The Autodromo Nazionale Monza is a race track located near the city of Monza, north of Milan, in Italy. The circuit's biggest event is the Formula One Italian Grand Prix. With the exception of 1980, the race has been hosted there since the series's inception.

Note the Privateers division is run on Intermediate damage settings. Drivers are permitted 1 Shift R followed by a Stop & Go in the pit lane within 2 laps. Failure to make a stop will result in a 30 second time penalty. If you require a stop & go on the final lap & are unable to complete a time penalty of 15 secs is added.

Sorry Hammonds for the touch in Parabolica.Against your car my car have gained the speed never achieved against the Eagle of Turner.I have pushed hard on the brake to facilitate your passage but was not enough.
Anyway 2 engine burned also this race.

How is it possible to throw away a car on a straight at Monza? Even worse, how is it possible to lose it twice on the same straight in the same place?

I knew before qualification started that I'd be the only Cooper in the field. No one but a masochist drives a Cooper at Monza. But I had committed at the start of the season to drive the old thing all year, and so as usual I qualified in the back of the pack. Not until about L20, when I was about to be lapped by Axel and John as we came out of the second Lesmos, had I made even the slightest little mistake. But I must have been spending more time looking at them in my mirrors than I spent looking at the road ahead for before long I was in the trees on the right and losing quite a bit of speed, possibly because by then my car had but just three wheels. I did a quick SHFT-R, did the obligatory SnG, and three laps later repeated the same stupid move with the same stupid consequences when the next round of lappers appeared in my mirrors. The only difference was that I'd run out of SHFT-R options so I did the ESC-<CR> in disgust and wondered how soon I might expect to be nominated for the Al Pease Award as the worst driver in UKGPL (All Cars, All Mods, All Leagues).

Quiet race for me. Qualified in 2nd a little short of my PB but had I matched it I would still have been short of Axel's pole time.

Flag dropped and we all got away cleanly and I dropped in behind Axel with Rainier behind me. Tried everything I could to stay with Axel but slowly he extended away and I also managed to pull away also from the pursuing pack. Even late in the race until we came around to lap Francesco and Michael I still got the odd glimpse of Axel either as he exited the 2nd Lesmo or headed off down to Curve Grand but I was a good 7 or so seconds behind.

Had a mix up when lapping Francesco as he mentioned. It was a combination of me being a bit more careful into the Parabolica so as not to run into Michael and Francesco being caught out by the slipstream which gave him a very good run down from the exit of Ascari. I should have been a bit more aware but didn't expect him to be back alongside. Spun through a 360 but no damage and fortunately I had a good gap back to Fulvio's Ferrari so didn't panic and just bought it home.

Thanks guys, it was a blast as always.

TTFN
John.

I cannot resist to the call of Monza but... I still have issue with the FPS when online. :(

How can it happen?!?

In Monza I got a solid 60FPS when offline.
Yesterday I got 35 - 40 FPS when online, alone or with a single connected driver.

I need to definitively solve that issue

Thanks Francesco.
I use D3D: with OpenGL I never had a solid 60FPS offline.

@Axel
What should I do?

First give me an idea of your PC  ;)

Is it Hard- or software related ???

OpenGLV2 is IMO allways better with GPL than outdated D3D7...

Download HWiNFO64 (or 32) start it "summary only" checked and make a screenshot. Post it here.

First thing is allways to make shure CPU and/or GPU are not idling!
with
- intel CPU - check "disable intel speedstep" in GEM+
- AMD CPU - disable "Cool and quiet" and C1E and C6 in bios (wichever you have!)

Fabio,

You may have checked this already,  but it may be as well to confirm you have the gfx card running in 3d mode / appropriate nvidia profiles for each gplcX.exe.
I've certainly had this before where I thought it was all setup correctly, but the gfx card was still idling whilst GPL was running.

Easily checked with openhardware monitor.
Axel is better placed to answer of course,  but in the meantime - I'll direct you to a couple of his previous posts :)

[or just search the forum for 'openhardware' for related threads]

Yes Dave you are right!

Fabio your HW specs seem perfect for GPL,
a good guide to setup your GTX 970 is the "easy installation guide (http://gplworld.org/easy-installation-guide.html)" by Stefan Roess , scroll down to the GFX settings  ;)
Quote
-> If you are using a NVIDIA graphics card I recommend to use the NVIDIA Profile Inspector for enhanced graphics settings. Antialiasing Supersampling for example is not possible to set within the default NVIDIA System Control.

http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/nvidia-profile-inspector-download.html

For the CPU I recomment to use the PhenomMsrTweaker x64 (https://sourceforge.net/projects/phenommsrtweake/)!
Disable in bios the "cool and quiet" C6 and C1E, then set the energy saving with the phenommsrtweaker.

OMG W10... ::)

Not a good idea to run the SSD with IDE mode! Should be set to AHCI!

Set the DDR3 Voltage to 1.5V fixed.

Let C&Q and C1E enabled and first make the NV GPU settings.

I'm really getting crazy...

First of all I modified from IDE to AHCI.

Even though all system seems quicker now, GPL is performing worster than before: now I have no more a solid 60FPS on Spa 67 offline.

Then I tried the Zandvoort OaO server and I got 40 FPS with D3D and 10รท20 FPS only with OGL!!

Enabling or disabling C1E has no impact on it.

I cannot enable C&Q: settings are auto or disabled.

I cannot decrease DDR3 voltage from 1,616 V: settings are auto or several increasing steps.

I'm using NVIDIA Profile Inspector since many years, I just modified the setting according to the "easy installation guide" by Stefan Roess but nothing changed.

Switching back to 36 FPS I'm solid rock with it, both offline and online.

Now I go to bed but I'm really frustrated.

Thans Axel for any other suggestion.

Cheers

fL

Ok seems weird your sys is way more than needed...

First of all give the SSD the channel 0 master place and let it not share a port with the slowest DVD device !!!

I suggest for multiplayer to disable Cool+Quiet and C1E in bios and try 60fps to see if it's the CPU throttling.

When this works you may use the "phenom msr tweaker" to get the power saving switched on/off easier  ;)

Ok started my PC Gigabyte + Phenom IIx2 555 @ x3 3600MHZ and shot the bios

Gigabyte allways sets the DRAM voltage to max Volt! you have to reduce it yourself...

Ciao Axel,
I just modified my system as following:

SSD is connected to SATA2_0 port
HDD where GPL is saved to SATA2_1 (do you think I should move or fresh install it on the SSD?)
HDD for storing documents, pics, vids to SATA2_2
eSata HDD for storing to SATA2_3
DVD to SATA2_5 (I guess I should set back to IDE this port and SATA2_4 too, see BIOS pic)

both C1E and C&Q are now disabled

Unfortunately, in my BIOS I cannot set the exact RAM voltage as in yours: I can only increase it in +0,05 V step, see BIOS pic

Now it's time for some tests: I'll post the result later.

Again: thanks a lot for your great support and understanding. :thumbup1:

to find what is going on you must use openHardwareMonitor (http://openhardwaremonitor.org/downloads/) run it while racing and look into the plot to see wich device fails.

Here my plot of this session

Wich is the graph of the GPU Clocks ?  Seems to idle...

Have you made profiles for your GPU? Have you used NVinspector?
You must learn to use the phenommsrtweaker to set the Cool&quiet off.
Just test it with C&Q disabled in bios again.

GPU clock is not shown, as its range is from 135 (idle) to 1.400 (running)

l'll post a new test latyer on.

Thanks again for your understanding and support.

Test with C&Q auto from BIOS
Same track, car, server:
Three laps at Spa '67 on a 36 FPS server (oAo): today I had between 26 to 36 FPS!!!

CPU only

GPU only
the two nearly flat lines on load are GPU video engine and memory controller

It seems the main problem is the CPU...
Too many cores and not a single constant Clock - when you disable C&Q and C1E it should show a constant flat line - that's the goal!

Disable the core performance boost and the turbo + set the "CPU clock ratio" manual to ~ 17.5 = 3500MHz
Set the "HT link frequency" to 2200 and the "CPU Northbridge frequency" to 2200 too.

Look for the Vcore voltage to be ~ 1.35 - 1.3750V ::)

I reached the goal... but the performance is now absolutely poor, with 19-27 FPS all along the track!

Only the Vcore is still 1,45 V as PC crashed when changed to 1,35 V

You can see the GPU is idling! Now set the NVidia settings to the values of the guide!

Or
copy my NV settings from here (https://www.sendspace.com/file/mztmy3) and import it with the nvidiaInspector...

Try to lower the Vcore as much as possible, as they allways use too high voltages! Start with 1.4 V ...
