Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see
cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.

rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Race Room Racing Experience from Steam, and have the Euro and American Track Packs for this series (And maybe another
non pack track occasionally)
(4) Please exercise caution when pitting as some tracks have a speed limit.

(5) Please follow the SROUK guidelines for using kerbs etc. Please keep 2 wheels on the track surface (kerbs do not count as track surface)
Excessive cutting of corners will seen as cheating and the results may be altered to reflect this.

Raceroom doesn't have the Mullenbach layout unfortunately (I remember that one from GTL) so I've set the server to nurb short which is the one with the quicker chicane.

Raceroom also have the same track layout picture for the short and sprint circuits. Be sure to practice on the right layout.

I missed sim racing, so I'm gonna give RR3 another go.

Love these slow cars, but I'm probaly even slower than before due to my lack of practice.

But don't worry, I'll make sure I stay out of everybodys way  ;D

Stuck in LOndon again..... I tested the layout for this, not sure of the name, but it looked a bit like
the mullenbach one. Thanks Tudor

The in game images of the track map may look similar but they are actually different. The only difference being the "Short" layout has the less tight chicane and is the one running on the server atm.

Massive update this time round so make sure you get it done before thursday night! Mines 6.5gig

Looks like it will. I checked the lobby and couldn't see our server so went to try and restart it and couldn't  ???

I have decent net connection this week, but I can't run RRE to test layouts, the short layout sounds reasonable
so that's what we will use, thanks for sorting that.

I do hope the 503 errors have gone by tomorrow. I've been very lucky, up till now, no update has ever done this to me.

I think it's just the usual bumfight after an update  ::) I predict a return to normality once the shine has worn off.....2 or 3 days?

Ok Sector 3 are aware of the 503 errors and are trying to fix it! figures crossed i fixed by tomorrow

Glad to have found a league running R3E.

I have a few years experience with rF1 and 2 and have done a few races with R3E at R2P but nothing to shout about.

All things being equal I would like to join you guys tonight for this event.  I am having an apalling year with my sim racing so these cars are ideal for me at the moment.

If there is an issue that I am not allowed to race, no problems, short notice and all.

I am in SA so I believe an hour ahead of you if you are on BST.

Welcome Chris, glad to have you with us. Only a small turnout for these but most have a good time. Any questions just shout.

Hi Chris and welcome to our league. We run Raceroom events every Thursday and Sunday and would be glad to have you racing with us. We've had another fella race with us from SA and we experienced a few problems with him lagging but it seemed to improve. We'll keep a look out when you join us and let you know if there are any problems.

Raceroom still seems to be suffering from issues after the recent update so hopefully it won't affect our race this evening.

Welcome Chris, more the merrier. Not sure on the time difference but we're actually on GMT now (clocks changed a couple of week ago). Alexa (blush) tells me the time Johannesburg is 5:10 pm, it's 3:10 here now. However I'm not sure I totally believe anything she tells me so best to double check. Better to be an hour early (equals lots of practice) rather than an hour late (no race at all)

R3E has updated again, 50.7mb.

Is this just with our server or more generally?

I'm getting error 503 for single player and error 502 for multiplayer. Looks like tonight is a no go  :'(

It's a general issue. The loading takes twice as long as usual, and sometimes I never get ant further than the loading screen. When I do get to the next step, it doesn't matter which option I choose, I still end up with error 503. Actually I removed the game completely and did a fresh DL / install, but didn't help either.

Am I the only one, who can't get it running?

Can't say I've tried until just now and I've got in and I'm on the server. Fingers crossed the rest of you can join as well now in or for the real event.

Just joined and the menus are really slow but got in eventually.

I gave up trying to get RRE to run. Sorry to have missed the race.  :'(

Great racing last night  8) Our new member Kit was quick and clean and showed no signs of lag or any other issues......a real pleasure racing with you sir!

Got off to a bad start and lost places and took me until mid race to recover. Had some great battles along the way and looked like there was a lot of close racing behind too.

Shame you gave up Tony, seemed to work first time every time for me but I know Chris had an error the 1st time he tried.

At the start of the race Spanner moaned I blinked in and out so I dropped to the back to save any silly accidents that might cause. I then saw Spanner and Chris do likewise once or twice although bizarrely the cars further up the road didn't. I was downloading some scenery for my flight sim at the time, not that clever, but it was at worst only using 10% of my bandwidth. RRE issue or me downloading, guess we'll see at future races.

Having dropped to the back I chased after Spanner and keeping up wasn't easy but he never quite got away. Then a few small errors and I was on his tail. We had a couple of epic battles where we were side by side for several corners. Frex then had his own issues and dropped back in to our little fight. That gave me the chance to make a break, aided by seeing Spanner in the rear view mirror on 2 wheels for what seemed like 10 seconds  8) I thought Russ Swift had come to race  ;D

Good first race Chris :) Well done everyone who persevered with RRE's errors and got on the server.

Wow, I've had a bit of an epiphany with RRE.. Read this in yesterday's patch notes:

Fixed the excessive damage when using H-Box shifting with manual clutch

Now I'm not sure if they just mean they have fixed a bug introduced with Tuesday's mega update, or whether this is just a continuation of ongoing work, but anyway decided to test H-shift and manual clutch again and for the first time (for me) it works properly without breaking the transmission. And even better than that, in checking my pedal setup I realised that I've somehow had my brake pedal set like an on/off switch.. Not sure why, or how long it's been like that, but messing with deadzones and sensitivity has transformed my feel for the car, and I can now properly modulate the brake pedal - RRE is great again!

As for the race, I too had some fun moments, but my improvements did not stop me driving GT off the road at the last corner I think (sorry), and also had a clumsy coming together with Chris at T1 (sorry again). So we also tested the new collision physics where cars go non-solid after going off-track - I was bracing for a big accident, but.. ..nothing!

Anyway, great fun; congrats podium.

Apologies for the confusion at T1 there Frex, I had lost sight of you and thought I had left enough room for you only to see you bounce off me and go off track which put paid to our great little dice we were having. You would have overtaken me and left me on that lap I thought so it saved me somewhat.  Morris slowed down to titillate me I think but I could not catch him.

Our internet over here is not quite to the standard of your chaps so I hope I did not cause any issues for anybody.  I am on a fast package but one never knows and we also had a storm at the time of the race so I was a bit concerned.

Anyway, thanks for the fun.  I hope to catch you guys again on Sunday and I see you still race GTL which I have never raced so look forward to that too.
