RACE TWO

Practice: ~21:00 (5 mins)
Qualifying: 21:05 (10 mins)
Race 2: 21:15 (25 laps)

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal

Server: simracing.org.uk Monday
Password: see above (#post_event_password)

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None

A fun race this, wrangling the Capri, and actually passing some people (from the lower class admittedly!) woohoo!  As I seem to do rather better in the bigger cars, it's a shame I've now used up my allocation for this series, but there you go. I have some RS1600 Escort drives to look forward to  :punk:
Wondered what happened to Clive, last lap ahead and there he was gone, handing me second in class  ???   Love this track!

Clive said that he was surprised to have a battle with me for Pole, well i m not surprised ! Short Track under one minute it s normal that the gap is little and more important that Clive with this muscle cars is fast.

The race was a battle between me and Clive but if Tony found a better setup (it s my opinion) it could be a battle with three drivers. Anyway the best car forthis track was Escort RS1600 (for me not possible pick it because restriction).
Camaro Z28 not is my muscle car prefered, and have a good setup for all three sectors not possible. My car setup was good between North Tower and Park Curve, bad between New link and Ramp Bend, very good between Anerely Ramp and South Tower, here i did Pole and i win the race, despite  problem with some  lapped, in facts Clive was sometime a threat when i not coult have a good traction on output of South Tower, but it went well !

Grats to Tony and Grats to Matt

I think that Crystal Palace is a great track and very funny

As race 1 was a joy, this one was a nightmare.  Pushed the car a little too hard before the tires warmed up and kissed the wall on the big right hander at the end of the back straight and tweaked the suspension a little so it pulled right.  Then a couple of laps later I  glanced off the wall at the first right hander after the S/F straight.  As I was trying to find first gear to get out of the way, here comes Steve and we collide nose to nose.  He suffers the most damage (big sorries Steve) and he has to pit and loses several laps.  My FVA is now worse , it pulls to the right as before but now if you try to get on the brakes hard, it takes off left or right like it has a mind of it's own.  Thought about pitting but decide to just drive on and see were I ended up...
Grats to the podium and big grats to Tony for his second place.  Good to see one of us mortals get a podium once in a while.  See you all next week..

Bob M.

Relatively uneventful race, except for the customary bad luck (driver mistake..).

Again couldn't match my offline pb, but in this case, it wouldn't have made any difference.

Got a reasonably good start, but soon was quite alone on the track.  Of course had to run wide at T1, hitting the wall, and of course it had to grab the car and spin it, and of course it had to come to rest nose towards wall, necessitating reverse to get going again.  Had managed to completely forget what wheel button I had mapped 'Neutral' to, and before I had found it, John swooped past.  Later passed him in an almost mirrorlike manoeuvre in the same place, after he had a moment with another car.  Kept the posititon to the end.

Grats to the podium, and again commiserations to anyone else suffering from misfortune.

Cheers,
Erling

Bob M.

Absolutely no need to apologise Bob. From memory my car was light when I started to brake so steering was compromised. As I was towards the back of the race I decided to humour myself with a full-blown pitstop of 3+ minutes. But I did rejoin with fresh tyres and some freshly polished body panels to show off at the finishing line

Looking forward to using my RS and Z28 drives idc.

Well done Ziu and Matt for 1st and 3rd, and to Tony for second place plus a well-deserved class win

Did not dream I would start in third for this and was convinced that I would somehow manage to lose loads of places with silly mistakes. But it was not to be. Just spent the entire race taking it careful and watching the two Camaro's in front of me battle it out. Only finished second due to Clive hitting the wall at North Tower. Still, happy to take the class win.

Decided to take one of my less favoured cars for race 2 as I reckoned there would be a few Camaro's and RS1600's out there and the slower of the 1600 Escorts gave me best chance to survive over race distance.

Qualified way down the order in 9th somewhere close to my PB. Made a good start and passed both Huggy and Bob early on then was re passed by Bob before finally passing him again and making it stick. Ran a fairly lonely race until around lap 19 when I came across a recovering Erling at T2 and got through to 6th, I could almost taste the lemonade or what ever you get for 6th place after all the Champagne has been handed out when disaster struck. Came across Misnoimis who had spun at T2 and was sideways across the track, went for the inside and realised he was rolling back towards the apex so made a snap decision to try for the out side and lost it, hit the barrier and ended up on my roof for my troubles. Waited patently for the marshals to roll me back onto my wheels but by then 6th was a distant memory and Erling had taken the place back.

So 7th it was at the end. About where I expected if I'm honest.

Congrats to Ziu, Tony Matt and Geoffers, The replay shows quite a tussle for the final Podium place.

Thanks for the race guys. Really great track for these cars.

TTFN
John.
