To prove if it was the track or a drivers connection, for this race WiFi is not allowed

thx buddy I saw it bit late. Anyway I seem to have an issue with track. I noticed IGOR wouldnt let me join cause not installed. I put in that new ini file but didnt help. Even my gem says not installed after I moved it into the proper place . Never experienced before ???

have you checked the season.ini with an editor? Maybe some info is scrambled there.

It often helps to create a new one of a backed up version.

oh I didn t back up ;(. no idea what to look for. If I install other tracks its ok. Just that interlagos. I tried remove it reinstall it etc etc. It moves like supposed but when I go out to main gem and back to the season page it will say ****not installed interlag  ???

It could be a problem on GEM+ / iGOR's end, since sgem.ini has not been updated for the new track. Not quite sure how to fix it, but there is an easy workaround :)

1. Go to iGOR, and find the server IP:

2. Open GPL, select 'Multiplayer', and type in the IP address:

wont connect.  connected once when I went straight to the exe for 66 but stuttery. not able later what I do? reinstall gem? I tried make a parallell but no joy

Thanks Tommie for the virtual mirror d/load.
But I realised that I have not got the "no letterbox" fix installed yet, so the mirror was hidden by the black band at the top of the screen  :-\

My first real race in the 66 Can Ams ( I have a vague recollection of trying Stardust in Can Ams, but that might have been 71's??) and a total guess at a setup. I think I need some serious practice and tweaking before I will be competitive in these beasts!!

It seems SRMZ is down ATM, does anyone have an alternative IP for the "No Letterbox" patch??

That sucks Clive :( . I run at 98° at 16:9 (as seen in the preview screenshot included in the d/l) but thought I also tested at 78° and 4:3, without letterbox patch.

I don't have the letterbox patch for you, but if you post a screenshot or describe how much of the virtual mirror you can see, I can lower the mirror so it fits underneath the black band :) . That way you'll have things sorted for the next time. It's only a 5 minute job for me anyway :) .

Tough race, got home late from a workout, so only got the chance to do one lap in quali. It was enough for pole! The starter was hidden behind my right mirror so I had to start in F10 view, thankfully everything went well. I was able to pull a gap to Carlos, Axel and Tom behind which was big enough for me to keep my first place after I had an off mid-race. I was able to drive it home after that and collect the trophy!  :)

Grats to Axel and Tom for the podium, and Dave for a strong drive to P4 :) .

Fun to be back, but I don t have as much time as I used to. I might sign up for one series.

Had a fun race and contact ewith Axel through the hole race. Altough I managed to close the gap last cpl rounds, I had no way past.

Yes those cars are really fun, but this works Mc is a beast, hard to keep straight.

Have you tried the Penskee one? I managed to go faster with that than the one I used . Tried right after the race. same weight and less horsepower but seemed so forgiving. smoother torque range I guess.

I feel like :-X today haha! We had a workout including 100 burpees and 30 pushups, as well as a 3 mile run :P . After that the Interlagos race of course, for good measure ;D

Hey, Greg!  Yea, that looks much the same as the V-mirror images I get with the '66 CanAms.  Not particularly useful.  I've been doing without the addon of late but would greatly appreciate a tuneup of same.  Tommie?  ;)

HA!  As I was ready to post, I got a snap message to say that someone has just posted.  It's Tommie with, apparently, new lower V-mirrors.  I'm anxious to try ASAP!  :)

I use a 92° FOV and am happy as it is. 1920x1080

I use something similar to Cookie, a 98 degree field of view for me. I'd recommend a wider FOV, but to each his own :) . The lower virtual mirrors work with the default 78 degrees anyway :).

I'll try the 98 degree first and if that does not work I will download the lower mirror option.............well I will when I get some time free from shopping and Christmas duties!!!

I've used a wider FOV since I switched from 4:3 to 16:9. The 16:9 aspect ratio crops the top and bottom part off from the 4:3 aspect ratio. I wanted those bits back, also because I couldn't see the mirrors anymore in the 1967 Brabham. With the wider Field Of View I have the original view as it was in the 4:3 days, plus some added bits on both sides of the screen :) .

I use 98° FOV for all mods including the original 1967 F1's, except the Sportscars and 1971 Can-Am's.

Technical babble for those so inclined:

Original GPL, and all open-wheel mods, have for each car inside the 3do a single positioner that tells the .exe both where the viewpoint is from inside the cockpit, and where to place the head of the driver in outside views. In other words, the viewpoint is an exact match with the position of the head. The Sportscars and 1971 Can-Am's have an extra positioner inside their car 3do's, which enables the cockpit viewpoint to be different from the location of the head of the driver. They have then placed the viewpoint further back whilst keeping the location of the driver's head the same. I think this was done to show more of the very nice interior of the cars on screen. However, it causes problems like floating driver arms in cockpit view, cockpit 3d structure cutoff visible in left/right views, and simply being too far back from the steering wheel to get a feel for the car. So I use the default 78° FOV for these mods.

Anyway, hope the lower virtual mirrors help for those using 78° FOV.

The new V-mirror files have worked wonders.  I typically use the 78° FOV and they work a treat at that angle.  Noting that some members are using wider views, I plan to experiment.

The default 78 FOV was chosen by Papyrus, because it gives a realistic perspective, the way your eye would see things on a real track. It lets you race closer to other cars, without hitting them too often. :-*  Merry Christmas all!

Thanks Tommie. I've been using the no letterbox patch so I've had good mirrors from the time you first posted the virtual mirrors. I was fooling around with video and screen captures when I read this topic, so I was ready to post a picture immediately. It's good to have these too. Occasionally, I have a reason to turn off the patch.

You could say I'm stuck in a rut concerning FOV. I tried for a while with a wider FOV, but I'm so adjusted to the original setting that I kept it the same. One thing that was disconcerting using a wider FOV, smoke off my front tires would blind me at times. :lol: I should play with FOV more often. Some day I might find something I like better.
