Post by: Phil Thornton on September 13, 2017, 08:40:41 PM +0100
Season 32 - Graduates Cup (Privateers)

The division specific rules are the same as last season. This poll is for the Privateers division. There is no direct handicap, other than tokens.

Please check the Season 32 pages for details (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=615&theme=6) regarding rules and the Graduates Cup pages (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=616&theme=6) in particular.

This season, races are to be run again at 60 frames per second – please use this patch 60fpsV2newmod (ftp://ukgpl3.dyndns.org/Replays/Archive/Season27/60fps/)

Drivers must complete 50% of each race to score points but tokens are earned for making a race start.

Also note the default rule about exceeding the shift-R limit has been updated this season as below https://www.ukgpl.com/index.php/rules/penalties (https://www.ukgpl.com/index.php/rules/penalties):

"Ignoring shift-R restriction
Some divisions limit the number of shift-Rs a driver is allowed to take during a race. If a driver exceeds the number of allowed shift-Rs they will be disqualified."

Handicapping
There will be no handicapping.  The tokens system will be used which is actually a chassis levelling system, not a form of handicapping.

There is no red zone for this championship. Drivers are reminded that Lap 1 incidents do carry an extra 1 place penalty.

Only reported incidents will be moderated.

If you would like to enter this series please submit an entry in the poll.

It is claimed that as the probability of the existence of a world exactly like our own is less than zero, in an infinite space and time we must recur an infinite number of times.  The subject was broached at Loot's club the other day, and he responded that it was the sort of nonsense believed by the sort of people who imagined that dung beetles were masters of the galaxy.

Nevertheless the reestablishment of his racing outfit was to follow.  Whether Loot was influenced by some mysterious association between his racing years and stoic philosophy will probably remain obscure.  Also, it seems that the rehiring of personnel has not gone to plan.  I only know that when I encountered him and asked him about mechanics he stared blankly for some time then walked off in a state of some shock.  It was rumoured in the pits that he subsequently attempted to cancel every single one of our entries, however this seems unlikely.  While we have not been in touch over the intervening years, I feel certain that the prospect of our renewed partnership is as much a pleasure for him as for me.

He did have to be restrained from whipping his secretary, so it is likely to be a mistake made by a less accomplished employee.  When a man of Loot's temperament been surrounded by mere hirelings, rather than the professionals and indeed artists he once used to rub elbows with, some sense of shortcoming is inevitable, and no doubt is sufficient to explain the delayed reaction.

So, it has fallen to me to announce that Reed Racing will once again compete for honours on the track, at least at those tracks where the entry has been unaffected by the inadequacies of bureaucracy.  Let the racing commence, though of course it has continued for some time in the team's absence.

Welcome back Jack!  There have been a lot of updates to GPL since you last raced with us.  Don't know if you've been keeping up with developments, hope you have  ;)

Welcome back Jack!!
Such teams as you represented, with management and direction astutely provided by Loot&Co have been missed. Even the once mighty Wazas have eased into the sunset, and are only heard occasionally when the East wind blows in from Mt Fujikawa on a still autumn evening.

Thanks,

I've missed 2 now and will miss the next couple as Sundays are not great for me so you can change my registration to Part Time if it helps.

Thanks

Mike - its not a major issue. As far as I know part time or full time is only important if there are more registrations than places on the grid, so full timers get priority. We have 18 registrations & quite a few less for average attendance
