Hmm... I don't have the right mindset with the road cars on semi slicks, the edge is a lot lower than with the proper race cars and ends up being less about driving by feel and more meeting the braking and turn in points as I cant lean on the front.

BMW feels heavy and massive understeer!, lotus feels better for me as it actually handles! Porsche definitely feels like it could be quick as its eager to turn in but timing coming back on the power is difficult as it then understeers!

We have to at some point have a race or mini chamiponship with the old 250 maseratis.... Holy hell they are so rewarding to drive.

Not actually tried the old 250f yet nor any of the drift type racers in AC yet but must do so as I find catching a slide in AC so much more realistic than any previous sim likewise the feel through the steering generally  :)

That's the fun of this combo  :D. The Porsche is probably the fastest, but I think the trickiest to drive, the M4 is loads of drift fun and probably the slowest by a bit and the Lotus is a nice handling car. M4 without TC, chuck it in and look through the side window as you exit the corner, kinda reminds me of the good old GTL times in the Falcon  ;D

That's exactly how I am finding the cars. The Porsche is fun but the Lotus is just beautiful.

Not on the SRou server. Best I can do is low 39, so the porsche is clearly the fastest for me, but should be a nice challenge,  as long as the fastest don't take that car.

Tried to go on the sever, but got kicked, guess the DLC also comes with a patch...nudge nudge  ;D

EDIT: The M4 received v10 tyres, dunno if that includes the Akrapovic, but hope it doesn't change it too much.

Doing some testing again tonight and it seems the new Cayman GT4 would be competitive if we wanted to add a 4th car into the mix. Drives very much like the Lotus, quite tame and balanced.

Bit too late for that bad boy plus I'm sure it'll be quickest of the bunch with some practise.

Oh well no server time for me but I'm still on low 1:40 pb offline  :)

The Lotus is a nice little motor, would be another car great for a one make close racing series. Felt quite analog compared to the Carrera.

It would be great to run an Elise S2 mini championship with skins. Something like three or four rounds at shorter tracks, Brands Indy, Silverstone National etc.

The 911 Carrera also received some further updates today, but not sure if it changed anything performance wise.

Btw: Here and at the AC forum it says 50% damage while ingame it's still at 60%

Don't think so, that means there are 8 cars of each type!

Whoops, now sorted. Thanks for pointing it out.

I noticed the setup screens now include ABS/ TC settings and it also added a brake pressure setting, because of course you can do this in car for real lol.

Title: Re: UKAC Season 2 - Brands Hatch Trackday race - Nov 23
Post by: ChrisR on November 23, 2016, 12:23:52 AM +0000
Its more for non abs cars to stop lockups.

In a real car you can feel the brakes, in ac we cant, unless you use a load cell.

They made it work so if you lower the brake pressure you lower thd effectiveness of the brakes, essentially lengthening your brake time in return you dont flatspot your tyres.

Anyone else having problems launching the game? Steam tried to download an update but it then failed and now it keeps delaying the update and won't let me launch the game. I keep getting the error "failed download".

Ah that is a proper kick in the nuts Michael, unlucky mate  :'(  I thought it must be something major for you to miss a lotus race on a uk track  :(

If it's any consolation a Lotus won and came third, Porsches 2nd and 4th.

Cracking race that, I think I was under pressure from start to finish  :o was really hoping to stay 3rd for a home track podium but Ed pressured me for lap after lap and only the Porsche grunt was keeping me just ahead. Then after me warning myself 'keep your eyes on the corners not on Ed in the mirror' - I did just that a lap later at Hawthorns  ::) braking a tad late and taking a wide line on the outer kerb. Ed was gone up the road in a flash!  I was losing out at Druids to the Lotus every lap because of the 991's long gears but at least I could stretch its legs on the straights, nice dice!
My tyres were worn in last few laps and could see Jeffs ugly Beemer a way back but I brought it home a safe 4th   ;D
Nice to have a fairly equal set of cars to race  :)

It was a great race. Hadn't had much time to practise what will all those new cars coming out.  ;D
Decided to go with the Porsche since the Beemer felt like a tank going through corners.

I was even 1st for like, one lap and then I spun out at T1. Managed to sneak back up to Jeffrey's "colourful" M4.
Had some great battles, nice job defending in that thing  ;D
Finally managed to pass him just to spin out the next lap....again  :o
Still got right back up to Jeffrey on the last lap and it was, literally, bumper to bumper over the finish  8)

Yeah totally gutted to have missed this race, especially at my home race in a Lotus :(

Glad a Lotus won though :) Hope we run this group of cars again and maybe look at seeing if the Cayman GT4 or any other car is competitive. Sounds like I missed a cracking race :(

Wow, that was an awesome race.

After Maikel spun(?) while in the lead, the super fast Chris with his Lotus was right on my tail, but I was able to hold him behind the first few laps as I was something like a rolling chicane in the corners but escaped on the straights.

Made a little mistake and Chris was able to slip through but I remained on his tail within 1-2 seconds for most of the laps. Unfortunately I spun out at turn 1 in lap 13 and lost 7 seconds or so.

Didn't expect that the BMW suffered that much from yesterdays patch. but nevertheless great racing with those three very different cars. Not loath to do more races like this in the future.

Well that was fun and annoying at the same time. The tyres really nerfed the BMW hard, and I lost a second a lap. Still sticked with it, as it's still a fun car, but I guess I was the only one that went for the battleship  ::). Had good battles with Ed early on and Maikel rest of the race, but I felt like they were just playing with their food, as I never felt I had the speed to really battle them. All I could do was hold them up  :P.

These kind of cars always make for some great racing, so I wouldn't mind races like these, just need to find the right mix of cars.

Jeffrey's "colourful" M4.

Yes, out of all the plain skins, I got handed that thing  ;D

Had some great battles, nice job defending in that thing  ;D
Finally managed to pass him just to spin out the next lap....again  :o
Still got right back up to Jeffrey on the last lap and it was, literally, bumper to bumper over the finish  8)

Was quite hard defending as I was afraid to understeer into your side at corner entry and whack you off track corner exit with one of the many drift moments  ;D

Thanks. In the short period Maikel and I have raced against eachother, we already had countless amount of this kind of side by side action, so we know how we act under these circumstances  :)

Yeah, we usually end up racing eachother. Biggest difference is usually I end up spinning or standing sideways atleast once and Jeffrey doesn't, so he still wins most of the times.

Best race we had so far imo;

I didn't realise I was racing Chris in early laps, had thought it was Ed! Until he got past. He must have thought I was being a whippersnapper in failing to yield  ;D. It was my home track so wasn't going too! Was gutted to let Ed past late on through my only real error in the race  :'(

Anyone know if the handy psi app has been updated for the Porsche range yet? It just shows an error for me for any of the dlc 1&2 packs
