Awesome - apart from the fact you forgot the most important skin of them all: http://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/porsche-962c-long-tail-kenwood-kremer-le-mans-1989.12879/ (http://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/porsche-962c-long-tail-kenwood-kremer-le-mans-1989.12879/)

That's my Scalextric Porka so I demand the option to drive it!  :P

Nice! though a gentle drive around Spa isnt quite the same as trying for a time so will need some preparation.

IS there a noticabe difference in the cars? I assume the long tale has slightly less df but slipperier than the short tail?

I think 1 has boost and the other doesn't, but IIRC that didn't really matter for soem reason. So far my help  ;D

No problem dropping that skin in the mix. I haven't got all the great skins, just quite a few  :). This will not be the last time we use 962s so well worth installing the skins.

I sent Pete a pm earlier this eve but he must be recovering from his NYE  ;D

If someone sends me the server INI files I can start the the server. I won't have access to AC until later this evening to create them myself. Sorry.

Sorry Pete, been out and about all day too.

IS there a noticabe difference in the cars? I assume the long tale has slightly less df but slipperier than the short tail?

The Ai finds the long tail faster as it dominates the timesheets in my offline races, albeit the ai seems a bit crap in these cars at Spa whereas they are mighty in the cup cars  ???
My times are within a few tenths of each other for both cars  :) not had a chance to overlay the two motec laps over each other but Langheck feels faster on straights whereas the short tail claws some back in braking and tighter corners. I also had to make a few subtle tweaks to the Lt setup whereas the St was great straight out the box.

I've started testing in the LH, Knocked a second or 2 off stock so far but will try to reach a point where I can test the KH later this evening  :)
I'm still trying to get to grips with the daft diff still in the LH as that's where most of the laptime will be.

Sorry about my absence, back on station now. It appears there was also an update to AC over Christmas/New Year so the server has been updated and is now running practice for this event.

Cheers Pete, much obliged  :)

Be interesting to see what times our fast guys can get from this car. I'm estimating a 2:14/15 from the aliens. I feel quick in it but know the aliens will demoralise me  :'(

*ahem* 2:13's *cough*

Although that's in a short tail with mediums and about 26l of fuel.
Haven't decided on strategy yet but won't expect those times on full fuel...

Long tail is currently poised to drop into the 2:14's

 2:13?!  :'( lol and I thought I was 'on it' at 2:17  hope you lot appreciate the amount of practise time I have to give up organising these blinking races !  Oh well back to the track for me tomorrow night.  :-[

I managed a 2:13.3 with both on mediums and 60 L fuel. I think a 2:12 or maybe a 2:11 quali time should be possible.

The longtail is abit trickier to drive though then then the short tail.

I was hood winked by my times in comparison to the AI (and having no times to compare against!) as I was 3 secs a lap quicker so wrongly assumed to be on the pace  expected the quick guys to be another 2 secs faster but not 4 !! Will get my head down tonight and up my game  ;)

Short tail is a lot more fun to drive, and easier as well. Using 100% boost with the Long tail on the 2 straights, it has a lot higher top speed. Maybe faster drivers take the LT?

I can't even get near my offline times in the long tail!

Short tail was default setup. I did use a setup from the setupmarket on the long tail as default was terrible. Think I slightly tweaked the downloaded setup, still wasn't good, but more managable but was bored hotlapping, so didn't fine tune it in the end  :D

That's a bit better, I took over 2 secs off to get into low 1.15's. Had several Laps in the 14's but kept over cooking it on the brakes at the final chicane..tad more rear bias will cure that.
There were about 7 of us on the praccy server when I had to leave  (AC crashed on me when praccy ended)  ???

Still a country mile off Maikels time  :-[

I'm liking these cars alot more now  ;D

Quite busy too, were about 15 driving when I quit. Probably will go with the Longtail for the race. Although it's quite fast at 100% turbo it damages the engine, so in the race it should probably be used not too often ( mapped the turbo pressure buttons to the wheel for this ). Was about 1,5 seconds slower running on 80% boost.

Looking forward to the race tomorrow  8)

Wow 30 drivers have been on the practise server.  :o Popular combo!  Did we have a message up about the race? Still a blank page on my triples.

Car skins looked great  8) love seeing some iconic cars on track.

Shame I had to leave, could have driven that all night.

Nice, sure Maikel will too based on his pace!

Re the longer tail I found one click more front bump tamed the pendulum motion. Loved the way you can actually feel it's momentum in the tighter corners, great physics in this sim  8)

Yeah, I'll stick with the Longtail. Kinda like the way it drives aswell and pretty easy to catch a slide. Will have to move the boost down to 80% so my race pace will probably be a second or two slower. No idea how long the engine will last with a 100% boost.

So your laptime was done on 100% boost? I have no idea how much of a difference it makes, I only turned it up on the straight and I think that was around 15-20 kph.

I did 3 laps and the engine was down to 907 (starts at 1000)

Guess 0 is boom? But before that, surely the damaged engine will perform less?

Nope, performance is the same until 0.. your engine starts smoking at 500

Hadn't done 50 yrds before I was hit from behind which sent me 180deg, then had to turn the car around using forward and reverse gears. By the time I got going everyone was long gone, tried to catch up but it was pointless. Not very happy when I actually made an effort to make this race.

I had also a very nice race.. i was surprised about my pace, as it was 2 secs faster than my practice before.

i had Maikel in front of me going places in his long tail, after he flew by with at least 100 mph. I then caught up to Eck Simpson and we had quite the battle going on until he pitted.. i came in a lap after him, tyres must have been down to the rim. It felt like i had no grip on any of the tyres anymore :D

my pitstop then was surprisingly long as refuelling these cars takes forever, however somehow Eck was 20 seconds behind when i exited the pitroad.

Dont know what happened to him, but i was very disappointed and seeing him leaving the server a few laps after made me sad.. apparently something frustrating must have happened.

anyways, i spend the rest of the race almost all by myself until i noticed Mark Ekins caught up a seconds each lap. very close finish between him and me and i have to say, these cars are a blast to drive.

thanks for hosting this :)

Had a lot of fun sliding around with the longtail, unfortanely my start was abit messy. I was waiting for the starting lights and then I heard everyone revving, so I was like; ok, lights are gonna come on anytime now... and all of a sudden everyone was off  ??? Good thing nobody ran over the sitting duck. Don't know why it wasn't showing, though I blame my pitcrew for it  8)

Had some good fights with Denis and Eck for a while. Pitted probably a few laps to late as those mediums were down to 94%, switched over to the hards are those were alot better ( after about 10 laps they were still 98% ). Had 2 spins in total so around the last 6 laps I was around 30 seconds behind fmg and Jeffrey ( who seemed to be having a great close race, and hopefully slowing eachother down). Decided to just run the boost at 100% all the time, managed to take back around 15 seconds. Kinda feels like a prehistoric version of the strategic racing with the 919  ;D

Definitely would race some more with these.

who is up for that? :P

I've already got a race over at Core. Start of the Abarths  :P  Though they seem really popular as for the 1st race there are already 30 sign ups  :o

That was great fun but ultimately frustrating due to technical problems for me  :'(

First off I have to apologise to a couple of guys on the grid as I had a complete brain freeze numpty moment when I tried to select 1st gear using my paddles instead of the shifter  :-[ this meant I gave it lots of revs and went nowhere meaning someone smashed me up the backside and I also saw another car go sideways alongside me. Felt such an idiot. I actually wanted to restart the race but I don't know who has the option to do that? (Assume picnic who sets up the server? - we need a deputy if he's not present like tonight)
Sounds like ChrisT was one of the victims, sorry mate. Think I also got aero damage as I was over a sec a lap off my pace  :(

Anyway got going and then enjoyed a great first half of the race chasing Bob whilst spanner chased me. This went on for 12 laps until I pitted and was great fun. However as soon as I pitted my poxy game went Windows mode and lost all my controllers (this is an issue I've reported to Kunos since the last update - I thought it was fixed but did it tonight   >:( ). Only way I could get them back was hit 'return to pit' and that added a further 20 sec penalty to my stop so I was in there for ages....grrrr. Dropped from 5th to last  :'(

Rejoined angry and made a couple of errors on cold tyres. Tried my best to catch Stefan and steadily reeled him in but he finished ahead. Finished 8th  ::)

My tyres were totally shot and assume I should have used hards for this heavy fuel load? Hadn't experienced these wear levels in all my practise.  ??? But car was still pretty good due to its good downforce.

I was a bit disappointed we only had 12 runners, thought this would be much more popular as it's an awesome combination  8). The racing up front looked like fun.

Im sorry i didnt finish, im full of cold and i was all rushed getting home from work and having my tea, mrs nagging in my ear non stop kinda put me off racing..

Went into practise with no setup or anything, tried a couple things and nothing seemed to keep the rear planted, it was just all over.. seeing that the others were managing it better than me frustrated me as i knew it would be something in the setup i hadnt found.. started on meds.. sliding all over lasted about 4/5 laps and i just had enough.. returned to pit.. decided to carry on just to keep the numbers up so decided to change a couple of things around and for some stupid reason lowered myfuel way too much managed to find a better setup but had no fuel, still slip sliding all over i spun it and just thought enoughs enough.. rift off, ac off.. go make cup of lemsip.

Wasn't sure I was going to do the race as I kinda forced myself to take the longtail, eventhough I didn't like it, so lost motivation to race  :P.

Went on the practice server early to try and get the thing tamed and see if it would make it more enjoyable. In the end I went very extreme with the setup, but I hardly noticed any cons  ::).

Had a messy lap in qually, but still was unable to improve the next laps, as the rest were even messier. With an all time low point, hitting the inside wall in T1.

Decent start but I think it was FMG that had a better start as usual and I had to defend into turn 1. After that, with the use of some boost on the straight I was able to create a gap, but few laps later, all of a sudden I see the gap to FMG decrease rapidly. I was running the boost on 80% all the time then to preserve the engine and my tyres were already yellow/red and he was on hards.

I knew I didn't have his pace, even if I pushed on full boost, so I waited for him to close up. Then it was a matter of not outbraking yourself and switching to max turbo on the straights.

I was really holding him up, so I knew I had to go for the undercut with pitstops. If he would stop earlier and use the pace he had, he would jump ahead of me, so I pitted a lap earlier than planned.
When I cam out, I left the car on 100% for the whole time, untill he pitted. But even then, I was hardly able to close the gap, so I expected him to get out infront. Also because fuel took ages, and I forgot it is fuel added, so I had way too much fuel and he didn't need that much anymore.

But he came out of the pits a few seconds behind me, with around 9 laps to go. So I was in for a repeat of stint 1. This time, we were both on mediums, but mine were already close to getting yellow.
I thought about swtiching to hards, but I was already struggling with heat into the mediums, and you can't change tyre pressure for compound change, so I left it on mediums.

The first few laps with FMG right behind me, I only used the boost on the straights, but the last few laps I left it maxed out the whole time. Worn tyres plus full boost, equals feathering the thottle to the extreme. Often barely touching the throttle and coasting through corners. I had to focus on the exits, as FMG had more cornering speed and would often leave a slight gap to have the momentum out of the corner.
Luckily for me, the extra power of the LT saved me.

This race was exactly what I was hoping for for this race, a handling vs power battle just like a few weeks ago at Imola. I have seem to be on the defending side a bit much tho  :P.

Had a bit of aero damage halfway through the race, no idea if that slowed me down more, but on the replay it looked like my front was wrecked  :-X. Damage model in this game is so increadibly bad.

Awesome race in the end and well done to FMG for having the patience to be behind my slow car  ;D

and I forgot it is fuel added..

Yeah, that confused the hell out of me. Plus I think I was probably reading 15 L as 15 laps, not Litres..  ::) Made 3 stops and still wasn't sure exactly what fuel I was putting in the car! On fumes at the end, but I was 2 laps down by then so just had enough to get across the line. Congrats podium.

Sorry for a tap at the chicane early in the race Frex, you must have sneaked up the inside when I was lining up on spanner and I just didn't see you in the blind side until I felt a thump on turn in  :-[ didn't cause either of us to go awry but you did seem to hang back after that.

@brocookie, that Sunday race looks like fun. Will see if I can attend but know we've got guests Sunday so will have to see on the day  :)

I think you mean me there Mark, not Fmg? If so, no need for apology - that was my fault being a bit overambitious and locking up into the chicane. As you say, we both carried on ok but I had picked up some front end damage, which is probably why I dropped back after that.

my pitstop then was surprisingly long as refuelling these cars takes forever, however somehow Eck was 20 seconds behind when i exited the pitroad.

Dont know what happened to him, but i was very disappointed and seeing him leaving the server a few laps after made me sad.. apparently something frustrating must have happened.

I need to find myself a static chair, I was rolling farther from the pedals... stretching a bit too far, I looked down at the floor. Only to feel the wall interfere with my car... lol. It had been and was continuing to be, a great race. I'd just watched Mark (spanner) do a masterful lap, to make the gap unassailable. I'd hoped to just get comfy n settle into my lot. So, in conclusion. I worked hard, to sabotage my own race... lol

Grats to Jeffrey, FMG, Maikel and all that finished.

Surprised that these cars created a good race! Seems like Marks lack of start helped hold people up as It felt like id gained loads of positions into the first corner, deceptive seeing Maikel so far down!  Was struggling to follow Bob early on as he seemed slower/faster in different places and had Mark directly behind and fell off but seemed to end up back with Mark/Bob again and had a good race with them until the stops. I'd gone with a full tank so still had a few laps to go so tried to concentrate a bit and hope I came out ahead when I stopped. I assumed Mark had sorted out how to do quick stops but then surprised to come out with a large gap to Bob and Mark was nowhere, and i'd come out in 5th! Eck was only 4 secs behind but with the new tyres and less fuel I was doing my fastest laps but only stretched the gap to 5.5 secs but was a little disappointed that he quit out. However a few laps later I noticed I was gaining on 4th! huh? But just couldn't get close enough in time before the end of the race. There's noway I should have finished 5th!

Shame a few people had issues that made them leave.

Went on the practice server early to try and get the thing tamed and see if it would make it more enjoyable. In the end I went very extreme with the setup, but I hardly noticed any cons  ::).

What setup changes did you make? I tried to tame it aswell but I gave up and just went with the drift mode through the corners, yours looked more stable.

My tyres were totally shot and assume I should have used hards for this heavy fuel load? Hadn't experienced these wear levels in all my practise.

Hards were definitely the tyres to go for the longtail. Mediums only lasted for about 4 laps and the hards were still pretty good after 12 laps. Had abit of a problem with heating up the front tyres but nothing abit of aggresive driving can't fix  ;D

The Porsches seem to favor a soft setup, same as the GT4.
