Title: UKGPL Season 32 (2017-18) Graduates Cup Works (67) - Zeltweg - Oct 1
Post by: Billy Nobrakes on September 27, 2017, 10:49:41 PM +0100
Season 32 Works Trophy – Round 1 –  Zeltweg

The first race of Season 32 race finds us in Zeltweg Austria. Zeltweg - the original Österreichring. Built in 1969 to replace the bland and bumpy Zeltweg Airfield circuit, the track was known for being very fast, as every corner was a fast sweeper and taken in no lower than 3rd gear in a 5-speed gearbox and 4th in a 6-speed gearbox.  There are also noticeable changes in elevation during the course of a lap which means the downhill sections are even faster. Like most fast circuits it was a hard circuit on engines and even harder on tyres simply because the speeds were so consistently high.

If you want to remove the crowd noise on the start line look here (http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=6662&hl=%2Bzeltweg71+%2Bsound).

Race List = iGOR

There is no Red Zone. Moderating will be on reported incidents only. Remember that lap 1 incidents carry an additional penalty place.

The chassis token system is explained on the Works standings page. Please ensure you choose a chassis that is within your budget, which can be seen by hovering the mouse over your points total in the standings.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

For reasons I don't understand I couldn't join the server via iGor or via IP. Haven't had that problem for a very long time.

Good luck to those that could connect. I noticed Fulvio didn't have much luck either.

I had serious issues connecting myself, I managed after several tries when I was about to give up. Thank you to the guys in chat who helped me reset Igor though.

Also, I had terrible stutters from the start of qually. I know this track is prone to it, but this time they were pretty much everywhere, whilst they usually are limited to the s/F line and the Bosh curve (at least for me). I had stripped down the graphics for the race already, but to no avail. Hope this is a one off, as I know the pc is old.

@ Phil Thornton, I remember a post from you where you hinted at a specific setting that you could use to limit the stuttering originated by running Pribluda. I was doing it regularly before races back in the days, it was something I could reach through 'control panel' and then ticking a box somewhere maybe in 'system' or 'indexing'...? I really cant remember, but I think that was helping at the time, if you read this can you try to remember please? Thank you

My race was short lived, managed 4 laps with some angry Hondas and Ferraris snapping at my heels and then dropped it at the top of the hill when trying to start pushing a bit through the stumbling frame rates. Shame, as I hoped to rack up some points keeping it slow and steady...Grats to winner and podiums, I think I will be in for Rouen as well.

Sorry I can't remember exactly. I've had a look through my posts but can't find anything.  I'll keep looking.

Sorry to hear guys :(

Grid was a bit small, and missed at least Sam and Tim. Qualified on Pole with a BT24 PB, but Tris had a better start. We raced close first half of the race with a couple of close calls. Tris defended well, and had more straight line speed, prolly due to higher tire pressures. In the meantime Jonny also caught up with us, making it a 3-way fight at the front.

Had a good run on the main straight, and made a surprise move into Hella Kurve. Always difficult since the entry is over the top. Actually missed the apex and ran wide, locking up slightly entering. But Tristan gave plenty room and avoided an incident. A bit of a hard pass, but happy I didn't hit Tris. I had been very patient so far in the race with him but had to make a move.

Ran a couple of fast laps, and created a gap. Prib showed number of laps wrong and saved fuel last 6 laps, when there were only 5 laps left it seemed...shame, otherwise could have bettered UKGPL laprecord for sure ;)

Well done Tris and Jonny, and finishers. Commiserations to the DNS and DNF's. Thanks for racing. :)

Grats on the victory, Robert!  Great job by ol' amigo, Jonny, for P2.  A solid podium run for Tris.  And hey!  A P4 pour moi.  Lucky boy.

I had great duels with both Andreas and Alain.  As has happened in so many races, AG and I hooked up for some fine action.  I swear we each carry a tow rope for the other.  :)  Later, it looked Alain had the better of me til his engine soured.  Bad luck.

I had monumental connection headaches.  First, no joy in iGOR after repeated trials.  Timed out.  Finally tried via the IP addy.  Still US.  I reset my modem.  Still nothing doing.  Finally, with barely five minutes remaining in Q, I decided to hit the reset button on the CPU and bring everything up again.  SUCCESS!  I joined the server thru iGOR without even bothering to calibrate the wheel.  Only time enough to throw some petrol in and hang on.

I was surprised to have a good pace, even with the superior Lotus car,
it was great fun to walk close to these two guys!

 Until the next!

I had the same problem trying to join the Privateers.  I kept getting '10051 Error detected on network device' whether I tried to join via IGOR or directly through Multiplayer.
I can't recall seeing this ever before and nothing has changed in my set up since last season.

Same problem for me, I could join other servers and raced the 66 last week without problems. First time it happens on UKGPL server.  ???
Ciao

I have given Alain pw before the race, since there was no moderator around. I knew him from GPLRACER.

Welcome Alain, and good job! :)

PS: was fun watching replay, really fun first half of the race. I'm glad I didn't take Tristan out with me missing the apex...fierce racing and an admirable job by Jonny who got better and better in the race. :)

No need to confirm, here at UKGPL.
Then I explain to Alain how to subscribe to one or + championship(s)

I've searched around but I can't find out what the fix was but I think it was when I used to run Windows XP.  Anyway I'm on Windows 7 now and searching round on Windows 7 isn't helping to jog my memory.  However I think I may have found the equivalent fix for Windows 7.

In Windows 7 go to Control Panel -> Appearance and Personalization -> Personalization if you have an Aero Theme selected then this can cause problems with frame rates with Prib and in-car chat.  I've selected a basic theme (Windows 7 Basic to be specific) and the frame rate is much better.

Are you on Windows 7?  If so did a basic theme help?

Hi Phil, apologies I see this only now. I will try this fix later on, and will let you know. The frame rate issue last time out was mainly when I joined the race online, so will probably have to check it tonight if the day goes as planned. Yes, I am on Win7, and I also found the posts I mentioned here

Thank you so much for your help, really appreciated. I know my pc is running on fumes and needs replacement, so hope to fix that soon anyway.
