Season 31 - 67F2 - Fun Race – Goodwood

The 55 mod team has made a fix for the great Goodwood track!
So I proposed to make a test fun race. The fix will be posted by Greg Gliebzeit at SRMZ!

A fix for Goodwood at last!!!  :jumpjoy: :jumpjoy:

There is no doubt that Goodwood has always produced some fantastic races but the disco glitch meant that it could never be relied upon for serious racing. But hopefully now we will see it more frequently.

I have my fingers crossed that we will have returned from a family visit on Sunday evening, so that I can help test this update............. ;)

If he knew I expect Mr Trump would have announced the Goodwood fix in his inauguration speech. This is in my top 5 GPL tracks.

Applyng this patch,the game don't work.There is the message:impossible to load the track.

I have downloaded the 2 files, but not exactly sure where they should go?

I am guessing the new ,trk file goes in the existing Goodwood folder> and the sound files go in the same place?   For us numpties a short "README" would be much appreciated.

I downloaded the file without sound, put it in the Goodwood folder and it run...

Same here. Works OK.

I only dl without sound file, overwrite the existing file, all seems fine.

I joined successfully, but I had a disco after two qualification laps. I am trying to rejoin, but it says timed out connection.

It was okay for me. I just had to leave the track early due to RL :(

Freeze lap 2 :-\

I'm guessing this track is not fixed.

I downloaded the file from the link "goodwood.trk" & dropped it into the Goodwood folder. There were no other TRK files, i.e. this is an additional file not a replacement?

There seemed to a mass disco during practice. I managed about four during the race laps before a screen freeze - about the same place as the screen freeze in qualifying.

Might have been my pure bad luck or a server issue.

Joined first time, but only for about a minute. Many times timed out, then joined again for a minute before screen freeze again. Joined for last 8 minutes of qualy. Suffered bad fps drop at various times. I think it was when chat message join/disco appeared, but stayed connected. Racing hectic, but screen freeze again after about 2 laps. I wasn't the only one. My connection is usually very solid.
I'm not sure that the new fix made any difference?

Same problem for me, FPS falls down only message appeared and freeze after 2 or 3 laps

I joined OK ..but only about 10 mins of quali to go, so no time to be disco'd. Not to bothered by setups etc, just wanted to be involved in the test, and just grabbed one from Bugatti for the Lola BMW

Race was OK, but noticeable that several cars vanished, until 4 laps from the end when I got a screen freeze at St Mary's and had to ctrl-alt-del to crash GPL.

From what others are saying, it looks like the fix is not exactly working?  :-\

Have we all applied the "fix" correctly? I just dropped the new goodwood.trk file into my existing goodwood track folder. It occurs to me that if we have not implemented the new .trk file properly then we are in effect running the OLD Goodwood circuit with all of its faults??

Each track folder contains a .dat file wich contains the parts a track is built of.

Whenever you put a file in the track folder, this file will be taken replacing the file in the .dat container!

Even I have a very instable connection atm I had several freezes and discos...

You did nothing wrong, this fix seems to make it worse, not better!

No disco here, but some glitches which often occur in Ukgpl races. :-\  Used original graphics with only the new fix added.  Needed some extra frames for a better race.

Andreas - thanks for hosting the practice server earlier & for the race. 
The connection seemed stable for me for the event.  However from looking back at logs from my monitoring machine,  it shows some loss to the race server [bottom trace] which ties up with loss/latency from GTT to a couple of intermediate nodes at UPC/Liberty Global [aorta.net].   However, the internet is full of holes, so probably nothing otherwise to worry about :)

However, as mentioned  - it seemed ok for me.  There again,  unfortunately - I wasn't exactly running with a large number of cars nearby...
Mr Hunt did seem to have his cloaking device [or maybe it was a flasher's coat?!] on for a while.

Thanks to Andreas with his tow-truck for keeping it interesting.  Thanks again for waiting for me on a few occasions!


I also delved into the realms of Open Hardware Monitor & found that my previous custom profile for the gpl folder didn't seem to make any difference at all!
So, added individual .exe for gplcf2.exe  & that showed GPU clock increase etc.   

Good to be back after the break.  I clearly have not driven much recently, my thumb has apparently lost it's wheel callus...

Simply I moved the fix-files into the existing folder

No issues here (aside from Martin doing a "now you see me, now you don't" bit), with fix applied.

But UKGPL race report has me driving a Ferrari when I was in Matra MS7  ??? (no big deal, but worth noting).

Great first lap (12th to 5th), not so great after that (back to 12th, slow climb back). :P

Fun track, even if I do have a lot of room for improvement here.

I enjoyed my race, but did suffer a screen-freeze during quali. Pity the new fix seems to not have fixed the issues with Goodwood as it's a great track to race on. Oddly enough I was suffering with cramp in one of my fingers during the race which I'd like to blame on my two spins  ::). But I suspect it was more a lack of concentration. One spin too many and decided to call it a day.

I did note a lot of cars in my mirrors flew off the circuit, seemingly taking evasive action. Was I braking too early for the corners? Apologies if that was the case. Congrats to all finishers.

The server issues seem to have detracted from a brilliant drive by Gareth.

Tho I cant take all the credit, the server issues dealt with some of my competitors, bad luck guys! and Roberts mechanic didn't put enough fuel in, commiserations Rob.
First race win since my daughter was born, she is 3 today, also I remember my last race win, Blue mountain (November 2013), that track got put on the black list as well, LOL.

Grats Gareth, great pace mate, noticed you've improved a lot since your comeback! ;)

Haven't been racing online a lot lately, and didn't prep like I normally do. My last lap in quali was good and almost snatched Pole. Had 2 unforced errors going off, starting on Lap 1, but since many suffered from freezes/disco's I was back challenging for the lead soon, also due to others going off. Car was kind of hard to handle like push-oversteer, but might have to do with the track characateristic and my driving as well. Since I didn't take enough fuel with me, and only found out late race, had to let go Gareth in the penultimate lap (who had slightly more pace anyway) and had to  settle for second coasting to he checkered. Doni ran well in the F166 as well, and wasn't that easy to pass despite his lack of power/straight line speed.

Like Dean says, some car choices are not reflected in the results. I drove the T84...

Nice to  see a solid grid, also with some newer names! Shame the fix didn't help, but maybe it's also the 60fps patch!?
