so you guys setting laps today (including me) were using 1.14 version of the track? I haven't downloaded 1.15 yet and not sure Pete has for the server either.  :-\  unless 1.15 is just graphic improvements and doesn't affect the version number  ???

Made me think, has this car got adjustable boost? I just ran it out the box so no idea what default boost setting is.

Me-thinks we need a historics night for AC as well as modern stuff, there is so much good content for racing.

Server was running 1.14 but when I checked Jeff and a couple of others were connected so there can't be any differences from a server POV (well for the GP track at least)

1.15 just has some fix for flickering shadows and an improved ai line.

And yes, this thing has an adjustable boost. 70% is usable for racing, doesn't damage the engine. Handy tip would be to have the boost adjustable buttons on the wheel, and crancking it up on the straights or when passing someone ( oldschool KERS  ;D )

Would be interesting to see how a battle in one of these would play out.
Hoping for a good attendance for this race. Maybe advertise around at Core's?

Did you put the engine limit on the max Maikel? Is there a useful setup for this car, as default seems horrible and needs a lot more wing to start?

Yep, engine limit to the max, doesn't seem to damage it. Only having the boost beyond 70% did.

I took a setup from setupmarket. There is only one from the 1.12 version from Orpeq ( its from the monza 66 track, so some gearing tweaking needed ). Just added a wing or 2 for safety measures  ;D
Probably needs alot more tweaking but its a good start.

Should we try out the improved start feature for this race too? We haven't used it yet here and would like it in place before the next proper series  :).
If Pete ticks it on the server we can do a few practise race starts online by skipping sessions.

Ps Maikel feel free to give the race a shout over at core. I don't feel I can do that whilst not racing there lately.

As I pointed out elsewhere I'm not able to race this. I've updated the the 1st post to show there will be a 2 hour practice session starting at 6:15pm (UK)

I'll change the start procedure too.

Not touched the 98T yet and i can't recall the ammount of livery's this car has. Do we need to look for some additional skins?

My real life Lotus Elise is being sold and I have been looking at Mk1 1 Porsche Cayman's as a possible replacement. Only thing is I've been reading about this engine bearing problem with the Boxster and Caymen engines :(

Bore score can affect the 3.4 engine variant pre 09 only I believe. Just get it checked before you buy, they can stick a scope in and check.

Its ghe IMS bearing failure that worries me the most.

Jeeeezz, this thing is crazy. I ran an online DTM race first, then took to the Lotus. Man, you really need a mental reset.

Did some adjustements to the dampers and camber and dailed in a fair bit of wing. But looking at the times i am loosing too much speed. So i will have to see if i can get some more practice in before race day.

I think you just need to treat it as a fun sim racing driving experience and soak up the visuals of a grid of old f1 cars. No doubt the aliens will make a race of it but rest of us will hang on for dear life and try and make it to the end without dropping it  ;D
I was finding 10 minute runs at the weekend tiring enough with pure focus, so 25 after a few mental days at work should be, ahem...'challenging'  :P

 ::) In my opinion 'challenging' is somewhat of  an understatement.........

Everything else will feel horribly slow after Wednesday...  ;D

Running with quali tyres and 100% boost makes a huge difference though

Still amazed I'm sitting just behind Jeff and Maikel in the timings after 4 days  :o  ;D albeit a couple of secs adrift as per normal  ::) ...and I didn't even try 100% boost  ;) think I was on softs though which hang on for about 10 laps but I don't know how far beyond that  :-\

Ok. I did not had the guts to dial it up to 100% yet.. :P  Will try it of course.
Still i think i am running too high on wing settings, so will have to do a bit more testing.

Grab the setup off the setup supermarket Stefan, that's what I did as just don't have the time to set up an f1 car  :( seemed to work well and better than default.

I've tweaked that setup abit and put in on ptracker. (Might need some tweaking in gearing, but I don't like the 6th gear. My gearbox sometimes mistakes the 4th for the 6th  ::)  )

And now I need a shower  ;D

Don't know whether the engine died or what, but the car just lost all power on lap 7 and coasted to a stop  ???  Thought it had ran out of fuel as just went silent but I still had 56L onboard. Happened as I exited old Hairpin, very odd. Unless my early side clatter against the tyres gave me damage?

Shame only 7 brave souls turned up. As I expected, I just found it too manic after another mental day at work. Matched my pb but was 1.2+ secs up on two of my qually laps only to cock up late in the lap  ::)

Race was just horrible. I've been struggling with FFB settings for months now, and i have no clue what works and what doesn't. is there a way to completely reset back to default?

No idea how people were flying past me on the straight when I had full boost and same wing settings  ???

Engine damage? That or simple drafting, tow was pretty monstrous in these!
Also if I was one of those people I probably didn't have the same wings. That was my own setup last night.

Didn't deserve 2nd but I'll take it.
Anyone have the replay? Server started the next season so I didn't catch it, want to watch my Senna-esq pass through the middle of the leaders after the chicane around lap 1 or 2 ;D

Slipstream effect was pretty big yeah, but did you use alot of boost early on and damage the engine maybe too much ?

Oh and for ffb do you use any apps ?

Ps. AC saves replay from multiple session now, actually been that way since 1.10 or so  ;D

I used full boost and 90% for the last 5 laps which seemed fine, but it went very quickly the last lap for some reason. But I don't really care, I tried to blow up my engine halfway through the race by spinning the wheels in the grass, to end the misery which was called this race.


I have that FFB clip app, but I have that on manual. Will probably delete that app as it's rubbish (on auto it keeps setting my FFB to 135% or more  ::)) and delete all the preference folders.

Haven't got any motivation to race lately and wasn't likely to do this race, but thought let's give it a go. That was a mistake, so I'll pick my races more carefully next time  :P

Try it on auto and then dynamic. That way it keeps increasing the FFB until it clips and then it drops down. Feels very natural to me. Much heavier on straights and just about right on the corners so that you'll keep all the data going through the wheel.

I tried that, but my wheel doesn't clip, even when it's at 135% or more. But I can barely turn the wheel anymore  ;D

That was a cool race. I was loving it. Difficult machinery, but it is nice to have these kind of race cars available.
GT3's are for softy's.. :P
