Title: UKGPL Season 30 (2016) Privateers Trophy (67) - Reims - Oct 23
Post by: Billy Nobrakes on October 20, 2016, 11:09:28 PM +0100
Season 30 Privateers Trophy – Round 9 –  Reims

The circuit Reims-Gueux was a Grand Prix motor racing road course, located in north-eastern France, established in 1926. The triangular layout of public roads formed three sectors between the villages of Thillois and Gueux over the La Garenne / Gueux intersection of Route nationale 31. The circuit became known to be among the fastest of the era for its two long straights (approximately 2.2 km in length each) allowing maximum straight-line speed, resulting in many famous slipstream battles.

As we head to the penultimate race of the season the championship is headed by Philippe Girard, although after dropped scores are accounted for David Rainier has a chance.

HANDICAPPING
The tokens system remains for all drivers.
In the interest of having a competitive championship the faster drivers are requested to voluntarily select car that suits your ability, from Race 1. If you are consistently qualifying at the front of the grid,  finishing on the podium & recording fastest lap then you should be not be taking a faster car.
The championship will be reviewed after Race 3. Drivers may then be allocated to one of the following handicap groups
Group 1 BRM, Honda, or Cooper.
Group 2 as above + Brabham
Group 3 as above + Ferrari
For Round 8 the following handicap applies
David Rainier, Jani Posta & Philippe Girard – Group 3.

Drivers are permitted one Reset / Shift R per race, followed by a compulsory Stop & Go within two laps. If you take your reset on the last lap 15 seconds will be added to your time. A second Shift R will result in Disqualification unless it is the direct result of the first incident e.g. hit when respawning.
If you are the first car entering the pit lane to take your SnG aim to bring the car to a halt alongside the last pit stall - closest to the exit. As soon as your car is stationary you can go. You won't be penalised if you stop a little short or beyond the pit stall.
In the event that more than one car takes a SnG at the same time the following cars can perform their Stop & Go in line.
No overtaking in the pit lane.

Until the number of registered drivers exceeds grid capacity drivers may join the server as soon as it appears in IGOR.

Drivers are required to complete 50% distance to score points.

There is no Red Zone for this series, moderating will be on reported incidents only. Please remember that an additional 1 place penalty is awarded for Lap 1 incidents.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

Password: see above

I've just realized that this is going to overlap with the F1 race in Texas. Any chance we can delay start for 15-30 minutes so we can see the end of the race?

Personally, I would rather not delay it.  2100 is plenty late enough for me.

Agree.
Why don't you use HDD or video recorder, Syd and Fran ?
...and modern F1 is so boring  :(

Boring or no, if it's not over by the start time here, I will be missing the race.

Same here.

Although, would be good if Bernie  (the other one!) could check with arm/office-chair racers before committing us to a large chunk of Sunday evening...

Hopefully see you all later!

Cheers,
Dave.

US GP will start at 20:00 UK time.
If no rain and no race interrupted, it should end at 21:35-21h40
I will have no remarks if the start of Privateers race is delayed for 15 minutes.

Damn,i forgot to apply my setup. All the race without speed, max speed 290km/h and from lap 15 my PC,or GPL,have stopped to produce sound.
Is like a freeze,is not possible to exit the game without a reset of the PC.

May not be the same for you, but in the past I've had something similar  [probably due to some background program making GPL lose focus] although the steering still works ok - but with no sound/non-responsive keyboard.  Clicking a mouse button [without crashing the car!] then brought sound back etc.

Cheers,
Dave.

Made it at last moment of the delayed start.
I started in 8th with no time. I had a great start, and overtook a few cars at the start. Unfortunately, at the hairpin an eagle made a mistake and was going very slow, I slowed down to avoid hitting him, but got hit from behind and stuck in the fence. After a reset and SnG I was last 30 seconds behind the next car. I worked my way back, and with about 4 laps to go caught up to second and third cars which were running very close the whole race. I got by the brabham easily in my honda, and I had a drag race down to T1 with the eagle, but couldn't quite pull ahead. I decided to stay behind and try again. But that was my first time this close behind Billy, and he broke much earlier then I expected for t2, and I had to take to the field to avoid hitting him. After that I just had to bring it to the finish into what felt a very unsatisfactory 4th place, especially as I got FL as well, and could see on pribluda that I wasn't falling behind the leader, and even made a few seconds back during the race.
Still, grats to the podium, you kept it on the black.

After a good start (up to P3 unexpectedly)  a blown Lotus engine and  a visit to a haybale left me stranded and cursing track designers who use hay bales rather than metal barriers.

Had a good drive, shifted early and cautious, lifted on the bumps, engine went up to 96 degree celsius
and I was really afraid to blow the engine. had a spin with 3 laps to go in the hairpin, slight contact but no problem.

Grats to all finishers

Probably my best 67 race this season - but I did have the benefit of the Eagle. Syd & David R clocked some impressive times in other cars. I could not compete with Bastian but had a battle with David R for most of the race. Was mightily surprised to see Syd's Honda appear very large in my mirrors, maybe I got distracted & braked a tad early which & caught him out. It was not intentional. I made my only mistake the whole race, at the hairpin 2 turns later which let DR into 2nd place. With a few more laps I might have caught up, but overall happy with 3rd.

I could only afford the Honda, but it's great here, touching 200mph on the long straight.  I watched Bernie go off and somehow seemed to get dragged off too! Fortunately, didn't hit anything and managed to carry on to finish 5th.  Broke my PB during the race.

If the mouse trick works, there seems to be another program to catch the focus in background!

You should stop all background programs when running Grand Prix Legends, afaik those preinstalled pc's have a lot of junk preinstalled like Norton...
In my Autostart is nothing but AntiVir, Sound and Graphics driver!

A little helper to control the software running is CCleaner (https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download)

Go to Extras - Autostart and deaktivate all others!
