I will already miss this one, but is it possible to reset the times on stracker so we get a clean sheet for this season?

Jeff, in the stracker page change the date to 'from 05/05/2017' and it will filter out all times set before that date. :). I see Michaels been busy  ;D

+ we can manage STracker in Championship stuff.  But i don't know how. Then we'll have clear database with correct first place time- not from absolute best time.  :)

Not driven AC for a long time, have been driving the audi GT3 in iR so coming back was very strange, quite a different feel, but a good one.

The Audi here is tough to get the time out of, you need to be consistent as corner speed is king. The corners out the back are brilliant in it tho! Just the slow speed ones i'm struggling with.

Thought i'd try the Ferrari out but only briefly as the session timer was counting down! Reminds me of the Lambo as it needs driving off the rear a little too much as i couldnt lean on the front, but kept losing the back too much. Still needs some work.

Seems alot of the cars have setup issues, camber and toes especially when you compare the setup options to the car status view, something really i wouldnt expect from a product this old and with so many updates.

Just tried all the cars, and the most of them are within a few tenths. The McLaren is still the fastest and such a joy to drive. The Porsche is the only one for me who can stay close to the McLaren, as it's the 2nd best car for me and with some setup tweaks might actually be faster than the mcLaren. It's a lot less forgiving tho, as oversteer often means a spin.

I did my laptime with 1-0 wing. The Audi has amazing grip, so don't be afraid to lower the rear wing a lot, as it can handle it fine :).

Not sure what you mean exactly, but the status screen is the current status of the car IIRC. Which is also influenced by the position your car is in in the pits. I think the setup values don't take things into consideration.
I think the status camber for instance is different due to other setup options influencing it. (Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that's how AC handles it).

Post by: Mark J on May 06, 2017, 05:49:26 PM +0100
you are correct Jeff, you will nearly always get odd camber readings in the pits due to the uneven surface. Only real way to see what your camber is doing on track is via motec or telemetry.

Title: Re: UKAC Season 3 Blancpain - Brands Hatch - May 10
Post by: spanner on May 06, 2017, 06:32:55 PM +0100
When the setup option states the camber is -2.5 all around, say, the car status states something different and was finding that one corner was always well out. If the car status IS the real settings than fine.

However i hadnt thought of the live settings based on the uneven, cambered pit lane! So what do i set things to?? Setup the car on another track with a flat pitlane?

Jeff i was running 0-0 wing in the audi, well the lowest setting on both (think its 1-1). But the lack of power is telling.

Lol forgot about the porsche as well! plenty of laps to do!

wow 3 pages of timings on stracker already even with the date set to start 05/05  :o ...popular combo 8)

Also shows how clearly that 650s is faster than the rest in capable hands !

I'm happy with the porker in qually mode but the race pace is a different matter as soon as I have to run medium front tyres with no weight over them  :surrender: as I know softs will not last 40mins  :-\

Hey TT, good to hear from you  :) get yourself on the practise server and see how you fare against the times already set. There is a nice shiny Ferrari 488 for you too as I remember you quite liked to race with Ferraris

Lap count added to first post  :)

I see stracker has attracted all the alien show boaters with their fancy fast times  ;D

But you are all slower than the real pole position time set by a Lambo today at Brands hatch...1:22.8  :o

We were just testing on mediums  8)

Ferrari is still quickest for me ( yet to try the 650s ) but the lambo was susprisingly close, as yesterday it was almost a second behind on Barcelona. The rest of the cars is quite close, Nissan feels abit too big for this track  though ;D

Having just spent the day at Brands Hatch watching this awesome series racing live, I cannot wait to get started  8)

I'm seriously tempted to swap to a Lambo after watching them in action, my 2nd favourite sportscar maker :)  Porsche were conspicuously absent from the grid  :( but enjoyed watching them in the GT4 support race. Will think on it.

Great set of times on stracker with almost every gt3 car available  :o

Shame we can't have the Bentleys in the mix this time, they have great presence on track and sound cool.
But Don't worry, I expect I'll contest the pork for the new experience, just not sure how quick it can be on the mediums over a race distance. Maybe this track amplifies the problem of cold front meds with its many off camber turns.  :-\

P.S. tried a few laps and it doesn't drag me, so...

that's a real shame TT, its an awesome racing series. If you aren't getting the right feedback for your steering wheel, shout up the type and someone here will have the ideal settings for it.

Great fun on the practise server this evening, with many regulars and new faces putting in the laps. The track was so busy at some points it felt like a proper race meeting practise session.  8)  Was good to chase a few different cars to get some racecraft back in the system and compare cars.  :thumbup1:  I managed to squeeze more pace out of the mediums than previously so a worthwhile test session  :)

Ok, hopefully sorted. Reduced practice to 30 mins

Phew well done Pete  :)

Can we still cut practise short at 8.15? Guess we can use advance session/vote  :-\

I left the server since I had just yesterday to practice and I was making errors every lap, then rejoining and causing problems to others running in the track, plus had multiple crashes (and apart from one where I think we both could avoid it, IMHO not my fault, checking the replay)
Sorry and see ya at the next one when hopefully with more practice I won't race this bad :/

cheers for that, i had an enjoyable race.. :)

what i have noticed with VR is how close you can drive to someone without making contact. :)

great fun, look forward to the next one.

Sorry for the cock up with the server first thing, problems mainly with the entry_list file.

Also not sure what happened at the end, we usually have a 300 second period after the race before the game advances to the next event. The instruction is still in the config file but had no effect tonight  :-\

Lack of practice, curtailed further with the starting issues, made me even less competitive than usual. At least Spanner kept waiting for me in the later stages so it wasn't too lonely  ::)

After getting stuck behind Mark for half that race because I slowed to avoid the mayhem at paddock hill bend on lap 1, it was fun to pass him around the outside of Hawthorns.  :o :o

He was clearly running a lot less wing than me as he had a good 5mph more on the straight so it was very hard to find an opportunity to get past. The low wing meant he was horribly slow through Hawthorns and even more so at Westfield where it's very difficult to reduce speed if you realise you're going to run into the back on someone!

That was rubbish for me - maybe a tainted view as a result of being collected by the T1 accident while threading through it.
But also tangled with Bob (who I let back past, but got rear ended twice in the process despite sticking to the edge of the track well off pace ::) ) and just had difficulty focusing.
Dunno why but that overcast weather was giving me serious problems at the end of the main straight with getting my bearings, as a result I ran way off my offline times  :(

Hopefully next race will go better.
Well to to the podium and finishers

Hi guys,
after some doubts Matteo and me, decide to take the Lambo. I drive only italian cars :)

QUALIFYING
Not a good qualyifing but is enough to take the pole position. I was lucky because the fastest drivers haven't joined the race.

RACE
Good start, I maintain the first position.
Matteo is second and this is the key of the race. He stops ChrisR for some laps.
It's enough to gain seconds and keep them until the che chequered flag.

See you in Silverstone in which the Porsche is absolutely the fastest.

Kind of enjoyed that and finished roughly where I expected to finish. Qualified 11th which was a little lower than I had hoped but my time was as good as I could do so overall fairly happy. Got caught up in the turn 1 incident, due to the bumper car effect. Didn't really cost me but did mean I then had a couple of amazing laps trying to pass Stephen while defending from Thomas, Alexey and Pag :) Pag and Thomas spun and once Alexey passed me, it was just a race long battle with FMG who was so much quicker than me but kept spinning :) Ended up finishing 9th so pretty happy really.

The McLaren was ok in the end. Struggling to get any speed out of it and Alexey and FMG passed me like I was standing still. Still, I have the best looking car on the grid for sure which at the end of the day is the important part  ;D

Quite happy with at 3rd place here.

Had a good quali and managed 2nd, though probably since Chris wasn't going for the softs  :P

Was abit slow at the start and lost a spot to Matteo with Chris right on my tail. For the next 14 laps we were having some pretty close fights, me and Chris switching for position to be the guy stuck in the middle.. Tricky trying to keep that Ferrari behind me as its so much faster in the corners but the Nissan just blows it away on the straights ( too bad there aren't enough of those on this track  ;D )
Made a few mistakes when I was the guy in the middle but I never liked being in a threesome, I can only focus on one at a time.  8)

Chris got by in the end and was chasing Gavino ( who had a pretty brutal pace right from the start ) so I got to stick behind Matteo, shame he spun at one point as our times were pretty equal. So second half of the race it was just keeping that big brute between the lines  ;D

On to Silverstone and more straights  ;D

Awesome race and great result for me  :)

Qualifying was intense and I got a new Pb finally breaking into the 24's so was chuffed with a good session and being in the top group.

Race, I got a decent enough start following nfsw into Paddock, but he then had slow oversteer spin (cold tyres?) and crossed the path of the whole pack  :o but I just managed to jink left and get through without contact..phew!
Found myself in 5th with the very fast 4 ahead and then my usual nemesis Shark turned up in my rear view mirror. He pursued me very hard for 15? laps and could tell the Merc had way better front end grip than my Porsche, it was really noticeable at the exit of clearways where he could always get on the power sooner whereas I was 'wait for it....wai-t...then go' down the straight  ::) Contrary to his thoughts, I was running near max wing (18 out of 20!) but the Porsche has always been blessed with great traction so I was able to blast out of surtees up the straight, hence pulling a gap, but again with the cold front meds, braking in surtees or for Hawthorns was always taking longer than I wanted and he'd be back all over me again.
Hat off to Simon though on the overtake on the outside of Hawthorn!  :o that was ballsy but he knew he had to try something like that as its hard to overtake another quick car here. Well done  :)
I then chased his butt hard for a few laps but I also had nfsw's Manthey Porsche attacking me from the rear :o in the end I was just exhausted from 17 intense qualifying type laps, baking hot! and I just braked a little late at Druids to allow him to nip up the inside..damn.
Fortunately for me he then had another oversteer spin at Paddock a few laps later and I had a fairly clear run to a great 5th place finish on my home circuit  :)
I was totally knackered after 40mins here, there is just no respite on this track  :sweatdrop:

I hope everyone else had a good race, I didn't really see anyone other than a couple of lapped cars near the end.

Congrats to Gavino on the win and the podium finishers  :thumbup1:

Don't understand the wing stuff. You pulled away near the end of the straights not at start, it wasn't traction. I was topping out at 149mph. Perhaps the merc is just slow in a straight line? I was on 7 or 8 wing I think.

I went for the Lambo cause I would had the chance to exploit a good engine, even if I was undecided to take the Porsche until the end, that owns a good engine too.
Qualified fourth at the very last attempt, I had a great start overtaking Maikel and Chris, taking the 2nd position before the first corner.
I fought tooth and nail for the first 12/13 laps, struggling to keep Chris behind me, but his Ferrari was faster in cornering and after some laps I played a couple of Joker to stay on the tarmac and the tyre temp become difficult to manage. Constantly under the pressure put by Maikel & Chris, the last one passed me at the hairpin, widening a bit his line on the exit sending me on the grass.
I managed to do another couple of laps defending the third position by Maikel, before that spun that deprived me of another half race of pure fun.
The rest of the race was trying to cool down the tyres and keep "The Thing" on the tarmac, and it was not so easy, but in the end I never established a good 'relationship' with Brands Hatch and this race is only a further proof  ;D

See you at Silverstone  :)

Damn my Porsche looks sexy  8) :tt1:  good action shots.

if anyone has some good images from the race and a replay that would be great as I can stick it on the Kunos site for a bit of advertising.

With Jeff back in the mix I think you front 4 or 5 guys are going to have a hell of a season long battle at amazing pace. :o Its good that a Lambo won here as it reflects the real event last weekend, where the Huracan was the best car. 8)

I think you're right Mark. Some crazy quick guys racing with us now and the battle at the front will be intense. I finished the last championship in 8th but I'm not sure I will do the same this season. I might squeeze into the top 10 but it will be tough.

That's why I was very chuffed to get a 5th place finish at a track that doesn't suit the Porker too well with all its cambered corners and no weight over the front wheels.  :) (Though I'm sure the aliens are still quick in it)

Bloody large windows update came through day before and had affected the triple screen settings, my sound and the wheel so spent all of practise trying to sort them all out, getting stressed. Not what I needed.

Happy I did my quickest lap but depressing to see how much faster people are going.

Bit disappointed but then its not like I've done a race in the car before! Was running 8th at one stage after the melee in the first corner, but a few random spins meant I dropped right back, struggling with a lack of front grip compared to the rear.

Gives me a few areas to work on still with the setup

Try the setup market spanner, there are usually some decent improvements over default on there, though still the odd duff one. You can filter by car type on there.

A guy called Gregor Kinski made setups for all GT3 cars at Mugello. They all seemed pretty good setups, maybe a tweak here and there. They were made for 1.12, but I don't think a lot changed for the cars.
He also made some 1.13 setups, but haven't tried them. Good base to start of if you are looking for setups.

I used his setups for testing at Brands.

Might have to try them. I downloaded a few setups from the market for Brands and I was surprised how absolutely rubbish some were  :o
Had to change most of them ( I think only one Porsche setup was pretty good ).
Way too stiff suspension, gearing making no sense whatsoever.

I don't trust most of those setups on there anymore, I only try to find a few made by familair names  ;D

Using hisome setups was just convenient for me. Setups for all the gt3 cars by the same guy and for the same track. Maybe some Setups were bugged because they were for 1.12. For instance the lambo setup, it had maximum ARB at the front and back. Maybe it was actually meant that way, but I hated it. But at least you get a base to develop your own setup.

Sorry guys but I guess there is something wrong with the Team Championhip points. Me and Gavino collected 30 + 13 points, so the VDA Team should be at 43 points instead of 45. Shark team should have 20 (Maikel K.) + 17 (Simon Gymer) + 5 (picnic) = Tot. 42 points, instead of 45. What am I missing in your maths?  ::)

I didn't checked the other teams, but I just wanted to point it out cause nobody did noticed it until now.
Thank you ;)

Good question. :-) No idea. :-) It's only top 2 for each team so it's actually 20 + 17 for Team Shark (37), whereas VDA, as you correctly say, should be on 30 + 13 (43).

From memory a driver who's not in a team doesn't 'steal' points from team drivers. For example if the winner is not in a team and the guy who finishes 2nd is the 2nd place guy will get team points as if he won the race
