That's handy!  The next Fun-Liga event is also Buenos Aires so I only need to practice one circuit!    :thumbup1:

So this is a different version of the Buenos Aires circuit that is used in the 55mod Rank?

My first 55 race.  It was fun but easy to mess up on the brakes when going for a pass LOL.

I tried the Vanwall first but I couldn't see anything in the mirrors so I had to swap to a Ferrari.  Frame rate was very bad for the first lap (about 30 fps) but then it settled down.

I had a close battle with Fran for the first few laps but I couldn't get past.  It isn't easy to overtake in these cars.

Took me forever and a day to figure out the pw then missed the event by seconds. Gutted. Hope y'all had fun. Cheers, Will

A beautiful battle also with Maddog that was always in drifting ;D

Sorry you missed it Will, but on Wednesday is another race...

Shame I had not edited the grid :o but it was fun starting 5 cars in one row ::)

I liked the 4 by 3 grid. It didn't seem to cause any problems either which was a bonus  ;D
For some reason (Practice probably) I wasn't especially near what I was capable of here in the Vanwall. I'd hoped to try a ferrari but just didn't have time to make a setup having only gotten back from Rockingham a little earlier.

Does anyone know of a fix for the Fez 555 brake indicator light? My 2 minute try showed me that it didn't work - the other reason I just jumped into a Vanwall...

I managed a few laps in practice between computer crashes.

The blue screen of death seemed to happen whenever I went off circuit.

I'm not sure which is cause and which is effect but the power unit has gone belly up now as well.  The -5v supply has vanished.

The limited running that I did managed with all you fine folks suggested that it is the instinctive use of brakes to avoid hitting the gyrating car in front that makes the brakes vanish when you least expect!

I have sort of worked out how to drive these cars with pretend brakes, although Buenos Aries is a probably more forgiving track than some others. Will take a little more practice to get the hang of things. The combination of brake fade & slipstream is was a surprise.

Hope that you can join us on Wednesday Will, I still remember some epic battles with you in the past  ;)

I had the Connaught running quite well in Qually , but made a rookie mistake when I joined the race with the wrong setup. The 4 x 3 grid felt very correct for these cars, even if it was a little scary going dpwn to T1!!

It took me a couple of laps to work out why the car was not doing what I wanted it to. It was T1 that showed the problem, because I just could not get the car to drift under control like I had in practice and a couple of trips into the fencing confirmed my suspicions. I was going to be a hazard to other cars if I continued, so I quit.
But I hope to be back for another go on Wednesday. with the correct setup!!

Good to hear that you are finding your way with the 55's Bill and Phil, and I feel for Clive and his PC woes

Me too!

However, I must say that being back on track with a good field of GPLers felt rather like coming home, so I shall keep hammering away at it!

New Power Supply is on the way.

Many thanks for all the help.  I took Axel's advice and ditched Avast.  I immediately saw 60fps at one point on Spa67 so that looks good.  If the PSU was going dicky then I'm hoping that replacing it will restore things to their former glory!

Yes Sir. Thanks for the heads up for the Wednesday event. I shall try to be in Argentina.

I build a set-up for the Connaught yesterday but my times were nearly a second off your qually time. Any chance I could sample your qually set-up? Otherwise there may be no battle and you'll disappear into the Argentina sunset..... 8)

 Thanks. Will

If you can PM me with your current email address Will. I will send you my ( hopefully the correct) race setup.  Be warned,  as it does require a lot of controlled drifting to extract a decent time!!  ;)

Thanks your Evilness. Yes, I just watched a bit of the replay and was amazed how much you drift. Awesome technique. Look forward to giving it a go albeit I will probably resemble my current avatar. lol Cheers.

Grats to Tris, Axel & Tim!  Great job.

And condolences to Tris on the recent passing of his mother.  Never anything you accept or get over easily.

I had quite some fun and for a while, it looked like I'd be on for a decent P4 placing but Bas recovered very well from his Lap01 off and reeled me in over the closing frames.  He passed for the position with just over a lap to go and I prepared to launch a counter-attack when I felt my engine splutter coming off the hairpin.  A quick check of the fuel pressure and...  Groan...  I'm coming up short!  I pussy-footed it to the point of coasting for some of the last lap to hang onto P5 from a rapidly closing Andreas.  Good fun just the same.

This event back in '55 was notorious for its blisteringly hot weather.  As many as three drivers shared rides.  For Wednesday's go, to make it entirely realistic for the race back in the day, I plan to close all windows, crank up the furnace to 40°C, put on a wool sweater and take no refresher drinks during the race.  :)

I really enjoy the '55 mod.  I wonder if I could talk Axel into hosting and the membership to join a race staged at Indianapolis('ims' track folder).  It's rather fun and a challenge!

I was really enjoying that one, not sure exactly what position I was in at the time (To busy trying to keep track of brake state). But eventually succumbed to a disco crossing the S/F line somewhere around lap 16. I think I was running 4th at the time and spent the entire race with FMG up my chuff and I was aware I was holding him up a bit but each time I made a mistake I think he was sucked into a similar error and somehow I managed to get out of each corner still in front.

Can't make Wednesday's race unfortunately but plan of trying to get to Monaco.

John.
