Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Installed from CanAm link onto my GTL master copy and unfortunately it doesn't work. It doesn't give a CanAm option. Has anybody else tried installing from this link?

Hi Bill,
 If you mean there is no Can-Am Class, that is correct. They are in the GTC-TC76 class. (They will appear in their own class but you have to edit the SIM_GTC.gdb file to add the following class..... "  SIM_CA1967 = Can-Am 1967").

So mine looks like this for example...
Code:
Category
{
  SIM_TC65 = FIA TC-65       // category that can be filtered out using NOT:
  SIM_GTC65 = FIA GTC-65     // category that can be filtered out using NOT:
  SIM_GTC76 = FIA GTC-TC-76  // category that can be filtered out using NOT:
  SIM_CA1967 = Can-Am 1967  // category that can be filtered out using NOT:
}

I think it would have required a similar procedure to the F167 install to be 100% safe to achieve this so they live in with the 76's by default.

John.

Thanks Jeep. It's OK the cars are there. (A note to where the cars are located would have been appreciated as I wasted a fair amount of time looking for separate CamAm option as I think you had on the trial installations.)  I see though how it allows CanAm to be part of the Season 17 Series with a single installation!

Ah, Yes I think we did have a conversation at some time in the dim and distant past about setting them up to appear in there own class but it was done this way to create as few headaches for Tony and the casual downloader as possible..

It does say in the readme part of the agreement screen in the installer....

"By default the cars all appear in the GTC-TC76 class but they will also appear in their own class by adding the following line to the  SIM_GTC.gdb file in the catagories section.

SIM_CA1967 = Can-Am 1967"

But hey who reads the agreement.  :lol:

It is worth adding this class though as there isn't really much that will run with the Can-Am's. Even pointy squirty things like the BMW Procar are murdered on most tracks.

As a "casual downloader"  I really appreciate this consideration, and I suspect that Tony is mighty relieved too!!  ::)

Good point, but I fear that we possibly will get the well known message like "...gdb mismatch..." online on a regular basis if we change the gdb-file accordingly.

If anyone discovers a bad cut warning on this track could they please post, stating where the bad cut is at. The track limit is defined by solid white lines. You do seem to be able to cross this line with two wheels without incurring a cut (at least that has been my experience to date).
If anyone finds otherwise please post.
Thank you.

Totally undrivable for me tonight. :( I battled on as long as I could but screen freeze after screen freeze for some reason. Never even got within 2 seconds of my usual time around here constant freezes for about half a second several times a lap, I've done 100's of laps around here including a fair few on the server leading up to tonight and never had this before.

I've decided to give GTL a miss for a while, I don't get these issues with any other sim and never had it with GTL until recently.

See if I can find it and try to get back next year.

Congrats to Ziu, Erling and John for the series podium.  Big thanks to John for making the series possible with his work on the mod cars and Tony for putting it forward.  Not much to report from me on the race, just drove the track as best and safely as I could to make it to the finish.  Always liked the track, it seems to me it's one of those that I can just get in a "zone" and the laps just pass by.  Had a good docile setup on the Lola except having to short shift in 2nd to keep the rear in the rear.
Hope I didn't hold you up Erling when you caught up to me, after your early trouble. The Lola and the Mac are just enough different in handeling and acceleration that to pass it's kind of tough. Only car I saw in the race that wasn't in a cloud of sand off the track....Kind of strange that some of us are having GTL crash trouble.  It's happened to me the last couple of weeks but this week I beat the odds and uploaded all my virus updates manually before the race and then did a Windows restart also.  No problems this week!!!!   Again thanks for the series..........

Bob M.

My race yesterday can be summed up in one sentence: Those bl..dy disappearing tyre marks!!!    I relied heavily on those for brake markers - didn't want to depend on the flimsy distance markers, which could very easily be taken out by wayward cars.  Hadn't checked offline if this was 'one of those tracks', so was in big trouble in qual and the race, when they all but disappeared.  There was still the start 'blotch', but at the speeds you're approaching in these cars, they're very easy to miss - especially if you have to hit the brakes just before you reach them.  Otherwise I quite like the track, with its fast curves.

In qual, I couldn't match my offline pb.  Had done a single, sub 1:30 lap, a 1:29.8.  Wouldn't have made a difference, as the aliens were much quicker.  Knew I could potentially get quicker off the line than Ziu's Chappy, but I was positioned behind him and would have to find a way around.  Succeeded in that, but was very surprised to also slip in front of Geoffers going into T1.  He had a clean run, so should just have pulled away.

My only concern for the race was that John didn't score more than 4 points more than me, as that would mean losing 2nd spot in the Championship.  Thus not very comfortable being in front of the two aliens, as they would surely look for ways past very quickly.  'Fixed' that problem myself late on L1, when I overshot my braking point in the fastest section, approaching the white bungalow. On cold tyres, I couldn't brake the car in time, and was still on the brakes when I had to turn in, resulting in a spin.  Several cars went past, including John, before I could rejoin in 7th position.

Chased after the field for a number of laps, until I had a very profitable one, passing first Roger, then Clive at the spot where I spun, and right after a stationary John, having spun off too.  A few more laps to catch Bob.  No hold up Bob - it's me who apologize for the brief contact. Hesitated until I had made sure I didn't bump you off, and then got going again.  After passing Bob, the race turned lonely. Leaders were 15-20 secs ahead and I wasn't closing. Towards the end, I spun off, and then lost more time each lap, as my rear tyre wear made the car increasingly oversteery.

Grats to Ziu for the win and Championship :clap: :clap: - and Geoffers for 2nd :clap:

Grats to John for 3rd in the Championship, but sorry to hear about your troubles; hope you can get them solved - you will be missed otherwise!

Big thanks to John for his hard work in bringing us this series, and of course to Tony for setting it up.

Have to agree with Erling about the braking marks, the track has so little in the way of landmarks that I too was using the tyre marks as braking points & struggled when they disappeared.

Made a mess of the start, was very wary of spinning up the rears & going sideways, consequently I didn't give it enough throttle & bogged down a little allowing Erling into the lead. Like Erling I could not get it stopped at the corner at the end of the fast section & had to run across the scrub which let Ziu into the lead, fortunately I hung onto 2nd place.

Followed Ziu in the early laps but with the lack of brake marks & Ziu's car ahead I found it very difficult to judge where to brake & also pick a line through the fast T1. Was rather relieved when I overshot one corner & lost touch & that Ziu upped the pace, it made it a little easier to drive. Still that didn't stop me making a couple more braking errors & going off later in the race. Ziu eased off over the last few laps & I finished much closer than I should have done.

Congrats to Ziu on the win & championship.  :clap: :clap:
Also congrats to Erling for 3rd in the race & 2nd in the championship & to John for 3rd in the championship.  :clap: :clap:

And thanks to Tony for great organisation.  :clap:  :notworthy:

Grats to Ziu, Erling and Geoffers on the Championship podium, and for showing how fast these cars should be.

 Well............................and well again. Which aptly describes two holes in the ground  ::) both of which I think I fell into for this race.

First "hole" was taking a car that I could not control, the second "hole" I discovered was way out in the desert after hitting some carefully placed rocks which flipped the car over. I travelled about 5 miles on my crash helmet I think :-\

Right up until that point I was uncomfortably struggling with my big engine Lola, should've taken a small block and perhaps had something that I could drive?. The rear end was trying to be first into, and out of, every corner. Any over aggressive gearchange was also a trip into the unknown in terms of which direction we might be choosing  :scared:. It was definitely a case of engine power outranking and overpowering the steering and suspension setup.
Thanks to Tony and John for this championship and these iconic cars. For me it was yet another steep learning curve and my limited abilities with these monsters.

Been a long time since I raced GTL online so used this as a test run to make sure my installation works as I hope to compete in next year's LM series. All seemed ok but I did notice some GDB errors by myself and others so hope that was just one of those GTL things.

Decided to start at the back and just keep out of everyone's way so spent most of the race looking in my mirrors as I didn't want to interfere with anyone's championship. Even so I think I'm gong to have to put in some serious practice in to get back up to pace  :o

I wondered if it was you, when I saw the name, but concluded "Nah, can't be; he would be MUCH faster..."  ;)

Anyway, welcome back; long time no see - have you spent too much time at the Outer Rim, to lose that much pace ?  ;D
