :p

I didn't see any contacts last night and if nobody reports one how the heck are we supposed to know about or moderate it? So only got yourselves to blame if repeated contacts are going un-checked.
However it would help greatly if someone can act as moderator as I'm just too snowed under at the moment.

Jeff, why did you uninstall AC? Seems a bit drastic for a downshift glitch  :-\

I guess I just don't get on with this track. Time wise I was happy with my qually time but ended up near the back. But pretty much for the first half of the race it was like id forgotten how to drive, where to brake and the car felt quite twitchy and nervous at times. Can only think it was after doing plenty of lonely laps you find yourself scared of what everyone else is going to do!

So after the best first corner ever where I go from 7th? to 2nd I realised i had no confidence at all and wasn't going to really fight anyone as they came through. However i ended up messing up the hairpin and letting 3 or 4 through. I was having to brake quite early and still could only just make the corner, didn't help with people braking later and loking up the inside!

Managed to recover and see Mark behind me but i managed to settle down a bit. Seems to remember racing Michael and Gary a bit who seemed to be driving the RallyX config by avoiding the tarmac on the exit of the old hairpin. I do remember towards the end Gary was coming back through and i had Pete behind me but thought i could manage it until a rather ambitious move at the hairpin let Gary and Pete through.

The track really wasn't good for me as i never really felt comfortable with little grip hurting me in the slow corners and the faster ones! Hopefully the next track will be better!

It has been noticeable the increasing comments about driving standards from all events here.

Ptracker is really useful for moderating incidents. You can go to the race sessions and it shows you how many and in what lap any contacts were made.

I looked through the replay and there were a couple of Rosberg moves going on  ;D

Another thing that struck me last night is that these gt2's seem to create even closer racing than the gt3 class, which is a surprise. For most of the races in this series it's always felt that there were several cars around you could chase or battle with and last night about 4 of us were pretty much on the same stretch of Tarmac upto the finish line. Shame there aren't more cars to choose from.

The last few reports I did just disappeared into the ether so I assumed they were just not being monitored anymore.

I'm not sure its the cars, you only have to look at our practise times prior to the event on stracker. we are all close in performance anyway so there will be people of similar pace in the race. Plus with only 3 cars anyway you have to drive them and make them work, rather than finding a car out 7 or 8 that better suits you or choosing a car that doesn't.

Jeff, why did you uninstall AC? Seems a bit drastic for a downshift glitch  :-\

Because almost all cars suffer from it (maybe not the GT3, can't remember), so there isn't a reason for me to let the game installed, as I won't be playing it until that fake stuff is removed.

Don't cars nowadays actually have downshift protection in real life ?

I know the modern day F1 cars have dsp in order to prolonge the gearbox's life. I'm guessing they probably have some sort of dsp for the GT cars aswell.
